I am beginning to believe that the DISD is a criminal enterprise masquerading as a school district. How else can you explain that it stays in business while producing such a rotten product?
They laid off a lot of black teachers and people who had gone through the alternative licensing process.

This is just one small tip of the corrurption iceburg in Dallas.
Ah yes, the ol' extortion of the taxpayer trick. In truth this is just a small part of Dallas' problems. They are so torn by identity politics the whole city government is dysfunctional.

Since I am the education reporter at another Texas paper, I will have to check that out for here.....how outrageous.
I am already doing a story about the district I cover taking years to fire a man who was an art teacher at the youth center (correctional facility). He was drawing pictures of students and some naked drawings of fantasy art-type things like mermaids. He also violated policy by taking girls out of their cells to work with them individually, mailing letters for them etc.
But, instead of being fired, they moved him to another school. His insubordination continued, yet he wasn’t fired until this year after they found more of the same fantasy drawings.
This is after in the late ‘90s he got in trouble for writing letters to a girl of a semi-romantic nature (she didn’t like it and reported it) and was forced to resign from that different school district.
While it could be worse....nobody is alleging the guy had a sexual relationship with students etc....he crossed the line way too often and was just shuffled around instead of fired.
Just ridiculous.
It would be interesting as to what you’ll find out regarding your area. I suspect the info regarding how to make the offenses less noticeable are fairly well known thoughout the state ISDs. Not saying they are all hiding stuff but it would be an interesting investigation and if clean a feather in the cap of the ISD. Good luck.....

If I was a parent, or even a fellow teacher, I'd have Lawyers suing YESTERDAY for mental duress until every teacher is certified to being who they claim to be. And DISEASE FREE!This past Sept our youngest daughter, who graduated last May with her B.S.Ed, started working as a Teacher Aide (step one to Full Time Teacher) in our School District. Before she could start, she had to get FINGER PRINTED and an FBI background check performed based on her prints. She also had to get tested for TB and results submitted, not to mention show her State Teaching Certificate annnnnd all the Certification Tests that are required.
How any of this could fly with a phony SS number is beyond me. For all the Dallas schools know, they could have a Pedophile or Serial Killer working with the kids.

Improper and unnecessary.
There may well be legitimate reasons why an identifying number needs to be given to foreign nationals or others without SSN’s.
For those kinds of situations, its easy enough to create a pseudo SSN by using 9 digit numbers starting with an 8 or a 9.
No excuse for this behavior which is tantamount to identity theft.
