Even before the US economic crisis pushed all other issues out of the recent Presidential election, an issue that many thought would be a dominant one mysteriously dropped out of the public dialogue: illegal immigration and border control. Not only is that curious but dangerous as well. Most of the Democratic leaders who will try to shape US policy over the next four years have stated their preference for the sort of comprehensive immigration reform that a massive popular action defeated in the Senate last year. During the primaries, candidate Barack Obama charged the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement with terrorizing people when they crack down on illegal immigrants. The subsequent silence about this during the campaign, has given Obama and his allies a sense of entitlement to affect their agenda even though it is at odds with the sentiments of most Americans. In an August 2008 Rasmussen poll, 69 percent of Americans said that border enforcement is more important than legalizing aliens and only 14 percent thought the government is doing enough to secure the borders.

There was a gentlemn’s agreeement between both candidates not to bring this up.....

Sad, but true.
The "landlord" doesn't care whether the lights are on or off in the apartment (how dare you notice what scampers across your kitchen floor.)
The cockroaches aren't the "problem" - it's the 'whiners' who refuse to accept the fact that ALL creatures - whether invited or uninvited - deserve a warm place to live and eat and squat.
I think they were all transferred to protecting our airports from terrorists disguised as middle-aged white people.
The Obama administration will have volunteer community organizers standing at the border to pass out ACORN voter registration cards, picture IDs and water.
Obviously this is not considered a pressing issue by the American public.

“Obviously this is not considered a pressing issue by the American public.”
No, not as long as the likes of you, the liberals and media can keep the public convinced that it isn’t. Do you think you’re above being one of the thousands of victims of illegal alien criminals every year? You must be real special.
The will of the American people no longer matters:

I’d like to see a day without one of these reports. Death by PC....isn’t it great??
Yes, it usually takes some digging to find out the perp is a criminal alien.
Neither the current occupant of the White House, his successor, or the fellow who was beaten are responsive to the American public on this subject. Both Obama and McCain made a career of pandering to illegals and the homegronw abettors who aid them.
No patriotic American would support open borders and perks for illegal aliens.
Last month I was told by my nephew, a Border Patrol agent along the Arizona border, that they’ve been told: No matter who wins the election, get ready for budget cuts, get ready for downsizing of the BP.
