Today, Barack Obama is meeting with John McCain. Jonathan Martin and Jake Tapper seem confident that a Cabinet position is not in the offing. They're probably right.
But why not? Specifically, I could see McCain as Energy Secretary, tasked with playing a major role in helping Obama pass legislation to deal with global warming. If Obama is going to do something on this front, he'll absolutely need bipartisan help, given the pain and dislocations it would entail. Getting a high-profile Republican to lead the charge would be smart, possibly even essential. And McCain likes both bipartisanship and big, crazy-sounding gambits. I'm not predicting this, but it's just crazy enough to work.
I feel that McLoser has earned the right to lead the charge for global warming legislation. After that, he can help out with immigration reform and more campaign finance reform...
McCain is a sellout!
The Obama people clearly see McCain as a strong potential useful idiot for their administration.
John McCain for Secretary of Defense? He would be good at it.
that’s to get him out of senate and put dem from arizona in his place.
they’ll pick up the final senate seat after stealing minnesota for
franken. mccain has no business being energy secretary.
That’s what I figure. Get him out of the senate and have the Rat Governor appoint another Rat. I wouldn’t be surpised if McCain didn’t go for it. He just loves those Rats and I’m sure he hates conversatives even more since his loss.
They want McCain’s Senate seat. McCain’s energy knowledge is non-existent.
The President, Senate and House all are Democrat. Any call for bipartisan participation is a smokescreen.
Good point. I'm sure that McLoser will reach across the isle to help them.
Isn’t McCain too old to be energetic?
...I hope you haven’t just come to this conclusion...
Czar of Immigration, Global Warming and Incorrect Speech.
John is a multitasker.
He would be asked to lead the retreat from Iraq. Would he be good at that?
Well, he always wanted to be a dimocrat. Now he can. PLUS, look at the bright side, we would have his sorry ass out of the Senate.
I would support that. We need someone in that role who is maverick enough to speak his mind to Obama with no qualms. Clearly McCain can do that.
The campaign he ran told me all I needed to know. This should surprise me but it doesn't.
Where was that “maverick” during the race. Seems to me he spent a lot of time tip toeing around Bambi rather than speaking his mind.
Obama needs McCain like he needs a hole in the head. Besides, if he really wants a nitwit for Energy Secretary he need look no further than the 'rats' own Algore.
wha’ obamao needs another dem senate seat?
and janet nepolitano gets to appoint a dem?
Court Jester!
