Judge Clears Way For Same-Sex Marriages BY DANIELA ALTIMARI | The Hartford Courant 9:54 AM EST, November 12, 2008 NEW HAVEN - A 4-year legal battle for same-sex marriage came to an end this morning in a New Haven courtroom when Superior Copurt Judge Jonathan E. Silbert signed an order. The state Supreme Court last month, in a 4-3 decision, ruled that preventing gay and lesbian couples from marrying violates the state constitution. Today's brief hearing was a formality that was needed before gay couples could start receiving marriage licenses.

Immediately after the court proceeding, one of the plaintiff couples, Barbara and Robin Levine-Ritterman, were on their way to New Haven city hall to obtain their marriage license.

Attorney Bennett Klein of GLADD, the Boston-based legal group that litigated the case, told the court how proud each of the couples is to live in Connecticut.

This "does mark the end of a very long journey toward equality," he said.

RE : “preventing gay and lesbian couples from marrying violates the state constitution. “

What constitution? The one in their heads? Well if they thought that was true they would throw out the marriage law and not allow marriages. Not order the state to marry, that’s creating laws. I assume the elected agree with them but cant say so they wont do anything. What if the legislature passed a law outlawing ALL marriages in the state? So you had to go to another state to get married. It would be unpopular but it shows how these judges are dangerous assuming power.

...ruled that preventing gay and lesbian couples from marrying violates the state constitution.

I don't understand why those who believe in polygamy aren't demanding their right to marry mutable wives. According to the rulings in Conn. and Mass., they have the same constitutional right to choose their own lifestyle as homosexuals. If anything, they could demand their rights to show how unreasonable homosexual "marriages" are.

I don’t know what’s in Connecticut’s constitution, but please consider the following.

When the a federal or state constitution says nothing about an issue like gay marriage, it’s not surprising for renegade judges to seize the opportunity to legislate special-interest agendas from the bench when cases concerning such issues arise, deciding such cases in favor of minority interests.

Sadly, such judges know that they can get away with their “insightful” findings in a constitution concerning such cases because, since the people generally don’t know their own constitutions, the people won’t lift a finger to fight such decisions, wrongly regarding a judge’s decision as absolute. So the will of the majority is subverted as a consequence of the majority’s silence about the issue in a constitution.

I must commend New York judges at this point. I remember a relatively recent case concerning gay marriage. New York judges were at least honest enough to say that since the NY constitution didn’t address gay marriage that state legislators should essentially quit sitting on their hands and make legislation concerning gay marriage.

I think all those polygimists around this country and all muslims should sue to have more than one wife. Also for all the other freaks who want marry their dog, goat or spouse then they should go to MA,CT and use the every same arguments these homo’s used

Will the homo groups now say that it is the others right to marry who they want .

I really hope they do and cause those two state to actually think about the damage they are doing ,
So now they have the sham marriage there against the will of the people like in MA they then they’ll go for adoption to brainwash kids then they will bring it into the schools like they have in MA to brainwash the kids

Thankfully my state FL plus CA, and AZ stopped these great perverted homo’s form getting their sham marriage here.

In the book of Romans, it says that God gave them up to their sins. These gay victories are a sign that God is giving up on America. The few faithful better prepare for some severe persecution.

Yeah. Unfortunately, the wheat has to grow up with the weeds lest the tender wheat be injured. What we're seeing now is the wheat ready for the harvest being separated from the weeds, so the weeds can be pulled up and thrown into the fire and the wheat can be safety placed in the barn.

The sheep and the goats are being separated. That way, when the goats are lined up for the slaughter, the sheep will be the safe zone.

The spiritual world communicates to us through images. The tribulation will be physical as well as mental. If we stick to the faith, we'll be shielded from the mental and physical breakdown being stored up for the radical left wing groups. They're about to start devouring one another.

Remember - if you want to eat, fish from the RIGHT side of the boat. Christ is standing on the RIGHT side of the Father. It's the RIGHT leaning heart that will be saved.

exactly and I have just wrote about this in a post

every Muslim and polygamists should move to MA and CT to have their marriages made legal.

After all they can use the every same arguments and I would be interested in seeing if the likes of these homo groups believe they have a right to do so.

They can call it marriage but it is not marriage at all nor will it be when they leave their border of the state.

Every conservative in MA,CT,RI,VT, needs to get out of those states and move south or west, hopefully a state which is a swing state.
I got my wife out of MA and our vote counts here in FL and we helped to pass the ban on homo marriage, civil unions etc.
Your money, votes and numbers are needed in VA,NC,FL,NM,AZ,NV,CO they are a waste of time in those liberal states.

We need a conservative group to help people find work, house schools etc for just conservative moving out of those liberal states

Things are never going to change here. Wait, let me rephrase that: things will change here - but only for the worse.

I didn't check to see if others did so, but the weather is a lot better down here in NC, and it is significantly, if not sufficiently, more conservative a place to live. Taxes are better, though still high, and a lot of people here do not cotton to Yankee tyranny.

And never did.

Heyyyyyyy. My veterinarian bills are always higher than my doctor's bills. I think I should be able to legally add my dog to my health insurance policy if I want to.

:-(

Homosexuals who think they are Married even when the Out of Control Judges lift the ban so they can marry...are not married.....It’s a joke and it is a sham...

Homosexuals live a great LIE when they think they are married...They can pevert the courts but they cannot deceive a Holy GOD that gave humanity a Holy Covenant of Marriage as 1 Man and 1 Woman...

LOL

The gaystapo would never allow that to happen , or polygamists or muslims to marry as they believe only they have a right to everything they want and they are the only ones who should be heard.

I know I will never back down openly about these lot in public and I will not fear them either.

I agree, Fishrrman. I am outraged by this disgusting court order. And We the People of Connecticut have NO CHOICE in the matter... these activist judges can do whatever they want. It's just stunning.

I am so saddened at what's happening to the once lovely state of Connecticut. As soon as we are able (not anytime soon, unfortunately), my husband and I will be moving elsewhere, preferably to a Red State. This gay marriage law is yet another nail in the Connecticut coffin for us.
