Post office renaming honors Ryan, slain at Jonestown

A San Mateo post office where assassinated Rep. Leo Ryan once had his congressional offices will be renamed in his honor at a ceremony Monday.

The ceremony will take place one day before the 30th anniversary of the Jonestown massacre in Guyana, when Ryan was gunned down by Peoples Temple members on orders from leader Jim Jones. More than 900 cult members died that day, most from ingesting cyanide-laced Flavor-Aid.

Ryan was known for a hands-on, investigative approach to legislating that often took him far from his offices and the centers of power. Before his fateful trip to Jonestown, Ryan traveled to Newfoundland to investigate clubbing deaths of baby harp seals. While in the state Assembly, he was voluntarily incarcerated in Folsom State Prison for eight days to experience the inmates' living conditions.

How many of you watched the special last night on MSNBC?

I tuned in after the first hour & simply had to stay .

I clearly remember when this happened and it was horrifying.

No less horrifying 30 years later with the archival footage.

I know he was a Democrat, but do we even have anyone in Congress with the fortitude & courage to do what he did?

.......when I hear the name “Jim Jones”, why do I think “Barack Obama”?

The same reason that whenever I hear Stalin, I think Obama.

I do believe that the Guyana tragedy gave birth to the term ‘drinking Kool-Aid’ to describe groups of people who blindly follow cult figures like the Obamessiah.

And Jackie Speiers did nothing to investigate the People's Temple. She did nothing to investigate the vote fraud in San Francisco. I hurt so badly for her when she was harmed herself at the time Leo Ryan was murdered. And when I saw that absolutely NOTHING was "permitted" to be looked into re San Francisco, Harvey Milk/Moscone, People's Temple, and then the massacre, my views about Jackie Speiers changed quite a bit. She of any, of many, had the means to raise these issues. She didn't. I've read some recent statements by her which indicates she's become a hard-core "true believer" in Marxism herself.

And to name a Post Office after Leo Ryan seems an insult to his memory, to me. Post offices are continually raising their prices. And so do SF Bay Area Democrats. Bash the private sector, all hail the government growth in spending, bureacracies, control freakism, and minority rights being given more attention than the majority -- except when it comes to CA Republicans who are in the minority. Ask Carole Migden. She has full rights to steal the microphone and vote on behalf of Republicans. And the Democrats didn't say a bloody word against her. Instead, they let Carole flop on the "dui/legally prescribed meds" incident.

What bloody cowards.

Folks like her are ignorant....they have not had their eyes opened in spite of what happened and on a personal level what happened to her.

Sad but true.....unbelieveably true.

Instead, everything in San Francisco was named after George Moscone (the Convention center, Moscone Park) who aided and abetted the rise of Jim Jones and the mass murder in Jonestown.

Post offices are continually raising their prices.

Most businesses do. And since the work of the Post Office in moving mail is tied to increasing fuel prices, it is impossible to avoid postal rate increases. And unlike many tasks the government takes on, postal service is mandated by the Constitution. When I worked for the USPS, I was proud to have the name of Ronald Reagan on the plaque at the entrance to our new post office station.

I have respect for the original intent of a post office. What I do not respect is their skin-color Quota system of hiring, however. There's nothing in the Constitution about that.

White Democrats in the City of San Franisco grew, aided and abetted, a white con man into using his "faithful cult members" to canvass, and vote in White Democrats. The majority of the "faithful cult members" were black. Upon Jimmie Jones' instructions, they committed quite a few criminal acts of abuse upon the rights and lives of others; and upon his orders, took their own lives, and that of their children, and so-called "friends and relatives".

Leo Ryan, a White Democrat, went to Guyana to investigate. He was murdered.

And a Post Office in a well-off, predominantly WHITE district is named after the murdered white Leo Ryan; upon the requests and lobbying by his white aide Jackie Speiers who survived the attack upon Leo Ryan and the San Francisco "newspaper" Crew who accompanied Mr. Ryan; and lobbying by his daughter, now also in Democrat politics in CA.

This makes the bile rise.

It's entirely possible I am the only one seeing this as I do.

Exactly.

And the media, not to mention, bureacrats, sworn to uphold the law, looked into exactly what cat-and-mouse games Moscone and viral Milk were doing to SF Board of Supervisors member, Dan White.

Wiki: In 1966 Moscone ran for and won a seat in the California State Senate, representing the 10th District in San Francisco County.[1] Moscone was quickly rising through the ranks of the California Democratic Party and became closely associated with a loose alliance of progressive politicians in San Francisco led by the Burton brothers. This alliance was known as the Burton Machine and included John Burton, Phillip Burton, and Assemblyman Willie Brown.

I beg to differ. Jackie Speiers is not ignorant. She knew exactly what was happening. If memory serves, Leo Ryan was warned not to go to Guyana. He was all but ordered not to go by his party members. He was murdered in 1978.

The AIDS bathhouse epidemic in San Francisco occurred in 1981. Thousands died in that epidemic. A different kind of cult suicide? Aided and abetted by San Francisco Democrats.

Who is Michel Foucalt and what did he really die from? Socialist insurrections in France in 1968? Inspired in San Francisco, a frequent Bath House guest?
