Video Shows Gay 'Marriage' Backers Terrorizing Cross-Carrying Elderly Woman and Reporter

By Kathleen Gilbert

PALM SPRINGS, Florida, November 10, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Video footage from KPSP CBS 2 Palm Spring News shows Proposition 8 protesters surrounding an elderly woman and the reporter trying to interview her, shouting and blocking the camera's view of the woman, ultimately forcing the two to flee from the encircling crowd.

Phyllis Burgess, a supporter of true marriage, had been assaulted earlier as she displayed a large cross in front of the protesters.  Video footage shows the anti-marriage crowd pushing Burgess, slapping the cross out of her hand and stomping on it as they surround her.

When reporter Kimberly Chang attempted to interview Burgess shortly thereafter, she grew visibly upset as dozens of protesters encircled the pair and shouted them down while blocking the camera with their signs, rendering the interview impossible.

"As you can see right now, we are being a little attacked here," Chang said. Burgess then told Chang she thought they needed to call the police.

The journalist attempted to continue her story by yelling over the crowd, at which point the protesters erupted in noise, drowning her out. (To see the KPSP CBS 2 footage, go to: http://gatorgop.blogspot.com/2008/11/crazy-lefties-attack-old-lady-at-no-on.html)

True marriage supporters, particularly religious groups, have felt the ire of same-sex "marriage" advocates ever since California's Proposition 8 was passed last Tuesday.  Proposition 8 places the true definition of marriage in the state constitution.

"In California, marriage advocates faced intimidation, vandalism, the ire of Hollywood stars and opposition from Internet moguls," said Valerie Mosher of Concerned Women for America in a statement Friday.  However, "marriage proved more important to the voters than threats or approval from cultural elites."

Same-sex "marriage" advocates are now pursuing several lawsuits against Proposition 8 in an attempt to overturn the democratic process through the courts. This effort echoes the imposition of same-sex "marriage" by activist judges on the state earlier this year. The California Supreme Court decided to legalize same-sex “marriage” despite the fact that Californian citizens had resoundingly voted to protect true marriage in a 2000 referendum.

By refusing to respect voters' opinion, says Mosher, "It would destroy trust in the judicial system.

"In demanding that they get their way, homosexual activists are threatening public safety and the integrity of our system of government."

The anger itself is so irrational too. Before this came up, California ALREADY HAD a “civil partnership” law, which gave homosexuals more or less the same rights as married people. They can have a ceremony and call themselves married all they want...even if it’s to their cocker spaniel.

Why it is so important for them to force other to call them legally “married” is more than I can understand.

Tom Brokaw described this video as “a lot of hate on both sides”, I kid you not.

They want to force the church to marry them and recognize the marriage as spiritually good, in defiance of God's stance on the matter.

Yes, I corrected it, I heard it wrong listening to Laura Ingraham, I thought she said it was Brokaw, it was the local idiot who sees ONE OLD WOMAN holding a cross, having it ripped out of her hands and stomped as “hate on both sides”.

It’s also pretty funny that when the voters chose Obama, we Republicans just sit around moping and whining about it, but not threatening or anything. After all, we lost. And the Obama supporters are talking about how the system finally worked and they won! Voting works...

But when the dims lose, they go postal about it. They want to challenge the will of the people; overthrow the will of the people with violence, threats, legal battles, etc. What happened to the system works, and voting works. I guess only when they win.

Aaaaah. If only that cross that was destroyed had been a koran instead. It would have been a VERY different outcome.

It is part to shove it in our faces, those who don’t want them redefining marriage.

It is part that they want to redefine marriage in order to ultimately destroy marriage and what it means.

It is in part because they are unhappy, tormented people and will never be happy because they are perverted and their consciences bother them, and they cannot stand to hear anyone telling them they are wrong.

It is part because they demand that everyone must accept them and affirm them.

It is part that they are wicked people doing evil things, and forcing others to call their evil good, and getting others to punish those who oppose them by calling THEM evil, when in fact they are good.

Lots of headless perverts would be running around if they ripped up or stomped on a koran.

Wonder if govt would do anything. Muslim versus gay. we know they’d always side against Christians, but with two politically correct groups, it is infinitely tougher.

Well, they haven’t changed a bit. When people live for their lusts, that is all they care about. This is the fruit of the “gay lifestyle”:

“They shouted to Lot, “Where are the men who came to spend the night with you? Bring them out to us so we can have sex with them!”

Genesis 19: 6 So Lot stepped outside to talk to them, shutting the door behind him. 7 “Please, my brothers,” he begged, “don’t do such a wicked thing. 8 ...... But please, leave these men alone, for they are my guests and are under my protection.”

9 “Stand back!” they shouted. “This fellow came to town as an outsider, and now he’s acting like our judge! We’ll treat you far worse than those other men!” And they lunged toward Lot to break down the door.”(nlt)

I can't believe that the TV news monkey said, "...a lot of anger and a lot of hate, quite obviously, on both sides..."

Where was the hate from he lady with the cross? Show me the hate from the proponents of proposition 8. That is propaganda, not news. This is so common that I am losing my ability to be outraged.

Democrat => Demon-Cr@p

There is quite a bit of wickiness now in the Democratic party -- transmitting AIDS through homosexual activity with many partners, beliefs that babies have no rights, euthanasia, ...

I guess if you are into witchcraft, Satan cults, etc., you fit right in in the Demon-Cr@p party...

Why it is so important for them to force other to call them legally “married” is more than I can understand.

It is so they can continue to escalate their war on heterosexuality. They want to eliminate free speech and freedom of religion. These people are obviously compensating for their shame. Deep down they know it is sick to define their identity by engaging in filthy pathogenic sexual practices so they project their anger by calling those who stand up for their First Amendment rights "intolerant".

We don’t march and threaten Catholics and Mormons.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jiwc9ybBiAw&feature=related

Nor do we threaten elderly gay and rip their rainbows away from them. As done in this hate crime shown in the link below. There will be a short bumper ad before it starts:

We can boycott the corporations funding the repeal of Prop 8.

Boycotts can work for our side too.

There are many corporations funding the repeal of Prop 8.

because, in their own minds they have an intense need to feel, what they call “equal”.

However the real story is they need to feel justified.

Inside, they are convicted of their error. In order to overcome the conviction there is the intense need for vindication by demanding what they think is equality, but is in fact a longing for endorsement of their perversion.

It is easily seen whne the conversation leads to “tolerance”. A homosexual will writhe when you say that you already tolerate their behavior, for tolerance is also not what they want.

They want nothing less than a full endorsement of their behavior as morally equal to that of heterosexuality. But even then, they will not be appeased, for the conviction still burns within.

James wrote (4:17?) “For a man to know the right he ought to do and not do it, to that man it is sin”

So as long as the conviction burns within, there will be no peace, regardless how the outside world handles the matter. In a spiritual sense, for such a heart, the agony of hell arrives a bit early. And in this, the evil of the matter can be seen. It is not based upon rational thoughts, but a spiritual battle.

That’s this sheep’s opinion.
YMMV

It was California, not Florida.

The letters of the TV station start with "K", which means it is West of the Mississippi River. Normally a "W" as first letter East of Mississippi -- KCBS vs WCBS.

Also, Proposition 8 was for California; I think Proposition 6 was for Florida...

I did not mean to. After looking at the article closer, I realized the LifeSite must have made the error. It matters because I posted this under Freeper "US Florida"... Not "US California" (at least originally).

I posted this under topics "US Florida", so it does matter in that sense -- to other freepers.

I have added "US California" because of your comment. Your comment was meant, to me, to also correct which states that Freerepublic lists this under...
