Obama's NSA and CIA Picks (Harsh On Israel, Sympathetic To Iran And Hezbollah)

Omri Ceren’s headline says it all: Obama’s Top NSA And CIA Picks: Harsh On Israel, Sympathetic To Iran And Hezbollah.

Well that was totally unpredictable wasn’t it?

General James L. Jones is widely rumored to be Obama’s preferred candidate to be White House National Security Adviser... Jones prepared a report on Israel’s policies in the territories... The World Tribune said it “blasted Israel’s role” for “hampering the movement of PA forces, blocking plans for weapons shipments and technology to the Palestinians and resisting coordination.” ... Obama said this about Jones: “Let me tell you who I associate with... If I’m interested in figuring out my foreign policy, I associate myself with my running mate, Joe Biden or with Dick Lugar...or General Jim Jones, the former supreme allied commander of NATO.”

Totally, totally unpredictable:

John Brennan... is rumored to be Obama’s pick to head the CIA. Brennan published a long article on Iran in July 2008... "... U.S. national security would be best served if Washington publicly acknowledged and explored the roots of this shift in Iranian state support for terrorist activities ... the new U.S. administration must be willing to exercise strategic patience....It would not be foolhardy, however, for the United States to tolerate, and even to encourage, greater assimilation of Hezbollah into Lebanon’s political system.

Totally expected. It’ll be REAL interesting if Israel votes right-wing next time around.

This stinks, but it’s hardly a surprise. We knew all along that “Osama” Obama would be the most anti-Israel, pro-Islamist, pro-Pali president in history, despite what the likes of J Street and the National Jewish ‘Rat Council and ‘Rat Congresscritter Robert Wexler were telling gullible Jewish voters during the campaign.

"Girlymen in the NSA and CIA. Great! Just what we needed."

Well, it's not like the spooks were supportive of Bush policy. Nothing really changes here, accept this only means the leaking stops - since the liberal leakers now have one of their own calling the shots.

The way NATO is going, being the supreme commander of a bunch of political eunuchs is nothing to brag about.

However, I do respect the NATO troops in Afghanistan despite restrictions imposed on their missions.

CIA: Why don’t we just get rid of those losers and create a new, proactive intelligence gathering and covert ops group that leaves out the Clinton-surrender rats?

General Jones is a Bush appointee. Obama is crossing the aisle. He may be wrong on policy, I've criticised him many times here, but to the extent he's political, he comes from the Republican side of the aisle.

My impressions he a leftist, but Brennan was a strong supporter of GWB's "torture" policies, which won him few fans on that side of the aisle.

The "gullible Jewish voters" got a torture supporter and a Bush official.

Which is why that line of reasoning, stupid Jewish voters, simply doesn't work.

VOTE??? Israel don't need no stinking VOTE -- there will be smoking holes where Iran's nuclear facilities were before 1/20/09. What odds do you think are available on that??

As a matter of fact, the CIA has already been working for the left, all through the Bush years. This certainly won’t improve matters, but it’s not much worse than the kinds of appointments Bush made in many areas. We could hardly expect Obama to do better than Bush.

Which is pretty sad.

Brennan helped Hussein by doing the spadework in the passport files through the deniable cutout of a contractor for The Analysis Corp.

The urging of a wider role for Hezbollah tracks with Hussein having his Malley keep Hamas on speed-dial (when they're not showering together)--

--and with Joe "My I.Q. Is Much Higher Than Yours" Biden's refusal to classify the IRGC as a terrorist organization (he hangs out with them at Home Depot).

I know that, and I've been highly critical of one of these two, but these aren't terrible, incompetant, hard left appointments. Not McCain's picks, probably. Jones is simply following orders in the West Bank, doing his job isn't a disqualifier, but Brennan is pro "torture", McCain wouldn't stand for that.

There'll be plenty of policy issues to disagree with, these appointments aren't worth it. At least they're competent for their jobs.

I think there probably are odds on it posted somewhere. Maybe 20 percent chance. Too many lefties running Israel these days.

BTW, I’d have described Brennan as a Bush appointee too, but I’m not sure how the chairman of the National Counterterrorism Center, created by GWB, gets his job. Might be Congress, might be bipartisan.
