WASHINGTON (AP) — Let the 2012 presidential race begin — or at least the speculation about it.
From their travel schedules to their public comments, several Republicans seem to be testing the waters for potential White House runs. At least two are on tap for visits this month to Iowa, which traditionally opens the nominating season with its presidential caucuses.
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, considered a rising star in the GOP and thought to be on John McCain's short list of potential running mates, is slated to deliver the keynote address on Nov. 22 to the Iowa Family Policy Center, a prominent Christian conservative group.
And former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who won the Iowa caucuses this year in his failed bid for the GOP nomination, is scheduled to visit the state on Nov. 20 as part of a nationwide book tour promoting his campaign memoir, "Do the Right Thing."
Sarah Palin, who became McCain's running mate, has signaled that she will remain on the national political scene. The Alaska governor says: "I'm not doing this for naught." And former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who also failed to win the nomination this year, has restarted his political action committee.

Well, that's true- but their input can come from reputable polling and be given due consideration by Republican primary voters.
It's actually insulting to assume we wouldn't consider the electibility of the nominee- "elitist" even.
No Romney as Romneycare in Mass is a disaster and during the Michigan primary he made too many big government promises.
No Huckabee as he’s not a conservative.

Priority, IMO, is exposing the illegal campaign contributions used by the Messiah and the voter fraud that stole battleground states. Next, 2010 is the next target. Vote everyone up for re-election OUT! Two years to find conservative candidates and to expose the corruption in DC; name names and provide the proof.

Ok, so if it’s determined by the state how they hold thier primaries, what can be done to open them only to Repubs and Indies. MsSmith makes a good point about needing indies input, since they will be voting in the general...i’m assuming we have to appeal to the our own states RNC, but how? can the registered repubs in that state make a case to the RNC to change the policy on the primaries???

I seriously doubt it. I talked to a political reporter in LA this past week, and this reporter gushed over Jindal and his Chief of Staff Timmy Teepell. He said nothing but good things about both, he mentioned the upcoming speech in Iowa and he called Bobby “honest.” This reporter made it clear to me that Bobby is very smart, very articulate and a dedicated conservative who will be a strong contender for the WH in 2012 if chooses to run. I say Go Bobby Go!
It would probably have still been a pathetic primary though. Everything was pathetic this election...

That’s a good start—but how is it going to get legs...Zero owns the media and ACORN will be given a free pass...plus, look at all these clowns in congress who have a single digit approval rating who just got voted back in?? Jesus!! what is wrong with people!!!???
Under controlling US Supreme Court precedents, the GOP could close its primaries if it wished to do so. There would be political and court fights over doing so, but it could be done by the various state and national party executive committees.
Melas, you’re right, McCain ,i’m sure, had the best interest of the country in mind. obviously he’s a patriot and NOT a traitor...but why hasn’t he come to the defense of Palin? She being attacked from people in her own party and you hear nothing but silence from him...why?
IMO it's not a major problem except that we're dealing with Obama. He'll have a group of bloc voters that will do whatever he says. Just my $.02.
No need to wait until 2012 ...... should be able to get seats in Congress back in 2010. Demos will screw things up so badly, public will be mad.
we must increase if not take back the Senate and the House....
this is where the battle will be won...
we as conservatives may not ever win back the White House.....we don't need too....
we need a 40 yr hold on the House and Senate.....we need more governorships.....we need to control more state legislatures.....

after Clinton was elected with about 55% vote against him, in two years, we took the House and the Senate....
lets do it again....
I don't agree with him and most of what he believes in, but he in all his faults IS far, far better than anything hussein has to offer....
having said all that, he was too "nice" and his own work...McCain Feingold killed his own campaign as well as many other Pubs through out the country..the story of losing some of these House seats and Senate seats is one of 527's giving huge sums of money..
I will support any reasonable Pub candidate, because it defeats the rat.
