Hi Bill,

In your recent Townhall piece you posit that there are Republicans who feel that

Governor Palin is too unqualified to lead, so it's better for them if they maginalize

her now so they won't have to deal with her again in 2012.

You couldn't be more wrong.

Her assailants, from the Right and the Left (and the media..., ahem) have seen

what she has done in Alaska as Governor. Huge Oil Company lobbies shut down.

Oil revenues going into the hands of the voters. Powerful, entrenched "old boy network"

mavens gone, castrated, or in jail... Democrats and Republicans.

Palin's attackers have no misgivings about her ability to lead. They see what she's done

in just two years in the Great White North, and they are justifiably terrified. They watch her

draw 30,000 screaming rally-goers in the same city where Biden drew 400, and their

bowels loosen.

For one as astute as you to imply that their concern, for good or ill, is over her

qualifications or ability to lead... ...really only speaks to your own candor and integrity. You can fool

some of us some of the time, but you don't fool me with your subtle innuendo. And as for

Palin's public detractors; their redeeming speck is that they at least don't masquerade as a

spin-free impartial observer who is "looking out for me."

Many times Bill IS right. In fact, maybe even most of the time.

But not always... and when he is wrong he seems to be completely incapable of accepting that. Even when some of his other Fox hosts call him (like Greta or Megan Kelly).

He doesn’t like Palin because she didn’t appear on his show. Plain and simple. Never mind the fact that McCain wouldn’t let her.

The first time I heard BO come down on Palin, that was it. I knew he was pandering to someone for something — maybe to Murdoch for a bigger paycheck, maybe for ratings, who knows? But I don’t care. I sent protest emails to FOX about it. Frankly, I don’t care what he is after.

If he does not care for Palin, he should just STFU about her. She did more for the Repub ticket, to revitalize a near-dead conservative base than McCain did, let alone what the entire FOX staff could do.

For anyone interested, go read up on the Alaska Highway Pipeline that Sarah Palin negotiated to be built by TransCanada Corp. Sarah busted the chops of ExxonMobil, ConnocoPhillips and BP who had been sitting on their butts for years not wanting to build a much needed gas pipeline coming off the North Slope. In doing so, this new pipeline will provide the USA with 6%-8% of natural gas needs. Iran, Russia, and Qatar are in the process of forming a natural gas cartel. Sarah Palin just beat those three countries in a geopolitical economic war and put the USA on the road to ensured independence for our natural gas needs.

And Obama has done what? What has that nasty little do-nothing ever done? Nothing! Obama can't hold a candle to Sarah Palin’s achievements!

Sarah Palin is a very intelligent woman who is making America energy independent and Obama is a complete MORON who is going to strangle the USA into serfdom to the terrorist nations who produce energy.

Well, he said on the Stephen Colbert show the other night that he liked and respected Barack Obama and thought he ran the best political campaign of his lifetime. The other night my DH was watching and I was nursing one of my babies (so essentially trapped in my chair for awhile) and he flipped to FOX. BOR and Carl Cameron were going to town BLASTING Governor Palin with UNSUBSTANTIATED GOSSIP FROM UNNAMED SOURCES, and having a field day!!! Reporting it as if it were fact—I was so disgusted I picked up the boppy nursing pillow and the baby and went to the bedroom. >:-(

They saw her impact in Alaska and know full well what she is capable of. They loathe her ability to connect with common Americans all over the country.

That appeal was evident not only in the large numbers who came out to see her, but in the excitement generated at those rallies.

She accomplished more in a few short weeks in that regard on the national stage than other politicians have in a life time...and so they want to do whatever they can to marginalize and stop her and keep her from bringing that to DC.

But they shall completely fail in their attempts to destroy her because this is EXACTLY what most Americans want to see happen in DC and many will find out soon enough how they have been bamboozled by Obama in that regard.

The more these people seek to down play her and besmirch her with these underhanded, cowardly attacks, the more the conservative base and common Americans will rally to her.

For our part, we must do what we can to stand in the breach and write our GOP senators and urge them to stand.

At the same time standing up in any way we can ourselves over these next four years until we can turn this OBAMANATION out.

There are people within the Republican party who want the Republican party to collapse. These people see Sarah as a threat because she will restore the party they have so desperately seek to destroy.

For instance, the leadership of the NC GOP has sought to destroy Republican candidates for more than ten years. Sadly, old guard Republicans have been too stupid to see it (No way a Republican would try to harm another, especially one who looks like a nice old granny!).

So ask yourself ‘why would someone seek to destroy the party from within?’

Obviously, it is an age old tactic that requires little more than dedication to a cause, persistence and a decent ability to act. “Moles” are everywhere, in every major group and this technique of “warfare” is not going anywhere.

The fascinating thing about the latest round of Palin bashing is John McCain's reaction. A day after the election, Fox News political correspondent Carl Cameron reported on my TV program that some anonymous McCain staffers were frustrated because Palin didn't know much about the world. The now famous accusation is that the governor did not even know that Africa is a continent.

Palin immediately denied it, and you would think McCain would have stopped that kind of vicious garbage in its tracks. But it took the senator six days before he publicly stuck up for her. So let me ask you something. If a friend of yours was being humiliated, would it take you six days to lend support?

I think he is not questioning whether Sarah knows anything about Africa, but rather, whether McCain is LETTING Sarah sink for some inexplicable reason.

I, too, want to know why the entire McCain family let this happen.

O'Reilly continues: As for McCain, my colleague Juan Williams believes he just didn't care enough to step up and defend his running mate. He lost, he's resigned, that's that. It's impossible to read anyone's mind, but McCain demonstrated the same lack of urgency in dealing with the Palin-bashers that he did throughout the campaign: There's an economic crisis in this country. Did you get the feeling McCain understood that?

He winds up the column by coming to Sarah's defense: It's impossible to ascertain exactly why Palin continues to get hammered, but fair-minded Americans surely know that it is unnecessary and mean-spirited. This time, enough really is enough.
