WASHINGTON John McCains close friend and ally from South Carolina, fellow Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham, will be on hand in Chicago Monday as McCain meets with his former rival, President-elect Barack Obama.
Also attending will be Obamas new chief of staff, Rep. Rahm Emanuel, D-Ill.
In an interview Friday, Graham said Emanuel asked for the meeting about a week ago.
We were talking about some things that we could work together on, Graham said.

Graham mentioned immigration policy and a long-term strategy for Social Security solvency as areas where bipartisan solutions are needed. McCain also has supported lifting restrictions on federal funding for stem-cell research and has championed campaign-finance and anti-corruption efforts, stances that appeal to Obama.
. . . . .
Advisers to both McCain and Obama say they dont expect an administration post for the defeated Republican presidential nominee. But Obamas aides say he would like to have the Arizona senator partner with him on legislation they both have advocated.
McCain's big F-U to conservatives is coming.

They already have a lot of socialist ground in common. It should be easy for them to work together.
Lindsey ping.
It's just more of that "reaching across the isle" horse***t ..
McLame is at it again.
This guy scares me. And I donated to his dang election (solely due to Sarah).
If Sarah has by now had “enough” of this, this might be a good time to speak out to Conservatives.....let the few Republican conservatives make their choice NOW, and let the next 2 and 4 year cycles play out as they will in terms of the R party as such.....

The worst part of this story in my opinion is Lindsey Graham re-elected.Thats a tragedy for this country.

We, the American citizens, stopped this amnesty before and we are going to have to do it again. Let’s just get geared up for the phone calls and faxes and let our voices be heard. Isn’t it somewhere around 80% of us that opposed amnesty?

You say to-mah-to, I say to-may-to.
Mccain will be used as the poster child for the “working across the isle moronic enthusiasts”. He will be the rats stepchild, “look John agrees with us so it must be good, these conservatives are bucking us at every turn and donot have the countries best interest as patriotic Americans” We can just hear the retoric and promotion in the suck a## media. He is no help now and never was any help to the conservative cause but he was better than we ended up with!
Thanks for the props. I’ll bet a dollar to a donut that McCain and Obama have a joint press conference tomorrow praising each other and vowing to work together on immigration reform, global warming, universal health care, closing GITMO, etc, ad nauseum. Watch it happen, mah FRiends.
With McCain in the WH, the Republican/Conservative brand would have been even more muddled
The silver lining in this loss may just be that now we’ve a chance to reassert true Conservatism.
I’m surprised they are trying to seek common ground. All they have to do is look down and realize they’re both neck deep in socialism.
argh!
I have long been an admirer of John McCain, and been flamed many times on FR. But John McCain lost the election and at 72 he is not Gerry Ford of 1977. He is not the leader of the GOP. If Obama wants to seek out GOP assistance let him seek out Mitch McConnell. Let him seek out Sarah Palin and Bobby Jindal. Let him seek out Eric Cantor. The only two votes John McCain is now in a position to deliver is his and Lindsey Graham’s.
Yes Messiah, what ever you wish.
I also.
I had this guy’s number in the late 80s. It’s just more of the same.
We’ll just enjoy watching him prove over and over again why some of are saying, “I told you so.”
what do they have to seek common ground? they ALREADY agree
Yep, McCain's done! He lost and it's time for new leadership...conservative leadership! McCain just proved, with this election, that his way doesn't transfer to votes!
"has championed campaign-finance and anti-corruption efforts, stances that appeal to Obama."
I’m not a big fan of Bush, but McCain would be far worse IMO. This guy is a real wing nut. To my knowledge Bush never teamed up with the likes of Soros or Teressa Heinz Kerry. Good ole Mac didn’t t give it a second thought when he did.
McCain is the reason Clymer was coined. Not really, but he’s the political figure that term best serves IMO.
A man from within can do far more damage than a man from outside. At least we can rally against Obama. Many here would have been defending everything McCain did. There would be McCain day in Prayer and McCain day in Pictures threads. It was already happening.
I am so totally disgusted. McCain will be the Role Model for the Loyal Opposition ("opposition" means "anything you want me to do, boss?") and anybody who actually criticizes or opposes Ovbama's morally offensive and effectively ruinous programs will be chided as saboteurs, obstructionists and racists.
They'll point to McCain: "If you were good, patriotic Republicans, you'd be like him!"
God, please, raise up a couple more Sarahs...
BINGO! Mitch needs to pick up a phone and verbally stuff a sock in Juan's big mouth.
McQueeg should be ashamed. He should be sick for how he used people in the GOP.
Thinking of HIM MAKES ME ILL.
He’s still talking about immigration when the hispanics voted for Obama over him. McCain deserved to loose.
If they find items they can agree on, you can bet your wages that it will be ways to take those wages from you and the rest of us. Happy days are on the way, a long, long way in the future.
> McCain’s big F-U to conservatives is coming.
It must have been pure torture in the campaign to even pretend a little to be on our side.
It’ll be smoochy smoochy with liberals from here on out.
>>And I donated to his dang election (solely due to Sarah).
>I also.
I couldn’t. Just couldn’t bring myself to do it, even with Sarah on the ticket. I made a few phone calls, but could not bring myself to give one thin dime to that RINO, especially knowing that either way the election went I’d soon get my pocket picked by the socialist in the White House.
Betcha he is talking about jumping across the aisle for good. That is what this is about. 2 seats toward 60...
I wonder if he will be as prone to reaching across the aisle from the other direction? He might make one hell of a Conservative as a Democrat! /not really
Thank you!
It can't be mentioned enough... and it needs to be fought, vehemently.

Sorry, some “Socialist” are far worse then others. Especially if they’re Muslim
and a far more threat to this country.
Don’t get me wrong: I voted for McCain (really, for Sarah), and I made some phone calls to voters in swing states. But I could not send money, and partly because I’ve been sending messages back to the RNC (in the envelopes they provide) that I will NOT send money to them unless they change their tune and start returning to their roots.
I sent my fave candidates money directly to them.
