Barack Obama wants to find ways to make his mark quickly in the opening days of his presidency and reverse the legacy of George W. Bush. Obama will focus his efforts on the list of executive orders that shaped White House policy, reversing them quickly. That does not require legislative approval, but it could bring the most contentious issues to the forefront immediately and create more polarization than post-partisanship (via Jazz Shaw):

A majority of voters naively asked for this. Well be careful what you wished for is what I say to them.

Obama executive orders:
No Conservative talk radio.
No drill here, drill now, pay less.
No nuclear power plants.
Now clean coal technology.
No new rifineries no uppgrades to the existing ones.
Immediate withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Cut all military spending.
No missile shield for Europe or the Polls.
Shut down Homeland Security surveillance.
The list will go on...

Amazing, I thought Clinton's Executive Orders were permanent.

Is it true that President Bush could have invalidated them?

President Bush should put some "land mines" in his last minute executive orders and repeal of old executive orders. Find issues that are extremely popular with Americans and push on those daring Obama to repeal them so Republicans can have issues for years. Much like when Clinton changed the allowable arsenic level in drinking water below the natural levels in much of the West which would have driven water prices there through the roof. President Bush pretty much had to reverse that order, but the Democrats immediately claimed he was putting arsenic in children's water. Find a similar issue to stick Obama with.

Unfortunately after eight years of being politically ineffective, I don't expect a sudden reversal in the last two months.

As I said in another post Bye Bye "offshore drilling" as if it could have happened under the new law

the new congress will kill the newly approved offshore drilling will go away so we need to get back to pushing all involved understand that we cannot be dependent on foreign oil and allow a windfall tax on the oil companies. (I got a letter from Boxer and she took pride in the fact that she sponsored that bill)

Save the offshore drilling and Help Sarah open anwr
Its all about National Denfence, Drill for Oil Now

He’ll have to rein in the mob of ‘advisors’, it’ll be like taking the Jenny Craig bus to a pizza factory. They will want to dismantle everything, and rule by ukase. I, for one, don’t think he has the balls.

I expect at the least something to come out to curb any attempts at drilling for gas and oil domestically. Any orders that leaned pro-life will go.

You know what? I'm coming to the conclusion that most of humanity isn't worth fighting for. Let them sink into communism. They'll never change me, and they'll make their own Hell.

Of course, it's easy for me to say. I don't have children.

Like Jimmy Carter it is possible for this man to do so much damage to our nation in one term that it will take an entire generation and maybe longer to fix.

Agree with you on what the GWB Admin should do now in the last 70 days - Putting mines within some of these orders -

However, cut the GWB attack BS - It is that mindset that played right into the MSM hands to tarnish the entire GOP brand image......GWB did a hell of a lot right (and plenty wrong as well) but the man is as decent as they come, one hell of a CinC and has taken more arrows for the GOP than just about anyone else ever has (Reagan did not contend with a 24/7 MSM, nor the 527s of today)....

And furthermore the GOP base did not allow/give the MSM the ammo on Reagan/GOP by abandoning Reagan on his mistakes (be it SDO on SCOUTS, raising FICA taxes and burdening another generation to that scheme, cutting and running from Beirut and fueling Islamic Jihidists, tax increases of 86, Amnesty to ALL illegals, etc, etc). No, our base was clearly more adult back then...

The important thing is that when anything happens with regard to the orders being overturned... Obama must be held Accountable.

Every Conservative in the Congress needs to be up front discussing exactly what the undoing of these executive orders could mean for the country.

Worse case scenario, Obama changes executive orders that were in place to protect Americans and then we get hit with a Terror attack.... What possibly can Obama say? In fact wouldn’t those affected be eligible to bring charges against the president if by changing something that had kept us safe resulted in the deaths or damage to them?
