Democrats Set Sights On Texas (Latinos=Blue State?)
The Los Angeles Times ^ | November 9, 2008 | Peter Wallsten

As they review the results of Tuesday's election victories and begin looking toward future campaigns, some Democrats have settled on a rallying cry: Texas is next.

It sounds improbable for the Republican bastion that produced President Bush and served as an early laboratory for Karl Rove's hard-nosed tactics. But Texas is one of several reliably red states that are now in Democrats' sights as party strategists begin to analyze a victorious 2008 campaign that they believe showed the contours of a new movement that could grow and prove long-lasting.

A multiethnic bloc of Latinos, blacks, young people and suburban whites helped to broaden the party's reach Tuesday well beyond its traditional base in the Northeast and the West Coast -- carrying Barack Obama into the White House and expanding the party's majorities in Congress...

It’s going to be interesting watching what happens as blacks and latinos square off against the gay rights lobby.

Broken borders and mass migration are a boon to Libs. Hussein will make 40 million illegals legal, and they’ll all vote dem. Cradle to grave govt. handouts expected, paid for by the rest of us, i.e., the working poor.

Before you swallow this hook, line and sinker, remember that the Obama team is full of former Clintonites. One of their standard MO’s is to plant a false story in the press to send everyone off on a wild goose chase.

From here on in, whatever you see in the DBM, consider it misinformation planted by the Obama team then try to figure out why it was planted.

Do not believe it to be factual or truthful.

Wishful thinking. Latinos came to the United States to escape Socialism and prosper. If we are sinking into the cesspool of Socialism, like the nations they are fleeing, it won’t take much of a conservative politician to point that out and ask them to put a stop to the communists.

Yep. We all know about the deep affection the latinos have for the blacks.

Ahhh, there will be such harmony in diversity...

Latinos=Blue State? Maybe so. But I'd guess the original formula is something like this:

Free things from the government for me, paid for out of others' taxes = Blue State

I never thought North Carolina would become a blue state [now I'd be ashamed to say I was from there!]. The point is: while this may seem to be far-fetched, it is not beyond the realm of possibility. It reflects the dims strategy. Those "anchor babies" are growing up and will be recruited by the radical left - 0bama and gang.

Ah, a diversion. I wonder what Obama is cooking up in Washington? Texas going blue? Bot in this lifetime. And after Obamanation starts his Marxism, the Latinos will see him making Texas into a Mexican ghetto. Then they will revolt against him.

Alaska is looking better all the time. Perhaps it will secede from the Union and become it’s own nation and totally put Washington in the rear view mirror.....

The Democrats are going to misinterpret the results of states like NC turning blue. If the party in charge in the White House would have been a Democrat, traditional blue states would have turned Red.

The GOP just found itself in a lake of quicksand it could not get out of. The current economic stuff along with Bush and the rest of the GOP establishment refusing to put up a fight resulted in what happened last Tuesday.

that process started in the 2004 local campaigns.

i was sitting in a mcdonald’s reading newspapers and drinking coffee in north austin when a latino college student from ucsb introduced himself and started a political conversation.

he got angry that i didn’t agree with his “out of iraq” project while demanding american involvement in darfur, and he left.

it turned out that the student was on a grant to help out a democrat congessman take a seat in the area, and he won.

It's funny. I'm here in California and used to dream about where I could move to. Now I accept that you can run, but you can't hide.

Better to stand our ground and fight. I am, anyway.
