Obama Seeks Transition $$$ (Obama creates non-profit to solicit funds for transition!)
Fox News ^ | 11/8/08

Though the campaign is over, President-elect Barack Obama is still soliciting contributions to help fund his move into the Oval Office, Politico reports.

The Obama team has created the Obama-Biden Transition Project, a non-profit corporation set up under section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Service code, to help supplement the $6.3 million he will receive in taxpayer funds.

Contributions of up to $5,000-per-person can be made to the non-profit, and a source close to the situation told Politico Obama will not accept contributions from lobbyists or corporations.

Unbelievable. Well, with this guy, no it isn't. Watch our Republic become destroyed.

Sadly, there are probably millions who will give to this jerk. Perhaps this is another way he will launder funds from millionaires, etc.

Whatever the reason, it is ridiculous. $600+ million wasn't enough, Hussein? You need more now, even though the current President has offered unfettered cooperation?

Even though the taxpayer has already been tagged for $6 million for your transition?

I'll be donating to the Affirmative Action President's slush fund - April 15th of next year - but less than I expected. There are some deductions I've always considered too sleazy to take, learned from reading Clinton's taxes, but it's time to go for all I can get. My used underwear went into a box in August, along with my old socks and shirts that I replaced, and they're all going to charity today. I'm taking the deductions based on a value estimated by software and sending the money I save from legally valid but morally reprehensible deductions to the NRA. While I have ethical qualms about claiming a charitable deduction greater than the value I would place on the items, I have a far greater problem with putting my money in the Affirmative Action President's toy chest to be spread around.

If he wants more of my wealth than the minimum I can legally send (which is less than the minimum I until now thought I could ethically send), then he can send his Civilian Defense Force goons to collect it.

Is there any legal basis for this? I suppose it may hae happened in years past before govt funds were available, but there is money for this. This is incredibly disturbing.

I would feel better if the article announced previous Presidents who did this. I realize they need to vet probably hundreds or thousands of people, so the $6M will go fast, but it is unseemly, esp the part about them probably not releasing names before inauguration.

I am still concerned that Obama is a Russian backed Communist. When he takes over the White House and gets the nuke codes I will be holding my breath. He may be the front for a Communist take over of America. What is to say he won't or his hitherto unknown backers who appear to be Communist with terrorist leanings won't. I am not saying that this will happen but could it. We live life as though nothing like this could ever happen when nothing says that it couldn't. Murdering Despots depend upon people believing that it could never happen to them. It is the element of surprise that is one of their biggest weapons. God help us.

The way he looked at the people during his acceptance speech sent chills down my spine. He looked at them strangely like he knew that though they were admiring him so desperately that they were expendable. I have a good imagination but that is the way he looked at them to me, like they were his admiring victims but they just didn't know it yet. I sure hope that I am way off base but nothing would surprise me. I have followed his past and his past connections closely.

I welcome those who can tell me why this could not happen. It gives me a feeling of apprehension to think that it could. It seems like others have abandoned their fear of what he may be. I even can envision that soon after he gets in they will come for us in the night and take us out of our city limits and shoot us down, maybe millions of us. Again, I am not saying I believe that this will happen it is just that I feel it could. I wonder does anyone else think that this is a possible scenario and if not please tell me why. If so please let your voice be heard. Sometime into next year I hope I can think, thank God, he is just another politician.

What, . . Did’t he alread spend an obscene amount to buy the election and bust campaign financing laws. . . ??? He wants a bailout. . . ???? Just how much does it take to buy a Presidency. . . What’s to move. . .or transition??? I am sure Michelle Daahling (she reminds me of a Garbo sister) will remodel like Jackie O did since this is the second coming of JFK (NOT) and there will be a budget for that and what’s to get a few moving trucks and load them up in Chicago and move your stuff, . . no big deal. They allegedly had money already. We are allegedly going toward a depression and they are spending this type of money for seals and transitions. That’s the problem with royalty , they cost too freaking much. At least the Queen of England’s family earns from money on their own with their private funds. Someone needs to keep a running cost total of the Emperor’s reign in comparison with inflation to Bill Clinton, Bush, etc and do Mastercard priceless take off commercial on getting him out of office before the next election comes up

Throughout BO’s campaign, he continually compared his successful compaign to his ability to run the country.

That is not good - because he does not seem to be able
to handle a budget. He spends money like it grows on trees and then he wants more.

He is constantly asking for $$ from the American people, the very one’s that are having trouble during our economic problems.

And one more thing - I don’t ever remember another president seeking money for a transition fund. I would have thought the gov’t would have set aside $ for this. If so, again, BO needs more $ - not a good sign.

This doesn’t sound good. I hope there are some competent lawyers looking into the legality of this.

Here’s the website from the GAO concerning the Presidents Transition Effectiveness Act, which allocates Gov’t money for the transition. But, with BO, he always needs more $

If these people are stupid enough to let this guy hustle them for more money on a lame dodge like “transition” money, more power to them. Most Americans are way too stupid to know that the government funds transition costs.
