McCain - and maybe Palin - to stump for Chambliss
Atlanta Journal-Constitution ^ | 11/7/8 | JIM THARPE

Posted on 11/07/2008 9:38:40 AM PST by SmithL

U.S. Sen. John McCain will come to Georgia to campaign for Republican U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, the Moultrie lawmaker’s campaign confirmed Friday.

“We just have to work out the dates,” said Chambliss’s spokeswoman, Michelle Grasso.

Grasso said the campaign is also in touch with Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s office about a possible Georgia appearance.

“She wants to come down, but right now we are working with her schedulers to see if that’s possible,” Grasso said.

Chambliss is headed for a Dec. 2 runoff with Democratic challenger Jim Martin of Atlanta. Neither candidate got a majority of the vote in their Nov. 4 contest with Libertarian Allen Buckley.

A high-profile runoff between Chambliss and Martin will likely attact political bigwigs from both sides.

Martin’s campaign has already been in touch with President-elect Barack Obama about a possible Georgia appearance, but Obama had not cofirmed an appearance as of Friday.

Even though Obama won the presidency, McCain led the vote tally in Georgia.

Please call them back and tell them to make sure that McCain stays home. :)

I think that depends on the debate. He should vote with his party on behalf of the quite conservative electorate he represents, but he’s turned hid back on both before.

I was asked not to repeat a portion of my conversation. That said, you (and me and many others) would be pleased with what was expressed to me in that regard. :)

At first Saxby Chambliss supported amnesty. Has he changed his mind? Will the Libertarian endorse anyonee?

If I am not mistaken, I don’t think McPain or Palin campaigned for any congressional candidate at all in September and October. I don’t think McPain would be of much help to Chambliss, but Palin MIGHT.

pls. Ping me when you hear she’s coming. And she’d better get something good for stumping for another member of the gang of 10.

Thanks papasmurf. Did you make a point to tell them not to invite John McCain?

See my reply to post # 44.

I made it clear he needed to acknowledge his past transgressions and ask his base (US) for help.

I reminded them of why they are in this position (a runoff), and they agreed with my statement.

In either case, him remaining a RINO or being true to the base, he’s a better choice than the 0bama worshiping, knee pad wearing, mouth breathing, drooler, Martin.

Has it crossed your mind that continually re-electing RINOs (becuase they are better than the Democratic alternative) is what got us to the point we are at today?

AMEN BROTHER!! SAY IT AGAIN! SAY IT LOUD!

Has it crossed your mind that nearly everyone on here is throwing a hissy fit at the idea of McCain the RINO coming down to campaign for Chambliss the RINO. Everyone seems to realize that only an authentic conservative like Sarah has the power to draw out the authentic conservative vote.

Funny how they will trust Chambliss to hold on to conservative principals when it's convenient. I am no longer willing to choose which RINOs get thrown under the bus. ALL of them go under the bus.

And I really don't need to read all of the Chicken Little "the sky is falling" comments headed my way, but if it makes anyone feel better, go for it.

good, stay home, watch your 401K come part and your freedoms erode thanks to the votes of Jim Martin.
Chambliss will be a vote that we need on the big issues but stay warm with your principled position.

“Isn’t Chambliss a RINO just like McInsane and Grahmnesty? Why should Sarah lift a finger to help him?”

I can actually think of one finger in particular that she should lift to the entire party until someone defends her.

I haven’t seen any of them defend her, but they still want to use her.

She should demand that they all give press conferences defending her before she lends them her star power on the stump. She is in a position of power over all these chumps. She is the party's star.
