The Ad Age President Who 'Killed Election Day'
Pajamas Media ^ | November 13, 2008 | Tom Blumer

Barack Obama’s presidential victory last Tuesday was a triumph of clever advertising, slick marketing, and subversion of the way elections were run in America for over 200 years.

I’m not saying that. Fawning advertisers, marketers, and writers at Advertising Age are.

On October 17, two and a half weeks before the election, Ad Age named the Obama campaign its 2008 Marketer of the Year, beating out the

This is a very good article. If we all know the Credit card automatic verification was turned off then what do we do about it?

Is Obama not subject to rules and laws because he is black, Marxist, popular or a media darling? If this was a Republican the investigation would have started long ago and I have no doubts that the media would be crying foul from every corner.

The early voting has to stop and the author is absolutely brilliant on that point. The Rats complain about stolen elections but never offer any proof or any names of those disenfranchised.

Here it was out in the open, literally, in your face corruption and no one said a thing. If Republicans don’t grow a pair and get some changes made they won’t win another national election. Obama’s being Black or the first this or that is meaningless to me. I will treat him and expect others to treat him just as they would a Caucasian, Asian or Hispanic Marxist.

Good article, but it’s not complete.

Part of the marketing was not Obama’s, but of the press, who maligned Bush at every opportunity and non opportunity. Even when he did nothing, they found something to complain about.

This went on for years. Unless Obama’s team was pulling the strings before Emperor Zero was in the US Senate, this was not his team.

This marketing of brand-failue gave the causal politico something to hate: the Bushitlers. No matter who ran against Obama, they were portrayed as part of the problem caused by old politics and old people. This invalidated the wisdom and the vitues of the sages and the founding fathers as well. It is why we needed CHANGE. McCain’s being “old” was his biggest problem; he lost before the gates were opened.

Actually, other than the internet publicity and the credit card manipulation, Obama copied many of the tactics of another successful politician, who also used a unique logo, cashed in on the citizens hope for change, promised that his government would make them proud citizens again, promised that the world would respect the nation again and offered help from the government for virtually every financial problem carried by his backers. Oh, and let us not forget how the nation needed change and how important hatred is as a political tool. Obama copied Adolph Hitler.

The marketing suits missed these similarities. But, in their defense, I must say that it is a malady suffered by all socialists; they have this strange need to compliment their new leader instead of truly measuring his character and the virtues of his new (old) politics.

If I am correct, he paid a higher percentage to his cc proessesor without using AVS verification. It makes it so obvious that he just didnt care where the money comes from or who. When I run a cc, for each piece of info correctly provided it is at a cheaper rate. But I’m probably racist for asking. (I have been told I’m crazy to ask for it all, but I’m covering my butt!)

Complaints about spending, a media obsession in presidential elections for at least the past 30 years when the GOP had the funding edge, were conveniently non-existent this time around.

The media CONTINUES to dig their own grave as they have become campaign associates for the latest Democratic redistribution scheme.

Not much you can do. There's nothing illegal about that. All it means is the campaign paid a slightly higher transaction rate.

Good article. It is the voter’s responsibility to be informed of the issues. Trouble is, the media bias doesn’t make that easy.

I didn’t know. I am quite ignorant in campaign contribution matters. It would seem McCain’s reforms did very little to help him and actually worked to his detriment.

I thought for sure that all funds received would have to be accounted for by the various campaigns. I can see where the higher rates wouldn’t matter to Obama because much of it would be funds he could not receive legally otherwise.

I can certainly understand that candidates can’t look at each contributor and know who is contributing to their campaign. Yet, when a campaign deliberately has AVS shut off, at a greater cost to the Campaign, I think it is obvious that the campaign did so to receive illicit contributions.

The press is a product of contemporary education. I well remember the little reporterette who viewed the Supreme Court Justices walking down the Capitol steps and made this comment: “Why they are just a bunch of old white men!” I about fell out of my chair, I just didn't understand where that came from. I fully understand now.

The early voting has to stop and the author is absolutely brilliant on that point.

Then again, if the early voting had begun the day after the RNC ended, the results would have been very different. The fault was the GOP's and 527s for waiting far too long to hit Obama hard and erode his numbers.

Pretty soon now
Y’know I’m gonna make a comeback
And like the birds and the bees in the trees
It’s a sure-fire smash
I’ll speak
To the masses throughout the media
And if you got anything to say to me
You can say it with cash
’cause I got the trash and you got the cash
So baby we should get along fine
So give me all your money ’cause I know you think I’m funny
Can’t you hear me laughing
Can’t you see me smile

I’m the man
I’m the man that gave you the hula-hoop
I’m the man
I’m the man that gave you the yo-yo

Kung fu
That was one of my good ones
Well what’s a few broken bones
When we all know it’s good clean fun
Skateboards
I’ve almost made them respectable
You see I can’t always get through to you
So I go for your son
I had a giant rubber shark and it really made a mark
Didja looka looka lookit alla blood
Give me all your money ’cause I know you think I’m funny
Can’t you hear me laughing
Can’t you see me smile

I’m the man
I’m the man that gave you the hula-hoop
I’m the man
I’m the man that gave you the yo-yo

Right now
I think I’m gonna plan a new trend
Because the line on the graph’s getting low
And we can’t have that
And you think you’re immune
But I can sell you anything
Anything from a thin safety pin
To a pork pie hat
’cause I got the trash and you got the cash
So baby we should get along fine
So give me all your money ’cause I know you think I’m funny
Can’t you hear me laughing
Can’t you see me smile

I’m the man
I’m the man that gave you the hula-hoop
I’m the man
I’m the man that gave you the yo-yo
