Japanese Man Wants To Marry Anime Character
Belfast Telegraph ^ | November 6, 2008 | Belfast Telegraph

"A Japanese man has posted an online petition, arguing that Japan should change its laws to allow people to marry comic book characters. Japan, currently, like most countries legally only allows humans to marry. What's more bizarre about this story is that the online petition has attracted more than 1,000 other people."

Also, a Swedish woman married the Berlin Wall.

Her marriage was torn apart?

And, like most women, she will tell you that her husband is a blockhead.

I’d love to be able to declare that my dog and cat are legally my children so I can deduct them on my taxes and get free medical care for them!

This is actually a practical concept, when they piss us off, we can just erase them and start over. /s

I always though Spiderman (Peter Parker) was hot and he comes with great Jazz.

He ought to move to the Netherlands. They allow all sorts of perversions there.

What was that other movie with animation where the cartoon characters were called “doodles” and humans could morph into them?

Anyway, there is more societal weirdness in Japan than any place else on Earth.

I’m big time into Anime and manga.

I wanna know if he marries the Anime or manga character does he have to get permission of the mangaka (the person who writes the story) and will the mangaka and publisher be obligated to make him a character in the story?

And who acts as the gobetween?

And who gets the gifts the bride to be is given by his family?

And will she wear the kimono and uchikage and all to the wedding, or opt for a western style ceremony?

This, in itself would make a great parody manga...LOL.

Fandom is a whole nother world....this guy is definitely, definitely Otaku.

Somehow when he gets divorced I can’t imagine the judge will accept a “she’s a cartoon character” as a defense against giving her half his stuff.

Be honest. You would be with Betty, but you would be thinking of Wilma.

CAT and LISTER are lying on bunks in a darkened room, watching television.

LISTER: Cat?
CAT: Mmm?
LISTER: Ya ever see the Flintstones?
CAT: Sure!
LISTER: D’ya think Wilma’s sexy?
CAT: Wilma Flintstone?
LISTER: Maybe we’ve been alone in deep space too long, but every time I see that sharmi <?> body, it drives me crazy. Is it me?
CAT: Well, I think in all probability, Wilma Flintstone is the most desirable woman that ever lived.
LISTER: That’s good. I thought I was goin’ strange.
CAT: She’s incredible!
LISTER: What d’ya think of Betty?
CAT: Betty Rubble? (Pause) Well, I would go with Betty... but I’d be thinking of Wilma.
LISTER: This is crazy. Why are we talking about going to bed with Wilma Flintstone?
CAT: You’re right. We’re nuts. This is an insane conversation.
LISTER: She’ll never leave Fred, and we know it.

CAT shakes his head in resignation.
