BO said that all we need to do is to keep our tires properly inflated and we'll have all the gas we want. So I'm expecting my official US government tire pressure gauge to arrive sometime after Jan. 20.

As we have seen, there is no such thing as "permanent" when it comes to executive orders

Anyone besides me remember how the BushBots thought GW would overturn all those silly EO's that Billy boy instituted before leaving office?

First they were all under review, then they were promptly forgotten. The point if a good conservative President can't revoke a few EO's then who will?

No one, that is who.

Watch the Alaskan Independence Movement start picking up steam.

Oddly enough, I think Obama supported legislation that would allow Hawaii to become independent.

But then wouldn’t Obama just enlarge ANWR to cover everything?

Could he somehow remove it from being declared a wildlife refuge and offer it up for sale or lease to oil companies or others in the state?

The only things PERMANENT in American politics are Supreme Court decisions (sort of), the malevolence of the left, and the stupidy of the Republican Party.

LOL! Sorry, I meant to write this—

But then wouldn’t Obama just enlarge ANWR to cover all of it as it exists now? All the way up to the coast.

Douglas Brinkley is a nob. Any Executive Order made by one president can be equality undo by another president's executive order

Designating an area as a National Monumument is NOT an Executive Order. It sets the area aside and brings it under the authority of the Department of Interior. It takes an act of congress to designate an are as a National Park, but only a Presidential designation to create a National Monument. I haven't researched the law regaring how to "undesignate" a National Monument, but it is not the same thing as an Executive Order at all.

They did NOT clearly and firmly establish Federal requirements to earn the privilege of the vote - in order to deny the vote to the illiterate, the criminals, the non-productive, the dependent or the insane

Remember at the time the Constitution was ratified Senators were not elected nor were Presidents.

So he's going to close ANWR by executive order and cozy up to Hugo Chavez..

Not executive order but rather under the American Antiquities Act of 1906 (16 USC 431-433 )

Sec. 2. That the President of the United States is hereby authorized, in his discretion, to declare by public proclamation historic landmarks, historic and prehistoric structures, and other objects of historic or scientific interest that are situated upon the lands owned or controlled by the Government of the United States to be national monuments, and may reserve as a part thereof parcels of land, the limits of which in all cases shall be confined to the smallest area compatible with proper care and management of the objects to be protected: Provided, That when such objects are situated upon a tract covered by a bona fied unperfected claim or held in private ownership, the tract, or so much thereof as may be necessary for the proper care and management of the object, may be relinquished to the Government, and the Secretary of the Interior is hereby authorized to accept the relinquishment of such tracts in behalf of the Government of the United States.
Of course, the "smallest compatible area" clause of this authority might make designating an area the size of South Carolina as a National Monument to be problematic. The current makeup of the courts might find that an over-reaching designation by the President and an abuse of the power granted by the law.

Oil right now is: Oil 55.78 -3.55 -5.98% http://www.bloomberg.com/index.html?Intro=intro3

The call to “Drill Here, Drill Now” is falling by the wayside. If Obambi seals ANWAR and bans offshore oil the SPECULATORS will jump back into the market and we will see $75 per barrel oil. If we are smart enough to start drilling programs then we should see oil prices stay in the $60 to 70 range for the next 18 to 24 months.

If supply and demand is allowed to dictate price we may see oil selling at $50 to $60 range. Iran, Venezuela and Russia will do all they can to drive up prices. If the attempt to drive up prices doesn't work many expoiting nations will start cheating on their quotas to make ends meet. If they can't drive up prices and make more money selling less oil they will have to cheat by increasing their export volume and making less per barrel while sellong many more barrels just to cover their expenses. Quota breaking may work in the short term but as more oil will flows into the market the prices will drop again.

Makes me wonder just how much money the Dems get from oil supplying nations to keep us dependant upon them?

Winner winner chicken dinner.

Dems appease the environmentalist nuts in their base and keep their owners happy as well. Win-win-win. Meanwhile, most yokels are none the wiser.

Looks like the threat of drilling bans is not having a significant effect on prices yet. I expect a jump though at the first really cold spell when people start thinking heating oil.

Maybe technically true. I don't know. My point is and remains: What one president can acchieve, another can reverse by the same powers.(if he/she has the will)

I didn't see anything in the statute about reversing the designation of a national monument.
