THE 2008 presidential campaign may be over, but Sarah Palin's moment in the spotlight has yet to run its course.
In a media marathon last week, the Republican Party's vice presidential nominee sat down for interviews with CNN's Larry King and Wolf Blitzer; had Matt Lauer of the "Today" show up to Wasilla for a family dinner; and told Fox News's Greta Van Susteren about getting the call from John McCain on her cellphone while she was admiring the local produce at the Alaska State Fair. She disdained the Republican "jerks" who spread anonymous rumors painting her as geographically illiterate, and vehemently denied the accusation that she had milked the campaign for a $150,000 wardrobe for herself and her family.
All that was a prelude to her star turn at the Republican Governors Association meeting in Miami, where she met reporters at a press conference, drew standing ovations from several hundred GOP donors, and humorously updated her fellow governors on what she'd been doing since last year's meeting.
"I had a baby," she told them. "I did some traveling; I very briefly expanded my wardrobe; I made a few speeches; I met a few VIPs, including those who really impact society, like Tina Fey."
Of course she was asked whether she plans to run for president in 2012, and of course she deflected the question. "The future is not that 2012 presidential race; it's next year and our next budgets," she said. But there can't be much doubt that Palin has become the brightest star in the GOP firmament. A whopping 91 percent of Republicans have a favorable view of her, according to a recent Rasmussen poll, and she is the runaway favorite when they are asked to rank possible contenders for the party's 2012 presidential nominee.

I love her, but I want to see the situation handled carefully. If BHO is in good shape for re-election, I’d rather let someone we can afford to lose (Romeny, Huckabee, even Pawlenty) be the sacrificial lamb and Palin and Jindal and Sanford can all be good choices in eight years.
If BHO is very vulnerable next time, i only want Sarah to take on that task if she has built up a lot of credibility in the mean time and had some serious tutoring to knock down some of those perceived weaknesses. I want her to be teflon the next times she runs, If she’s not, I’m perfectly happy to have Sanford as our next nominee.
The Left will not let go of Sarah.She will be attacked by their MSM as if she had actually won—their hate for God and country runs so deep.
McCain was nothing to me,like most conservatives I voted FOR Sarah and AGAINST Obama.
Which made the non-black among us all “racists” in the demented world of the left. In fact,from Jan 20 on,all non-blacks who oppose the policies of the president will be vilified as “racists.” (all others will be simply branded as stupid sell-outs) The word will be used to end discussion better than a loud fart.
The Left have reversed the positive meanings of words like “gay” and “progressive” into negatives.We should reverse the negative “racist” into something positive.
We can make it the acronym R.A.C.I.S.T. for “Republicans Allied to Combat Insidious Socialist Trends.”

She’s the governor of a state, which happens to be so far out of the public eye they don’t even include it in on national weather forecast maps, but if she were as dimwitted as her detractors would make her out to be, she wouldn’t have got an 80 per cent approval rating. She’s got two strikes against her when she gets into the big arena, she’s a woman so she can’t even sit beside a swimming pool without a picture being taken and the comments on her sex appeal flowing from that, both pro and con, and she speaks with a rural twang. What they don’t realize there are three strikes in this game, and she still hits it out of the ballpark.
Despite what this article says, the press conference went badly, through no fault of Palin's.
It's obvious that she's got a fifth column to deal with too, specifically good ol' boy GOP governors, led by Rick Perry and Tim Pawlenty, who are intensely jealous of her and her sudden rise to fame. She represents a hugh threat to them and their own Presidential aspirations, and they want to destroy her too.
Talk about one woman against the world!

I am a Sarah-holic. I’ve read and watched everything I could find, and I’ve asked myself why.
I’ve even asked myself whether I would still be a Sarah-holic if she looked like, oh say, Debbie Stabenow or Clare McCaskill, female politicians who are not especially attractive. But I’ve decided that’s a moot question, because Sarah is attractive. Her attractiveness is not just in her looks, but in her demeanor. She is sunny, cheerful, and optimistic - in a way that fills a room.
Most important, she is (in Margaret Thatcher’s phrase) “one of us.” She holds our values and she lives them. She visibly lives them in the most serious and basic ways. I trust her, and I trust her instincts. That’s the bottom line.
I love God and my country and I will not vote for Palin if she is nominated. Unless my opinion of her somehow changes between then and now, I will volunteer for a conservative third party candidate if Palin is the nominee of the GOP. There is plenty to not like about Palin. She doesn’t have the skills to lead a nation. Sure, she can talk to her fan club, they are willing to overlook her lack of qualifications. It makes the GOP look bad. What are her real accomplishments? I admire her that she didn’t abort her baby. She is so driven to be President for the sake of ambition. The reality is she doesn’t have the skill or training to be President. And if she doesn’t have the skill, then why does she want to be President? It’s purely an ambitious thing. Not an admirable trait for someone who claims to be a Christian.
It’s easy to have an 80% approval rating in Alaska, it’s an oil rich state. It’s easy to have a surplus with all the money coming in from the oil companies. Plus, they have a major woman shortage up in Alaska. It’s not surprising at all that she is so popular. Palin is not dimwitted, she is very smart, but not to lead the country. She is smart in that she is a manipulator. She knows how to rally support behind her. That’s all she is able to do though is excite those who are already her fans. Because she is not articulate, she won’t get anyone else to vote for her besides those who already said they will. In fact, I think she will lose support. I don’t like this group think mentality that is behind Palin. Our country could be in some serious trouble, on the left we have Obama and on the right we have people propping up someone unqualified. I don’t want a figure head who manipulates an adoring crowd. I want a real leader. I don’t want to be manipulated. It’s not what made this country great. Double standards don’t work either. She needs to take care of that baby and stop being so driven by pure ambition just for the sake of ambition.

She’s no Margret Thatcher and she’s not Ronald Reagan in a skirt either. Both people were extremely articulate. They had a lot of substance, never, ever, did either sound like a cheerleader. People need to get a grip.
Sara has superior leadership qualities, which is 95% of what it takes to be a great president. The rest is knowledge gained by marinating in the soup of government information and listening to the many advisors available to those in power.
Get real.
I’m an American first, that’s the bottom line. Believe it or not, there are some in the Democratic Party who are good people too. They might be mistaken about a few things, but Ronald Reagan was able to get those people inspired and some of them he converted.
Palin is not Conservative enough. She does not have enough record to prove her either. I do not believe she can embrace all three pillars of Conservatism, and therefore is a bad choice for the top of the ticket. As VP for a Reagan Conservative, where she can learn the ropes from the real thing, I think she would be fine... but I would not vote for her for president.
Obama is skilled, he’s a skilled marxist. He is going to be very good at getting done the job. The problem is, we don’t want him to do what he is skilled at.

Was GW Bush, having been TX governor, baseball team manager and NG pilot better qualified when he narrowly became president? Not to any significant degree.
You sound more than a little jealous of Mrs. Palin, actually. Or perhaps you’re a Romney supporter. Regardless, the democrats will welcome your third party split-off. But don’t expect them to thank you for it.

I GUARANTEE you that Sara Palin can go toe to toe with him once she has a year or two of what he had under her belt. Government isn’t rocket science.
Big republican donors will come out of the woodwork for her, giving her all of the aide she needs to brush up on her skills, get her “twang” under control, and create a force to be reckoned with.
Wouldn’t you have said the same thing about Obama four years ago? You would have been incredulous that someone with such a weak resume, a Marxist, a drug user and a so called “community organizer”, would have even had the temerity to run for prez.
You may not like her for other reasons, but she is as politically capable as anyone alive today.
