Judge Clears Way For Same-Sex Marriages

Judge Clears Way For Same-Sex Marriages BY DANIELA ALTIMARI | The Hartford Courant 9:54 AM EST, November 12, 2008 NEW HAVEN - A 4-year legal battle for same-sex marriage came to an end this morning in a New Haven courtroom when Superior Copurt Judge Jonathan E. Silbert signed an order. The state Supreme Court last month, in a 4-3 decision, ruled that preventing gay and lesbian couples from marrying violates the state constitution. Today's brief hearing was a formality that was needed before gay couples could start receiving marriage licenses.

Immediately after the court proceeding, one of the plaintiff couples, Barbara and Robin Levine-Ritterman, were on their way to New Haven city hall to obtain their marriage license.

Attorney Bennett Klein of GLADD, the Boston-based legal group that litigated the case, told the court how proud each of the couples is to live in Connecticut.

This "does mark the end of a very long journey toward equality," he said.

With morons like this running the state, soon it will violate the state constitution if one cannot marry a sheep, or a horse, or a dog, or a cow! Next we will have Barbara and her cow Lulu calling on city hall to obtain their marriage license.

And then the next logical extrapolation will be that when the cow gets pregnant and has a calf, the cow will be classified as permanently disabled, since it can’t talk or think in traditional human sense, and is thus unable to gain employment due to this “disability.”

This determination will qualify the cow and the calf for SSI benefits for life, payable care of the human.

That’s what it’s all about. Follow the money. The state rakes in the money for the licenses, the attorneys rake in the money for the divorces.

Other states will see the profitability of this - and there goes the country. We have become a nation of GREED and GIVEAWAYS. I frankly so NO hope... there are no principles anymore.

To those outside the State of Connecticut:

No one voted on this. This was pure judicial activism. CT already recognized civil unions, but I guess it was important to homosexual activists to have the right to attach a religious label to their partership.

The right to call a Constitutional convention, as a means to regain some control over our own lives, was winning by a 2-1 margin about a year ago. Then the activists implemented a media blitz and the measure was voted down.

Yes, the drive by media will continue this, non stop. And of course with every story, comes the extremely offensive homosexuals kissing on the evening news, during dinner.

This happens every time a story about fake marriage airs. I wonder, are the networks trying to lose money? Are they trying to get viewers to turn them off? It has gotten so bad, we turn on the exact time the weather airs, and then sports if it a day when sports are aired. Other than that, the news is just too offensive. We read what we chose to read online regarding what is going on in our area.

Their neighbors north did exactly that, as well as parent a and parent b. And yes, CT will follow suit. Sad to think that this is where the revolution started, now it is the first area to go down the sewer.

It was bad judgment all the way around.

“That’s what it’s all about. Follow the money.”

I think money was a factor in the argument by the government if it was on the side of legalizing gay marriage but it seems to me that it would be a pretty negligible amount. I think part of the problem is the American Bar Association. That national organization is very, very liberal and has driven out most conservative attorneys but it holds sway over a lot of the process of vetting judges for appointment in state and federal courts. Where many years ago a judge’s political philosophy was not that important, recently it has become a qualifying/unqualified factor. We have judges who are liberal themselves and want to be seen by their peers as progressive. They believe the gays who dwell in their social circles have rights and they are going to do whatever they can to ensure those rights are granted.

“Does Connecticut have voter override for this?”

Nope. Never will have, either.

On November 4th, Connecticut voters had a very important ballot issue before them. That was, should the state convene a Constitutional convention?

The proponents of this ballot issue believe that one of the results of a convention would be the introduction of statewide ballot “initiatives” in Connecticut, just as many of the western states have.

I believe it would have also dealt with the gay-marriage issue.

Guess what? The convention ballot issue LOST. Connecticut voters voted AGAINST giving themselves the direct power to reverse bad decisions by the legislature and the courts.

In this state, the people get what they deserve (I live in CT). Just like Massachusetts, where voters given the extraordinary opportunity to reduce their taxes, voted to keep taxing themselves.

Things are never going to change here. Wait, let me rephrase that: things will change here - but only for the worse.

- John

A persecuted Church is a church more sincere in it’s beliefs, with little to offer to the partially committed.

(Mat 5:10) Blessed [are] they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

(Luk 21:28) And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

Someone should tell them not only the definition and history of marriage, but why the state took it up.

This is a godless society.

There were judges in Sodom and Gomorrah too. We’re toast.
And to think they’re not elected.

I hope many come to the pro-life march in January (Sure it’s around the inauguration), fight for values and the family; That freedom of choice act (the one that overrides states re: abortion and us paying for them), is prepared for one of his first act moves. That’s a quality of life issue.

This is part of the Communists/Eugenicists goals, kill the morals of a society, population control.

About that first act:

Freedom of Choice Act - Declares that it is the policy of the United States that every woman has the fundamental right to choose to: (1) bear a child; (2) terminate a pregnancy prior to fetal viability; or (3) terminate a pregnancy after fetal viability when necessary to protect her life or her health.
Prohibits a federal, state, or local governmental entity from: (1) denying or interfering with a woman’s right to exercise such choices; or (2) discriminating against the exercise of those rights in the regulation or provision of benefits, facilities, services, or information. Provides that such prohibition shall apply retroactively.
Authorizes an individual aggrieved by a violation of this Act to obtain appropriate relief, including relief against a governmental entity, in a civil action.

They even changed the Democratic platform (contrary to what Obama told the pastor at Saddleback), to exclude rare and provide funds for abortions.

This isn’t just about using taxpayer money to pay for others abortions (as they do in some places already), but it also, obviously, affects migration/immigration; Most seem to miss that link. If you’re under re-population numbers (we’re getting close), you get migration, you lose your soveignty in one form or another, the end of the founding fathers vision for America.

And some wonder why prayer was taken out of schools, sex-ed and question your parents authority was put in.

Next guns then churches.

Notice that everywhere this issue was brought to a vote of the people, Gay marriage went down to defeat.

We are now a country ruled by Judges, because most in congress quietly agree with their agenda, else they would shut them down.

"Interpreting our state constitutional provisions in accordance with firmly established equal protection principles leads inevitably to the conclusion that gay persons are entitled to marry the ... same-sex partner of their choice," Justice Richard Palmer wrote in the majority opinion. "To decide otherwise would require us to apply one set of constitutional principles to gay persons and another to all others."

So this judge looks at his state constitution, and presumably at the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution, neither of which has changed significantly in over 150 years, and sees that all those judges who went before him just couldn't understand what these things meant. He issues a decision which would allow me to marry my sister if HE, the JUDGE, weren't the bigot he is. But it probably allows me to "marry" my son; and maybe a couple of his friends too.

RE : “preventing gay and lesbian couples from marrying violates the state constitution. “

What constitution? The one in their heads? Well if they thought that was true they would throw out the marriage law and not allow marriages. Not order the state to marry, that’s creating laws. I assume the elected agree with them but cant say so they wont do anything. What if the legislature passed a law outlawing ALL marriages in the state? So you had to go to another state to get married. It would be unpopular but it shows how these judges are dangerous assuming power.

I don't understand why those who believe in polygamy aren't demanding their right to marry mutable wives. According to the rulings in Conn. and Mass., they have the same constitutional right to choose their own lifestyle as homosexuals. If anything, they could demand their rights to show how unreasonable homosexual "marriages" are.

I don’t know what’s in Connecticut’s constitution, but please consider the following.

When the a federal or state constitution says nothing about an issue like gay marriage, it’s not surprising for renegade judges to seize the opportunity to legislate special-interest agendas from the bench when cases concerning such issues arise, deciding such cases in favor of minority interests.

Sadly, such judges know that they can get away with their “insightful” findings in a constitution concerning such cases because, since the people generally don’t know their own constitutions, the people won’t lift a finger to fight such decisions, wrongly regarding a judge’s decision as absolute. So the will of the majority is subverted as a consequence of the majority’s silence about the issue in a constitution.

I must commend New York judges at this point. I remember a relatively recent case concerning gay marriage. New York judges were at least honest enough to say that since the NY constitution didn’t address gay marriage that state legislators should essentially quit sitting on their hands and make legislation concerning gay marriage.

I think all those polygimists around this country and all muslims should sue to have more than one wife. Also for all the other freaks who want marry their dog, goat or spouse then they should go to MA,CT and use the every same arguments these homo’s used

Will the homo groups now say that it is the others right to marry who they want .

I really hope they do and cause those two state to actually think about the damage they are doing ,
So now they have the sham marriage there against the will of the people like in MA they then they’ll go for adoption to brainwash kids then they will bring it into the schools like they have in MA to brainwash the kids

Thankfully my state FL plus CA, and AZ stopped these great perverted homo’s form getting their sham marriage here.

Yeah. Unfortunately, the wheat has to grow up with the weeds lest the tender wheat be injured. What we're seeing now is the wheat ready for the harvest being separated from the weeds, so the weeds can be pulled up and thrown into the fire and the wheat can be safety placed in the barn.

The sheep and the goats are being separated. That way, when the goats are lined up for the slaughter, the sheep will be the safe zone.

The spiritual world communicates to us through images. The tribulation will be physical as well as mental. If we stick to the faith, we'll be shielded from the mental and physical breakdown being stored up for the radical left wing groups. They're about to start devouring one another.

Remember - if you want to eat, fish from the RIGHT side of the boat. Christ is standing on the RIGHT side of the Father. It's the RIGHT leaning heart that will be saved.

exactly and I have just wrote about this in a post

every Muslim and polygamists should move to MA and CT to have their marriages made legal.

After all they can use the every same arguments and I would be interested in seeing if the likes of these homo groups believe they have a right to do so.

They can call it marriage but it is not marriage at all nor will it be when they leave their border of the state.

Every conservative in MA,CT,RI,VT, needs to get out of those states and move south or west, hopefully a state which is a swing state.
I got my wife out of MA and our vote counts here in FL and we helped to pass the ban on homo marriage, civil unions etc.
Your money, votes and numbers are needed in VA,NC,FL,NM,AZ,NV,CO they are a waste of time in those liberal states.

We need a conservative group to help people find work, house schools etc for just conservative moving out of those liberal states
