Obama to target Bush executive orders in first days
Hot Air ^ | November 09, 2008 | ED MORRISSEY

Barack Obama wants to find ways to make his mark quickly in the opening days of his presidency and reverse the legacy of George W. Bush. Obama will focus his efforts on the list of executive orders that shaped White House policy, reversing them quickly. That does not require legislative approval, but it could bring the most contentious issues to the forefront immediately and create more polarization than post-partisanship (via Jazz Shaw):

The biggest thing is that he could just choose to not enforce the Executive Orders that he can’t change immediately. In short, GHBs executive orders are pretty much toast.

In spite of the fact that extensive research by biologists has proven NO benficial treatment from embryonic stem cell research, this pro-death, marxist fool thinks he knows better and will be throwing our money away on junk science.

Way to go, Obamanites. Keep voting for the contents of MY wallet instead of sound, limited, responsible government!

"Stroke of the pen. Law of the land. Kinda cool." -- Clinton presidential aide Paul Begala, July 1998.

It is going to be a long four years.

So, Obama's henchmen have discovered the ever-longer lever of power at the White House.

Will we spend the next four years complaining about BHO's abuse of executive power that W accrued and applied, rightfully or wrongfully, in his eight years, and Clinton before him, and GHWB and Ronald Reagan before that?

Or will we do something about it, like electing a Congress with the courage to challenge the Imperial Presidency and overturn, repeal, reject the orders, laws and enablers that have tipped the balance of power so strongly toward the executive branch?

(A brief narrative on executive orders in Wikipedia is good for background for those who intend to do battle. Branch out from there as desired.)

Chickens coming home to roost is perhaps too mild an expression to describe the coming national disaster.

I'm wondering who Bush is going to pardon? I know, off subject, sorry. But an interesting question.

President Bush should put some "land mines" in his last minute executive orders and repeal of old executive orders.

BUSH!!!???? Are you kidding me?? He is making Carter look like a freakin' GENIUS!!!! Expecting Bush to do something for this country is like expecting the New York Times to print a balanced article. No happening!

Every Conservative in the Congress needs to be up front discussing exactly what the undoing of these executive orders could mean for the country.

Yeah! All both of them.

Like Jimmy Carter it is possible for this man to do so much damage to our nation in one term that it will take an entire generation and maybe longer to fix. Actually, LBJ and FDR did far more damage and it was far longer lasting than Carter. Carter was a terrible president. But did not institutionalize bad policy in the same way as did LBJ and FDR.

Rahm Emanuel has perfectly summarized Obama's bipartisanship: "Republicans can go f--- themselves."

This will be the theme of the Obama Nation.

Change Republicans to Conservatives is more to the truth... Look Obama continues to campaign aginst Conservatives, even his swipe at Nancy Reagan by accusing her of having seances, which by the way is an outright lie, but the people care little when Conservatives are bashed. Soon being a Conservative will be a crime worthy of punishment.

I REALLY wonder that one.

I think the most fascinating one would be if Ted Stevens wins (don’t expect him to) in Alaska and Bush pardons him. Then what? Does the Senate, CAN the Senate, move to kick him out? If they don’t, or can’t, then Palin doesn’t run for a Senate seat which I think she needs to be a viable national candidate for 2012.

Does he blanket pardon his Admin (I expect it)?

Yes. A fascinating question and one which I am looking forward to seeing how it plays out.

I hope Bush re-institutes the Clinton arensic level executive order and watch as Obama has to reverse it since the cost of tap water would skyrocket!

FDR died before I was born and I was kid following the record industry's lead when LBJ was in power but I was a young man with wife, kids and a new business when Carter was racking our nation, so he sticks out in my mind. But I do have to thank him for turning me into Constitutionalists from a born liberal.

Amazing that nobody puts any credit on the financial meltdown to how many trillions of dollars has been extracted from the American economy by the oil imports.

Why were car sales down? High gas prices made consumers less confident about committing to new debt they may not be able to cover if oil continues to go up in price. We have a current reprieve on oil prices but I guarantee soon the prices will go upwards and beyond because Obama has promised that energy prices are going to skyrocket.

Why was the travel industry down? Oil once again. Airlines blew the cost of flying out of the roof for most Americans. The increased cost to business travel is immeasurable. The cost of freight deliverys of raw goods, consumer goods, and food has skyrocketed the inflation rate.

But why does nobody point to higher energy costs as a part of the economic down turn? It isn’t just mortages and construction that drives our economy. It’s the price of oil, and the lack of domestic jobs that could be available if America opened up it’s oil reserves.

”The list will go on..."

Just don’t fire any US Attorneys. I’d hate to see obama investigated for the next four years. Oh wait, he’s a RAT so that would be perfectly legitimate. /s

I think the voters know exactly what they’ve done. It’s a whole new era for the United States. We are about to embark
on a journey that we never thought we would be on.
The voters now know that the courts rule the nation. And that the tax code can be used to buy their vote.
Most of America is too concerned with themselves to place country above them. Obama is simply the result of this ME First society. We’re going to be paying for this election, for a very, very long time.
