Paint does not dry at -12. However, watching ice cubes freeze at -12 is interesting. Even more interesting at -40, explosive action.

Closed down 427 or about -5%. Headline on CNBC says "GE drops 10%".

Having a laugh is good for us. Helps keep things in perspective sometimes. The big reason we have to bail out these bankers and such is the change in building codes. In 1929, they jumped out the windows - kind of “bailed out” on their own, so to speak - and now none of the windows on those building can open.

I wonder why Obama didn’t go to the economic summit in DC over the weekend? Maybe if he had gone, things would be better.

I live in Appalachia. I drove two hrs today in mtns and noticed several things: everything and everyone seems normal. I saw new cars on big truck going to dealer. I saw new bank being built. I saw four lane being built through several mtns. I saw restaurants full of people at lunch. I saw no panic. No one was talking about economy.

My question: when are we going to feel this pain that Wall St and others are feeling?

Please tell me: what is really going on?

I like Rush but he lied when he said he would no longer “carry the water for the Republican party”. He still is, clearly. He is doing a great job with the propaganda, trying to pin this recession and market collapse on Obama, but in the end he is completely preaching to the choir. Even the manipulated official government stats will show that the recession began in July, when we didn’t even know if Obama would be the Democrat nominee.

This collapse is completely market driven from massive debt at all levels for too many decades, much of it wasted on useless consumption. Once again, Rush is completely wrong and is “carrying the water for the Republicans”, even if he is still enjoying to listen too. Go Rush, but brainwashing people with lies will cause more harm than good in the long term.

There is and will be MORE than enough true damage attributable to the coming Communist Obama Administration.

when are we going to feel this pain that Wall St and others are feeling?

My 401(k) has lost nearly 50% of its value from the beginning of the year. I feel the pain every day I see the DOW going DOWn. I can only hope that the economy turns around and fast. As for the rest of the nation feeling the effects, all I can say is that around here at least three used car dealerships that have been around for at least a decade are now gone. A local furniture outlet is having a going out of business sale. Linens'n Things just had theirs. A consumer electronics chain store, Rex, just did , too. A new office building downtown that had cleared the lot for construction is now on hold. Another that is half finished doesn't seem to be getting any attention now. The usual hordes of "snowbirds" from Canada and the northern US that usually show up here for the winter aren't here. ........
