Welcome to the new Sunday `World of the Global Citizen’

All is quiet on the Western Front today, even though world governments taking virtual control of world economies is now complete.

It went down without a peep, with only The Washington Times asking “What if they held a protest and hardly anybody came?”

“The far-left ANSWER coalition—a group that has drawn thousands of anti-war protesters to Washington in the past—mustered about 10 demonstrators Saturday outside the National Building Museum, site of the G-20 economic summit.

“Other G-20 protests drew larger crowds, but ironically, the largest protests Saturday weren’t about ending global capitalism at all.” (The Washington Times, Nov. 16, 2008).

It would seem that the Global Economy is now in the hands of Big Government, including Canada, whose Prime Minister Stephen Harper says Ottawa is ready to boost spending.

A single sign carried by an activist, “Capitalism: Let it Die” said it all.

That there was little if any coverage by Internet giants like the Drudge Report so far today doesn’t make One World Government any less a fait accompli.

The spirit of G20 brings together industrialized nations such as Canada and the United States with the newly developed economies like China and India.

With no fanfare they reached an agreement Saturday to work together in hopes of combating the gathering global recession.

There were no explanations for the chattering classes about how global recession and the death of capitalism coincided overnight—in the case of the USA just weeks before the presidential election. No explanations of how it came to be that the world population fell as one under the utter control of Big Brother Government.

Make that the control of Big Brother Government as dictated by a One World Government, administered by the United Nations.

“The U.S. did not go under the control of Barack Hussein Obama on November 4, 2008. It went under the control of the United Nations. “

There’s nothing wrong with capitalism, but there’s nothing wrong with sovereignty either.

Great tagline material.

I just wish Reagan were around to set today’s free traders straight.

Ummm... I’m going to be an iconoclast here.

The move toward a worldwide economy started a long time ago, when goods from China trudged across the Silk Road to western Europe and the Middle East. Those moves expanded when Western peoples invented oceangoing boats, and, later, dependable aircraft. For all intents, we already live in a one world economy. If I can go down to the village store here in Bush Alaska and buy grapes from Chile, cheese from Italy, and ice cream from Vermont, the one world economy has already arrived, not matter what the G20 or any other group decides.

The same truth extends to the “world government.” We’ve been moving in that direction since the creation of China and the empire of Alexander. We already have churches and organizations and businesses which are global in reach and membership, and that happened long before the United Nations, or even the League of Nations.

My concern isn’t the world government. My concern is the structure of that government. Trying to build a wall around the United States and screaming “I’m sovereign! Stay away! It’s the Antichrist!” isn’t a sound strategy. All the trends point toward greater and greater consolidation, and they have for centuries. The real question is how we maintain individual rights and liberty as that system is formed, which is, in my opinion, why isolating ourselves isn’t going to work. It’s coming.

In fact, I’d argue (to paraphrase Reagan) that we a light to the world concerning the way in which people of many different backgrounds can live together in prosperity and peace. We need to be fighting continuously for traditional American values as embodied in the Constitution. Our absence from this fight allows other, more destructive, ideas to take hold. We can lead with the strength of our values. Giving up isn’t a good idea.

Just my two cents.

The sad truth is, that without national sovereignty, American capitalism runs aground on the ever shifting shoals of foreign state policy.

Yep. We deal with communists because it’s cheap. Freedom be damned and never mind them arming the folks killing our soldiers.

Too bad Reagan couldn’t have remained healthy and served a few more terms. The world would be a very different place.

The globalists quote Reagan to justify their sellout of America but Reagan would have been disgusted with the treasonous scum that wrap themselves in the flag as they sell us down the river.

As Ann Coulter wrote in her new book, the best-qualified of all the candidates is Rep. Duncan Hunter. During the debate he was the candidate who provided the best information about the economy and had a first-rate suggestion of what we need to do.

He keyed in on what must be one of the most important economic issues – trade.

He talked about our shocking $800 billion trade deficit, and what the Chinese are doing to us. Duncan understands that when anybody cites Ronald Reagan as a free-trade advocate in defense of our present trade policies, they need to remember that in my dad's playbook, protection of the American people came before anything else.

Take the case of Harley-Davidson. My father protected this American manufacturer of motorcycles against lower-priced Japanese imports. When he acted in behalf of an American company, Kawasaki and Honda reacted by moving their plants to the U.S. and created American jobs for American workers.

His policy was so successful that although he gave five years of protective tariffs to Harley-Davison, they didn’t even need that long a time before they could turn their company around. Given a level playing field they proved their superiority as an American manufacturer.

Ronald Reagan did the same thing with semiconductors, and the auto and steel industries. He also forced the Japanese and others to open up their markets to American products so that trade would be fair. When that didn’t happen he would impose tariffs on those products coming into the U.S., thus protecting American manufacturers.

Sure, he was a free trader who wanted too open up trade, but he always sought first to protect the sovereignty of the United States and its manufacturing base. He did not confuse free trade with giving the store away.

The effects of our current trade policies and the horrendous trade deficit they have produced are a gun pointed at the heart of our economy, and the Republican who can stand up and tell the truth about this problem and its solutions will be the one who emerges from the pack.
