Dan is solid conservative from a solidly conservative district. CA is not all lattes and wine parties.

Can you tell us more about him? His rep here isn’t very good, and you can give us more to work with. What about the anti-gun votes?

Looks like Lee Marvin in the Dirty Dozen, to me.

Many years ago, I was in the Placentia city hall on business as Lundgren held a press conference on “Gun Crime.” He had a couple of tables full of confiscated firearms (mostly junk) and bragged about the state/county/city efforts to “get guns off the streets.”

Back then was still AJ and ramping up for his failed run at Governor.

Lundgren is a real Catholic and therefore pro-life and pro-marriage, i.e. good on the social issues. On illegal immigration, guns, taxes...definitely more of a Rockefeller/Country Club Republican.

If the choice was between him and a sharp stick in the eye I'd have to ask...how big a stick? how sharp is it? and which eye do I have to take it in....but I'd probably still prefer him over a far left guy.

If Dan Lungren does to the national party what he did to CALGOP, we will be in the wilderness for a very long time.

His worst sins were in not giving money to people in close races because they were too conservative. Especially the governor's race that gave us Grey Davis.

If the Republican party chooses another RINO turd or some lets all get along type then it is the end of me in this party.
I’m tired of mamby pamby let’s all get along b.s.
I am a Regan Conservative where less govt. is best govt. and that is not what the pubbies did when they had power.
Enough tryingto be dem lite. Time to be REAL conservatives again.

He recently won an award from the Taxpayers Against Fraud - I think it’s called the Honest Abe award.
He’s great on Homeland Security and National Defense.
100% from the NRLC.
0% from the HRC on gay rights (that’s a good thing)
Recently authored a bill (that went nowhere mind you) that would prevent the children of illegals crossing the border citizenship - eliminating the issue with ‘anchor babies’.
As for guns - during his run against Gray Davis for Governor - Davis continually railed against him for not doing enough to enforce the Assault Weapons Ban.
He recently voted against the legislation to allow law suits against gun manufacturers similar to the tobacco law suits.
The left thinks he’s an arch conservative on everything from taxes to guns to abortion.

I suggest you do your own research, but all in all I think he’s a great rep and a solid conservative. Plus, he’s not too far from SF geographically (about 2-3 hours) so he might be able to make things sticky for Madam Speaker.

nobody’s perfect but he’s as conservative as they come.

The question is whether he is a Spartan Leonidas or a Chamberlain?

Thumbs up or thumbs down???

If you knew the history of this gun-grabbing turncoat you wouldn't even need to ask.

Gun confiscation in California

Because of all the confusion surrounding the legality of owning any of the SKS rifles, California passed AB 48 to grant immunity to them. However, AB 48 also set up the state's current buyback program of SKS "Sporters" because Lungren in 1997, under political pressure in a run for the governor's office, reversed his earlier decision about SKS rifles with detachable magazines making them illegal.

SKS Rifles and California Law:

In November of 1997 former Attorney General Dan Lungren, in a reversal of the position his office had held since 1991, decided that any SKS type rifle with a detachable magazine was illegal per penal code 12276 (Assault Weapons Control Act). Additionally, the AG decided that registration of such rifles would not be accepted by his office. As a result, thousands of SKS owners were put at risk of arrest.

In order to protect SKS owners and rectify wrongful prosecutions, the National Rifle Association asked Assemblyman Rod Wright (D-South Central LA) to author emergency corrective legislation. On September 27, 1998, Governor Wilson signed this legislation, AB 48, into law. The new law, which took effect on January 1, 1999, specifically deals with the model known as the "SKS Sporter."

Dan is far from a RINO.

I am getting so sick of that term.

How many of your “milk toast semi-socialist pretend conservatives” have a record like his?
100% pro-life.
100% pro-family.
He lost the governorship because people thought he was too conservative on guns.
He helped save and push through the FISA legislation when it looked bad.
He is anti-illegal immigration including trying to eliminate citizenship for ‘anchor babies’.

I can’t say that I am 100% behind the bail out, but I’m proud to have a local rep with whom I agree about 95% of the time.
