Secret Ballots, Blatant Irony (Senate Dems to use secret ballot for Lieberman's fate!)

Congressional Quarterly:

Senator Says Secret-Ballot in Private Meeting to Determine Whether Democrats Punish Lieberman

Senate Democrats will vote by secret ballot on Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman ’s fate this week, according to North Dakota Sen. Byron L. Dorgan .

The caucus is due to meet Tuesday to decide whether Lieberman, a Democrat-turned-independent from Connecticut, should be punished for his aggressive support of Sen. John McCain , R-Ariz., for president.

Secret ballot, eh? Well, reminding Democrats of this episode should prove amusing when they try and pass card check legislation.

Speaking of card check. What is the ultimate goal of it? To find out who votes against union representation or something else. Because all I hear is how the unions can take advantage of it to coerce non-supporters. To me if that is the only goal I am surprised they are pushing this thug tactic.

It won’t bother them a bit, the ‘rats are immune to charges of hypocrisy. They don’t care about rules, as long as they win.

If only republican office holders & registered voters would understand the degree that liberals have for their ideology then maybe they would get in the trenches or shall I say faces & lives of these socialists/communist/anti-Americans & force them into the cesspools that they deserve

If the union can “convince” enough workers in a shop to sign a union card no vote will be required.

That's true, and the GOP used to be the party of merit, responsibility and integrity. Since the Republicans abandoned those principles, why should the Dems fear any backlash? They just lie as long as it is necessary. Remember pay-as-you-go? More bullshit they didn't believe in but the press gave them a pass on. The GOP has to get it's act together and exorcize the legacy of Duke Cunningham, Mark Foley, and the big spenders in their ranks.

What happens to Lieberman if he switches his (D) to an (R)?

What exactly do they want to do to Lieberman?

I was utterly astonished that the RNC or some 527 did not make an ad of an employee with a cigar-smoking boss leaning over his shoulder while he agonized over a "yes" or "no," followed by a voice-over: "Barack Obama: Proud enemy of the secret ballot."

Or tweak the ad with a name change for appropriate Senate candidates.

LOL!

They are all chickens, they don’t want Lieberman to know who voted him out. And I believe Joe Lieberman is more of a man than to care anything about it!

They will NOT F with him right now. They want the 60. If they make it tough for him I think he switches.

I, for one, am willing to guarantee that I will donate $1000.00 to Liby if he switches, who will follow here?

Let's get a tally.

My understanding is that instead of having employees take a secret ballot, it allows union organizers to go around “asking” employees if they want to organize. The employees under duress are then “asked” to fill out signature cards. When the union thugs get signature cards for over 50% of the employees they are allowed to “organize” the rest.

For one thing he'd fit right in with RINOS like McCain.

I think Lieberman's an authentic Jew. Why would he let Obama steamroll Israel?

I don’t think the Dems are wise to screw w/ Lieberman. 4 yrs from now, he’s going to be the closest thing they have to Nostrodamus. Hell, he could even run for Pres, and be taken seriously.

The secret ballot is to protect them from DailyKos maniacs who are screaming to have Lieberman expelled.
