As his Senate career nears its end, Republican Chuck Hagel isn't holding back when it comes to criticizing members of his own party including conservative talk radio hosts.
"We are educated by the great entertainers like Rush Limbaugh," Hagel said Tuesday during a speech in Washington, according to the Huffington Post.
"You know, I wish Rush Limbaugh and others like that would run for office," a sarcastic Hagel continued. "They have so much to contribute and so much leadership and they have an answer for everything. And they would be elected overwhelmingly. [The truth is] they try to rip everyone down and make fools of everybody but they don't have any answers."

I think Rush does at time have answers. The answer he has never come up with is how to convince enough other people to go along with those answers to make a difference on a consistant basis. That's the true key to leadership.
As Newt found out, it's easier being a back bencher than a leader.

Our fine “Republican” Hagel now joins the orchestrated Marxist assault on freedom of speech. He’ll probably sponsor the “Fairness Doctrine” bill that’s sure to arrive soon.
To: KentTrappedInLiberalSeattle
You are so correct Hagel. They (Rush and others like him) do have so much more to offer. Truth, common sense, intelligence, sound doctrine, concern for America and Americans and not for selfish interest like you. Sure glad to see you go. Should have happened long ago.

Sen. Hagel, Rush has thought about running for public office but he couldn’t take the pay cut. Also, since it’s easy for him to showcase products he approves of, he is beholden to no one.
Rush does not have all the answers, but he can explain the surface of the actions in Washington and in the mainstream media, and then he can delve deeper and explain what is REALLY going on under the superficial veneer. Sometimes it’s just refreshing to hear the truth.

The answer is simple. All the Republicans in Washington have to do is come home to their conservative roots. They're just too spineless to take the democrats on.

The Dem party is so far left now that the RINO’S have nowhere to go, unless they want to join the Communists on the left. Conservatives need to re-take the Republican party, if the RINO’S want to leave, let them. We’ll pick up more stay at home conservatives and common sense voters than the RINO’S can draw.

Hagel, Rush Limbaugh has done more to protect America’s freedoms and her way of life than you did in your entire Washington career.
‘Course, I’ve noticed, Chuckles, that you’ve never really made the case for your RINO philosophy to a national audience. Oh, you like to talk to your inside the Beltway pals about it...an echo chamber. But you don’t really bring that defeatist message to the masses, do ya, Chuck?

The idiot has it backwards. People like Rush actually have to have ideas and articulate them in the marketplace, in order to be successful and earn a living. The only thing pols are good at is sitting in committees deciding how to spend other people's money.

I am living in Nebraska and thought Hagel was a conservative republican when I voted for him. So much for what I know about what a conservative Republican should look like. Or maybe Chuckie changed his midwest stripes on us and decided to forget representing the folks and instead spent his last several years trying to cultivate a mavoric image by siding with, first McCain and when that didn’t get him enough power then he jumped over the aisle and joined the Rats and is not even a true RINO but is instead a deserter.
To: Lucius Cornelius Sulla
Mike Johanns...former mayor of Lincoln, former Governor, Ag Secy under W....much more conservative than Hagel...

While I have no love for Hagel, I have asked myself if Rush and Hannity carry so much weight, how come we nominated an unqualified Republican for President and elected an unqualified person for President and, how come we were able to elect the greatest President, Ronald Reagan, without the help of either Rush or Hannity?
