LOS ANGELES – Hollywood insiders and climate change experts agree that they can't shove messages about global warming down audiences' throats.

They met at the Skirball Cultural Center on Tuesday to discuss how storytelling in film and TV can translate broad issues about climate change to everyday audiences.

"The storytelling has to trump everything," said "West Wing" actor Bradley Whitford.

"One thing we've learned is that apocalyptic stories don't work very well," ..

Very interesting considering the fact that it was filmmakers who led to the widely held false belief that lemmings leap to their deaths in the sea.

If one thinks about it, movie making must be very carbon producing activity. Private jets, buses, private vehicles, caterers, lots of electricity......

I think they should have to calculate their carbon footprint and buy offsets. Let's see if they will put their money where their mouth is.

Just think:

Once the planet goes into a cooling trend, and it already seems to be doing so, All of the references to "Global Warming" in TV series and Motion Pictures will date the production and will be laughed at as people stock up on heavier clothing and cool weather products in the warmer climes.

this is becoming obsurd, even if they know that hyped-up global warming can’t be shoved down the general public’s throats, then why fight fire with more fire and try to win? it’s them saying, my way or the highway. figure this, we’re not even in the new presidency yet, so probably come next year i’m sure i’m going to be so brainwashed i’ll have dreams about global warming every night. speaking of which, the whole green week thing on NBC, buncha cahooey!

How about a feature film that retells Three Little Pigs, with global warming alarmism thrown in?

Says the wolf, “Let me in to do a structural safety check, or someday a Global Warming-caused huricane will HUFF, AND PUFF, AND BLOW YOUR HOUSE DOWN?”

Boy, they sure could've fooled me on that considering they pushed out global warming propaganda flicks like Waterworld, The Day After Tomorrow and An Inconvenient Truth.

We don't have enough TV series evangelizing the liberal party line. Let's have even more...

As just one painful example, watching Law and Order episodes in recent years has become extremely annoying if you try to take it seriously - clearly their script-writers have never met a liberal cliche that they didn't embrace wholeheartedly - they work their leftist morality plays into every episode with all of the subtlety of a sledgehammer. The leftist orthodoxy that they try to shove down their viewers' throats in every episode is so over the top that it has metastisized into a self-parody par excellence.

Many attendees said the major studios have successfully gone green in recent years. They cited e-mailing scripts and call sheets instead of printing them on paper, employing reusable cups instead of plastic water bottles and using hybrid production vehicles for transportation on set instead of gas guzzlers.

Do these people even have a clue about how foolish their little green tokenism is? What about those gas guzzling planes that they fly on to Cannes, to Aspen, and everywhere else? What about the frightful damage to the ecosystem every time Michael Moore burps?

Nothing in the constitution gives the federal government a right to monitor carbon emissions or to have any say wahtever in citizens’ use of fossil fuels. It’s up to the states.

They cited e-mailing scripts and call sheets instead of printing them on paper,...[as a way to make the entertainment industry more green]"

The actor getting the script via e-mail still has to print it out. Studies have shown that computers cause more printing of information and more use of paper. What a bunch of morons.

Hollywood should make a big bunch of 'green' movies about global warming and other pending environmental disasters that no one will go to see. They can use their bailout money to make them.

I canceled my NetFlix subscription because I ran out of good movies to rent. Hollywood just can't seem to make a good movie them anymore. Chronicles of Narnia, Fireproof and American Carol were the last for awhile.

Whitford is politically liberal and has appeared several times on Real Time with Bill Maher espousing a liberal point of view. He once co-hosted The Majority Report on Air America Radio alongside Janeane Garofalo, and made an appearance in the “Al Franken Show Party Album”.

an outspoken environmental and political activist. Regarding our current president, Whitford says, “George W. Bush is the worst president we have ever had at the most dangerous time we have ever had, and you can quote me on that.”

Quiet Revolution is a powerful 22-minute documentary hosted by Emmy award-winner Bradley Whitford and features U.S. Senator Barack Obama. This short documentary describes how an increasingly influential movement on the far right has waged a sustained war on the Constitution as we know it, and exposes how ultra-conservative politicians, judges, professors and activists would overturn decades of precedent to shred the fabric of popular laws protecting workers, consumers and public health, expand executive power at the expense of basic civil liberties.

Here’s an “everyday story” for them:

Everyday I feed and check the ice (if any) on my critter’s water tanks. Sometimes it is none- sometimes a skim- sometimes as much as 3 inches. Some of that has to be removed so it doesn’t knit right back together again.

My paper-covered desk is proof of that. Thirty years ago it took a lot of time and effort to make a printed page. Now, it's just a mouse click.
