BELLEVUE, Wash., Nov 10, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms today called on Democrats to "be honest" with America's 90 million gun owners and "tell us whether your campaign claims of adherence to the Second Amendment were all lies."
CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb said gun owners are legitimately alarmed that president-elect Barack Obama has selected virulent anti-gun-rights Democrat Rahm Emanuel as his White House chief of staff. Emanuel was "point man" on gun ban efforts for the Clinton Administration.
"Scores of Democrats, including Senator Obama and his running mate, Joe Biden, assured voters over the past several months that they 'support' the Second Amendment," Gottlieb stated. "Well, America's gun owners do not merely 'support' the Second Amendment, we live by it every day. We value the right to keep and bear arms, and will zealously protect and defend that right, as much as we value the rest of our fundamental individual civil rights, and that is something Democrats need to understand. To think otherwise is a monumental mistake.
"Mr. Obama, whose history on gun rights is abysmal, appears to be considering his party's most extremist gun control advocates for key positions in his administration," Gottlieb continued. "That is not a sign of goodwill toward gun owners or their rights. It's a red flare warning of high winds and rough weather looming on the political horizon.
"Our nation is in serious trouble," he observed, "and we all need to be working together to solve our fiscal crisis and our energy problems. The fastest way to alienate tens of millions of productive, loyal and hard-working American citizens is to attack one of their constitutionally-protected civil rights.
"We wish our new president smooth sailing

America is arming itsself to the teeth right now and that should be a warning that we aren’t going to take it laying down. This is an old fashioned 1st Amendment call to arms.
They’re going to wait a minute or two before they ban “assault weapons”.
None of this matters, we aren’t giving back any guns, period. And I look forward to any attempts they might try to challenge that statement.
Go to a gun shop if you think gun owners believe the Dimocrats’ lies;
folks are stocking up.
how’s comrade rahm going to control all of those blue dog, gun totin’ dems he created in congress?
I don't;
I remember what happened at Ruby Ridge and Waco.
I don't look forward to being a dead hero.
I'll resist, but only a damn fool would say he "looked forward to it."
FBI Files?
I suppose he'll do it the way the totalitarian Dems always keep their troops in line; he'll threaten to destroy them if they don't toe the line.
Same stuff, different day.
We need the gun companies to stand up for our rights. We buy their guns and they tell the Fed to go some place warm when told to stop selling them to “civilians”. The idea the Fed has ANY right to limit any kind of small arms is ridiculous and they know it.
I’m thinking we are being setup for a monumental gun grab and adding 2 more (increasing the size of the court) justices to the SCOTUS would seal the deal.
Exactly, win the battle lose the war, the Blue Dogs are in a tough spot.
Pathetic that these people are so Anti Civil Rights.
If they try a big gun grab you don’t take them on frontally. You remove the leaders at the appropriate level. Make the ideologues pay for the actions they initiate. An ideologue looks to make reality fit an idea. If reality suddenly and forcefully intervenes for some of them, they may quickly change their minds.
There should be a shorthand response in addition to Heston’s “FMCDH” (From My Cold Dead Hands).
FUCAGE = Come and Get ‘em
“...At what exact point, then, should one resist the
communists?...”
“How we burned in the prison camps later thinking: what
would things have been like if every Security operative, when he
went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether
he would return alive and had to say good bye to his family?
“Or if during periods of mass arrests people had not simply
sat there in their lairs, paling in terror at every bang on the
downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had
understood they had nothing to lose and had boldly set up in the
downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes,
hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand...the Organs
(police) would very quickly have suffered a shortage of
officers...and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the
cursed machine would have ground to a halt.”

I hope they at least wait a few months to allow me enough time to buy all of mine. I don't expect movement on gun control during the first '100 days'. I expect we may see some gun control next Fall. I don't believe congress will want to do it during an election year, so if it's going to happen next year, it will be during the Fall months.
Of course a big media event like a publicized mass shooting could change everything, and bring gun restrictions overnight.
Any recommendations for a CC firearm?? I'm an average sized guy, 5'9", 185 lbs, right-handed, slightly smaller than average hands (typically wear medium sized gloves) but strong grip from weight training with free weights. With what I bench, recoil isn't going to be a problem, but grip comfort may be.
I've been thinking of keeping it fairly mainstream, maybe a small frame Glock in 40 S&W. While 9 mm are fine and offer a lot of choices (too many?), I'd like to go with a little more punch if I need it. Honestly don't think my hands are big enough for a 45 ACP. I don't want anything with bells and whistles and 18 safety devices that'll prevent it from firing when I really want it to fire.
Well, you take the passive approach and let them run all over you, that’s your choice and you live with it. Those who resisted at Ruby Ridge and Waco more closely exhibited true American strength than, say, the current leaders of the Republican Party who will passively allow elections to be stolen because they don’t want to get their hands dirty fighting.
The point I have made repeatedly on this site is that these clowns don’t have the resources to do a damn thing about this if enough of us resist. One Ruby Ridge, One Waco, big long standoffs with significant resources committed, they can do that. 90 million Americans say ‘screw you’, it’s ‘screw you, Obama’. Once we get back to realizing how much power we have, and that we aren’t going to be like mindless jews dutifully following the orders of those looking to eliminate them, we’ll be fine. And I think enough of us are already there. You’ll get there eventually.
Can’t go wrong with a Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm or .40cal or Springfield XD(m) in any caliber (9mm holds 20rds).
Huh??? WHAT mask????
“Our nation is in serious trouble,”
You got that right.
BTTT
You are looking for a dozen companies to carry your water? You are dreaming.
Tree of Liberty. Water. Patriots and tyrants. Coming soon.

Use Clinton's own Rules of Engagement on them, the ones he set for Serbia. These clowns will fight to the last dead JBT, but would they fight to the first dead gungrabbing Congresscritter? The first "oh-so-tony" editorialist who gives them encouragement to wage war on part of the American people? The first Hollywood loudmouth who misuses their podium to cheer on the massacre of their fellow citizens, for daring to hold a different view?
In the event of this scenario, the operative rule for resistance to tyranny should, and moreover, *must* be "if the law no longer protects *me*, then it no longer protects *them* as well." The above, would have, by their own actions, put the crosshairs squarely on their own chests, by choice...

I do not think they will try anything legislative until they have a bloodbath to smear all over the front page and television.
I am not saying, however that a foreign terrorist attempt might not be characterized as the SPLC wet dream: a rightwinged/neowhatever/jesusfreak/antigay/racist attack on whomever, in the press, which would cover for the lack of prevention of a terrorist attack and shift the blame to legitimate and law abiding gun owners.
No one should ever underestimate the propaganda backlash/effect which the media would gin up.
That is a given...

A 40 Calibre is a good fit in between a 9mm and a 45ACP.
The 40 has a little slower velocity that results in more knock down power. Accuracy is good, range, not as much as a 9mm but for close combat much more effective.
Also another thing to consider. 9mm ammo is lower cost than the 40, but the 45 is highest cost per bullet.
Less bang for the buck...but more bang for the target...so I guess it evens out.
So do I!
Can I ask what you learned from those two instances? My take is that both could have been stopped if enough good men had only come forward to express their opposition. I suspect that words alone may have been enough back then. Today I am thinking that words by themselves may not be enough. Either way, we will have to play with the cards that are dealt.
I have to take exception to the inclusion of but one word in you statement. Leave out the word coordinated and it will be quite effective.
Somewhere in the archives of FreeRepublic is a story about a young man who had enough and began a campaign of throwing bricks through the oppositions windows. I think that story needs to be recalled for all to read. It was something that would work quite well to solve the present day dilemma on how to act in the face of tyranny.
I will search for the story and return.
I didn’t say we wouldn’t help however they shouldn’t cave the moment the Fed says to. They can bring to bear plenty of legal and financial power that most of us individuals cannot. The first salvo will be legal maneuvering not confiscation and they should fight tooth and nail at that point. They should also have the support of the NRA which we collectively fund to fight such abuses.
.45 ball is more effective than 9mm or .40 which is likely what you’d buy in bulk. Typical .45 hollow point expansion (in a good bullet) is equivalent to .85 cal.
9mm is effective because you can generally put more rounds on the target with slightly less target reacquisition effort. This is probably less true nowadays with the recoil reduction of polymer pistols.
I've stood behind a trim little 13-year-old girl and watched her bang away with my 1911, and she had no problem with hand size or recoil. You'll do fine.
The people that advocate or support the infringement of our God-given rights do not (yet) understand how personal the folks on "the other side" take this, nor how personal it will become for them.
I once asked someone who was opining that I did not "need" a nasty black "assault weapon" if they were willing to risk their life to enforce their point of view, since I was willing to risk my life to defend my rights. I pointed out that it would not just be the poor bastards that were sent to enact their policies that would be held accountable.
This person paled a bit when they considered the full implications of this...
You forgot the "Blood" part.
Ah, good point. I need to be able to afford to practice often enough to be consistent and good.
The “water” will indeed be blood. Some of it may be merely political bloodshed, some may be actual bloodshed.
