What about a leap in technology? Case less ammunition?
Any word on something completely new?

Caseless ammo was pretty much shelved a number of years ago; not because of any technical issue (they had actually worked the bugs out) but because of lack of interest from militaries after the end of the Cold War.

(Overwhelmingly superior firepower and the willingness to use it is the only proven peace solution.)
Caseless ammo was a dead end. To dirty, to expensive, and if I remember right there were some problems in the operation of the firearms.
Still, it is an interesting concept.
