A few? Look at the special treatment we give homosexuals and it is getting worse. Look how prayer is increasingly banned from public meetings. Look how often the Ten Commandments are tossed from the public square. Look how church attendance has dropped off. Look at the lack of morality in our young people. Look at the teen pregnancy rate. Look at how Hollywood glorifies sin. No, America has abandoned God and maybe it’s time for payback. I don’t know.

“No, America has abandoned God and maybe it’s time for payback. I don’t know.”

America has not abandoned God. IMO we have the same number of Christians now as we did 50 years ago. Instead of people faking being Christian they are much more open about their rejection of God.

God also doesn’t do payback.

Okay, not payback but judgment. God definitely does judgment.

“Moreover, the overall number of membership of all Protestant denominations in America has declined over the last ten years by 9.5 percent, while the national population has increased by 11 percent.”

“God definitely does judgment.”

OK we definitely agree on that.

Church membership has dropped but IMO those people weren’t really Christians. Going to church is not what makes a Christian.

It used to be abnormal to skip church, now its not.

I’m not arguing what makes a Christian. I am arguing that America, as a nation, has abandoned God and His principles.

“I am arguing that America, as a nation, has abandoned God and His principles.”

And I’m saying I don’t agree with you. Yes some people have left God but the majority have not. Remember the reason they are protesting is because a majority of people voted for this.

They want to instill fear in God’s children. My God is greater than the gays and Obama put together.

I understand God is greater than he who is in the world. I also understand God’s wrath and judgment and I don’t deny America deserves it.

John McArthur has a interesting article from last year and things have only gotten worse.

“Now let me break that down for you a little bit. Three times the verb “gave them over” is used...three times. The wrath of abandonment is when God gives a nation over. This verb, paradidomi, can have a judicial sense. It’s used often in Greek literature in terms of law courts and criminal courts. It comes down to handing a prisoner over for punishment. It’s even used in the case of Jesus being handed over for a crucifixion. Each of these uses of the verb in this text express the fact that the wrath of God has acted to hand over a society to sentence...to hand them over. As the historian Schiller(?) said, years ago, “The history of the world is the judgment of the world.” There comes a time in a nation when God has had enough and He literally lets go and turns them over to the sentence that they have passed upon themselves by their incessant sinful choices. To see it another way, they are deprived of restraining grace.”
