'Fake photo' revives Kim rumours

There is fresh speculation about the health of North Korea's "Dear Leader" Kim Jong-il, amid suggestions that an image of Mr Kim may have been doctored.

The image, released on Wednesday, appeared to show Mr Kim in good health while inspecting two military units.

But an analysis by the UK's Times newspaper highlighted incongruities around the leader's legs, and the BBC found what look like mismatched pixels.

It has given new life to suggestions Mr Kim may be seriously unwell.

"They go into ostrich mode so readily - because they have given no clue about what would happen without him," North Korea expert Dr Aidan Foster-Carter told the BBC.

Unlike the previous handover of power from the Great Leader Kim Il-sung to his son - which was planned and made public decades in advance - there has been no public announcement about who will succeed Kim Jong-il, 66.

Propaganda battle

The suspicions about Mr Kim's health have gathered force since about mid-August, amid a sudden lull in news reports and official images released by the official North Korean news agency, the KCNA.

His disappearance sparked suggestions he was undergoing brain surgery for a stroke or even that he had died.

In an apparent bid to stop the rumours, Pyongyang has recently released a succession of images and news stories which purportedly show the leader in good health.

The shadows of the heads of each person aren't consistent. Look at the shadow of the aide on the left. It is the shadow of a broad brimmed barracks cover, not the felt hat the aide is wearing. Compare to the aide on his opposite flank and his shadow. Then compare to the hat shadow of the officer on the far right just inside the frame of the photo.

The shadow people reveal much of the shadow government.

Look at the soldier on the back row (third from left) standing behind Kim and to the left (in the space between Kim and the tall fuy with the big hat).

There is a button bathed in shadows that’s reflecting light — incongrously.

Also, Kim’s shadow is too far to the left of him in comparison to the soldiers standing on either side of him.

November 9, 2008: South Korean intelligence officials are uncertain who is in charge up north. There is general agreement that North Korean leader Kim Jong Il is, or was, quite ill earlier this year. He appears to have had a stroke, but recovered. Maybe. There is some belief that Chang Sung Taek, the head of the secret police and Kim Jong Ils brother-in-law, is actually running things.

Well, the article is a fairly good assessment of the situation on the ground in N. Korea. One of these days, the system will experience a disaster it has never seen since the end of Korean War. Not the war this time, but internal breakdown just as deadly.

It won't something deliberate or planned, either. Some freak accident will do it in. It may not degenerated into all-out military confrontation bu will open up the brief period of great uncertainly and harrowing tension, in which pretty much everything bad can realistically occur.

All easily explained ~ Kim is mounted on a stiff wire frame which is canted seveal degrees backward from the direction of the Sun or overhead light array which is actually behind the camera to the right, and not just to the right of the picture.

This is a common illusion. Everyone seems to be standing up the same way, but Kim isn't ~ and that changes the outline of the shadow. See the tabs that seem to be pulled up on the right and left shoulders, right in line with his arm pits? That's where the nearly invisible 100 pound test mylar lines penetrate his coat and wrap around his arms as a support. They are attached to a support out of sight overhead.

Also notice that his head is heavily shaded on the left ~ he may also have a mylar line screwed into his skull to keep it up. His jaws are clearly wired shut to keep his jaw from dropping.

The right hand mylar line is showing a shadow on the tunic of the soldier immediately above Kim and the left hand mylar line is faintly shadowed on the guy to the left of him. These shadows are faint, but clearly there.

The pictels at yhe bottom were "rearranged" to account for the fact the trousers have no cuff, and the "tucks" were not of equal length. All that's happened is a ragged edge has been removed and replaced withpictels found elsewhere in the platform.

He's a stiff guys.

I think it's Breakfast at Bernies III

The picture is real, but the cuffs are faked.

Looks like they did a better job than Obama did on his “birth certificate”. Wish the BBC would do an analysis of that.
