"I am a student of history. Professionally. I have written 15 books in six languages, and have studied it all my life. I think there is something monumentally large afoot, and I do not believe it is just a banking crisis, or a mortgage crisis, or a credit crisis. Yes these exist, but they are merely single facets on a very large gemstone that is only now coming into a sharper focus.
Something of historic proportions is happening. I can sense it because I know how it feels, smells, what it looks like, and how people react to it. Yes, a perfect storm may be brewing, but there is something happening within our country that has been evolving for about ten - fifteen years. The pace has dramatically quickened in the past two.
We demand and then codify into law the requirement that our banks make massive loans to people we know they can never pay back? Why?
We learn just days ago that the Federal Reserve, which has little or no real oversight by anyone, has loaned two trillion dollars (that is $2,000,000,000,000) over the past few months, but will not tell us to whom or why or disclose the terms. That is our money. Yours and mine. And that is three times the 700B we all argued about so strenuously just this past September. Who has this money? Why do they have it? Why are the terms unavailable to us? Who asked for it? Who authorized it? I thought this was a government of we the people, who loaned our powers to our elected leaders. Apparently not.
We have spent two or more decades intentionally de-industrializing our economy. Why?
We have intentionally dumbed down our schools, ignored our history, and no longer teach our founding documents, why we are exceptional, and why we are worth preserving. Students by and large cannot write, think critically, read, or articulate. Parents are not revolting, teachers are not picketing, school boards continue to back mediocrity. Why?
We have now established the precedent of protesting every close election (now violently in California over a proposition that is so controversial that it wants marriage to remain between one man and one woman. Did you ever think such a thing possible just a decade ago?). We have corrupted our sacred political process by allowing unelected judges to write laws that radically change our way of life, and then mainstream Marxist groups like ACORN and others to turn our voting system into a banana republic. To what purpose?
Now our mortgage industry is collapsing, housing prices are in free fall, major industries are failing, our banking system is on the verge of collapse, social security is nearly bankrupt, as is medicare and our entire government, our education system is worse than a joke (I teach college and know precisely what I am talking about)the list is staggering in its length, breadth, and depth. It is potentially 1929 x ten. And we are at war with an enemy we cannot name for fear of offending people of the same religion, who cannot wait to slit the throats of your children if they have the opportunity to do so.
And now we have elected a man no one knows anything about, who has never run so much as a Dairy Queen, let alone a town as big as Wasilla, Alaska. All of his associations and alliances are with real radicals in their chosen fields of employment, and everything we learn about him, drip by drip, is unsettling if not downright scary (Surely you have heard him speak about his idea to create and fund a mandatory civilian defense force stronger than our military for use inside our borders? No? Oh of course. The media would never play that for you over and over and then demand he answer it. Sarah Palins pregnant daughter and $150,000 wardrobe is more imporant.)
Mr. Obamas winning platform can be boiled down to one word: change.
I have never been so afraid for my country and for my children as I am now.
This man campaigned on bringing people together, something he has never, ever done in his professional life. In my assessment, Obama will divide us along philosophical lines, push us apart, and then try to realign the pieces into a new and different power structure. Change is indeed coming. And when it comes, you will never see the same nation again.
And that is only the beginning.
And I thought I would never be able to experience what the ordinary, moral German felt in the mid-1930s. In those times, the savior was a former smooth-talking rabble-rouser from the streets, about whom the average German knew next to nothing. What they did know was that he was associated with groups that shouted, shoved, and pushed around people with whom they disagreed; he edged his way onto the political stage through great oratory and promises. Economic times were tough, people were losing jobs, and he was a great speaker. And he smiled and waved a lot. And people, even newspapers, were afraid to speak out for fear that his brown shirts would bully them into submission. And then, he was duly elected to office, a full-throttled economic crisis at hand [the Great Depression]. Slowly but surely he seized the controls of government power, department by department, person by person, bureaucracy by bureaucracy. The kids joined a Youth Movement in his name, where they were taught what to think. How did he get the people on his side? He did it promising jobs to the jobless, money to the moneyless, and goodies for the military-industrial complex. He did it by indoctrinating the children, advocating gun control, health care for all, better wages, better jobs, and promising to re-instill pride once again in the country, across Europe, and across the world.
He did it with a compliant mediadid you know that? And he did this all in the name of justice and . . . change. And the people surely got what they voted for.
(Look it up if you think I am exaggerating.)
Read your history books. Many people objected in 1933 and were shouted down, called names, laughed at, and made fun of. When Winston Churchill pointed out the obvious in the late 1930s while seated in the House of Lords in England (he was not yet Prime Minister), he was booed into his seat and called a crazy troublemaker. He was right, though.
Dont forget that Germany was the most educated, cultured country in Europe. It was full of music, art, museums, hospitals, laboratories, and universities. And in less than six yearsa shorter time span than just two terms of the U. S. presidencyit was rounding up its own citizens, killing others, abrogating its laws, turning children against parents, and neighbors against neighbors. All with the best of intentions, of course. The road to Hell is paved with them.
As a practical thinker, one not overly prone to emotional decisions, I have a choice: I can either believe what the objective pieces of evidence tell me (even if they make me cringe with disgust); I can believe what history is shouting to me from across the chasm of seven decades; or I can hope I am wrong by closing my eyes, having another latte, and ignoring what is transpiring around me.
Some people scoff at me, others laugh, or think I am foolish, naive, or both. Perhaps I am. But I have never been afraid to look people in the eye and tell them exactly what I believeand why I believe it.
I pray I am wrong. I do not think I am."
>I also got the feeling that “Something of historic proportions is happening”
All I can say is that with all these people with experiential knowledge warning us in various ways I’m getting kind of apprehensive.
A new Hitler?
A second Civil War?
Who wrote this? John Galt?....
Extremely suspicious that the Fed would ‘loan’ Two Trillion and then not tell where the money went. Several things about that that I haven’t gotten my head around yet.
They don’t want to cause a bank run on the insolvent banks. Simple as that.
Makes sense, and I hope that’s ‘all’ there is to it, although it’s enough.
psst I know what it is.
SomeOne very important is coming!
Quickly, I hope!
link to source please?
"We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."There's your what.
Did you write this?
Concisely stating my sentiments exactly. In every respect.
The ultimate enigma to me is: We read his words, we look into his history, such as is available, thinking that they will give us insight into his thinking. But we’re not permitted to take him at his word nor criticize his actions nor to object on any of those grounds.
So, either we no longer know how to read; or we know how to read, and we’ve been taken over by a liar and a mob of people who voted for being lied to. It all seems so very delusional.
The world is re-arranging itself in economic terms.
"I am extremely impressed with myself, and I wasn't paying attention when they covered pronouns and antecedents in English class."
yup, der volks have spoken
A second Civil War?
CW II...lock and load
I heard about this a couple of days ago-is there a news article about it? Two TRILLION$ is an eye-opener- where is it?
This guy could use a roll of tin foil
We can only hope!
Nothing to see here, move on and spend your time in the supermarket deciding between the dozens of toothpaste brands you’re offered. /sarc
It’s not “we”, who has done these things. Jeesh, identify the enemy.
my husband jokes that my spiritual gift is “worry” and I’m demonstrating that a lot lately. I am very worried about what I see happening around me, esp. of late the violent reactions against Christians re: the vote in California. I expect it to get much worse, and I am sad for my children. I cried on Veteran’s Day and asked all those valiant heroes who died fighting for our country to forgive us for losing the great battle. I fear that Joe McCarthy was right, even tho’ many have tried to ridicule his statements. I am embarrassed at how we have treated our current President and allowed others who want to tear down this country to continue to berate him and hurt our military. Call me a redneck, but I am proud to be one of those who cling to my gun and my religion. My prayers and my ability to shoot straight may be the only protection I’ll be able to offer my children in the coming dark days. God help us!
H wasn't a smooth talker. He was a dynamic speaker, but not smooth. When he came to power he'd been around in politics for over a decade. Germans knew exactly who he was. He'd written a best-seller about what he was going to do, and it's more or less what he did when he got the power.
What they did know was that he was associated with groups that shouted, shoved, and pushed around people with whom they disagreed; he edged his way onto the political stage through great oratory and promises. Economic times were tough, people were losing jobs, and he was a great speaker.
And he smiled and waved a lot.
Ha ha ha. Hitler was no Obama. He was neither kinder nor gentler, and never tried to pretend he was. He was no smiler.
It is more likely that more than half of that money has been injected into foreign banks to prop them up. They know the American people would go ballistic if they thought we were first investing in banks overseas while our own economy was in a downward spiral.
A new Hitler?
A second Civil War?
An imposition of a Marxist government subservient to the socialists and Marxist countries such as Russia and CHina?
I saw the words “Dollard’s Place”, went to google, typed in Dollard’s and found the article that was posted:
Most of that $2 Trillion is to backstop the Commercial Paper market until the financial system regains its footing. Remember that no one was lending overnight to each other. The reason you can't say who it is lent to is that the lendee changes every night.
Commercial paper is how firms with financial purposes (whether a bank, broker, GE Credit, GMAC, etc) fund their operations and lending activities, instead of how commercial banks lend for longer periods of time and need to have a certain level of capital backing the lending.
Without it, many large companies would be forced into liquidation. I was at Drexel Burnham when this happened. Drexel went out of business in 48 hours because the market would not provide it with this overnight lending. Drexel was a $4 billion company that was very profitable even up to the day it went bankrupt.
Mayan calender says civilization ends Dec23, 2012
The President elect is a muslim, there are pictures of him at muslim businesses throughout the Mid east and Africa wearing Friday down at the mosque garb. Clearly they state he is one of us and welcome.
All the little punk nations are pumping their chests and saying FY to the US of A
All the G7/8 is suffering a cold, the rest pneumonia. This is what overturns gov’ts and causes wars.
All in summary? We are on a war footing. Locals are buying guns and ammo. Bible says end days. The great false prophet will rise from the new Rome. Mayan calender concurs civilization is done dec 23,2012.
Apocalypse is just around the corner!
So HUGE it is... good luck.
I'm not saying this guy is right, but I'm sure that Churchill heard a lot of comments similar to yours (in the vernacular of that time, of course).
I don’t see that many paralells with Post WWI Germany. The analogy just doesn’t hang together.
It’s not “we”, who has done these things. Jeesh, identify the enemy.
Now, compared to pre-Hitler’s Germany
When did they start doing that? what year?
Amen, Kimmie! What’s sad is intelligent people fell for this guy. Then again, it was predictied in the Bible.
You are most likely correct..........if you never studied history. I was raised during WWII and saw much of what this article is talking about. Compare what is happening today. If you don’t, you are most likely to repeat history and that will be a shame for this country. People say it will never happen here. They are fools if they don’t pay attention.
Re: the Endtimes stuff - I’m Jewish, so I don’t believe in the Book of Revelations, but doesn’t it state somewhere that the AntiC’s chief aide will be a Jew? If so, the fact that he has named Rahm Emanuel as his Chief of Staff is not exactly a cause for celebration.
The difference between then and now is that we know what happened with Hitler so we can resist it, and another difference is that Hitler actually was somewhat competent as a leader.
I don’t really care who tells me to wear the tinfoil any more. You (not you personally) would be a fool to ignore all of the signs that are right in our faces. Even a very casual student of history such as myself can see the potential outcomes from our current situation. None of them are good. Folks, scoff at your own expense.
I didn't write the article, just posted it as I felt it might interest the good folks at FR.
But if you can single out the enemies for us all . . .
I won’t post a vanity, but here are my thoughts.
I see many opportunities for dentists.
You are not the only one feeling apprehensive.
I have noticed a few news stories on the sudden rush to buy firearms. Apparently the gun shops are seeing record sales.
I suppose “fear of the unknown” is mostly the driving force but heck, what we do know doesn’t give me any warm-fuzzies either.
I have to admit, the hair is standing up on the back of my neck, too.
My guess is that all those things that the Dims have been raising Holy H@!! about; like domestic wiretaps, and secret military ops will be embraced by ZeroBama and used to wipe out his enemies.
As long as he doesn’t piss-off the MSM (I’m not holding my breath), we are in for a very un-civil, civil war.
Well, I must shuffle off to the gun store now. I just don’t know what else to do....pathetic, I know.
“I hope that’s ‘all’ there is to it...”
Blue, keep in mind also the re-institution of the “Fairness Doctrine” is coming: the suppression of the free speech of the loyal opposition.
Count me as concerned!
Economic blackmail by _______ (name country)?
That make sense. Also explains the hush.
I am not sure from where you think you can draw such a ‘simple’ conclusion but it ignores the law and the recent provisions of the FDIC.
The fact of the matter is there is no oversight set up to monitor the decisions regarding taxpayer’s money. Oversight, although written into law, is not yet assembled and therefore there is no accountability. The ‘emergency’ has blindsided the public and their elected officials. This is indeed unsettling as a minimum.
Unless you have some factual basis (you don’t) to back up your oversimplified post, I will add you to the pile of those that post ignorance and add to that problem.
