Huckabee envious of Sarah Palin? Maybe worried she'll de-rail his presidential prospects?

My guess is that the Republicans will be begging her to run in 2012 otherwise, the Conservatives will stay home more than they did for McCain

She has a capacity to be a rallying force to a degree unmatched since Reagan. She can beat Barack in 2012.

I suppose that Mike Huckabee proves you do not have to be a genius to be a Governor of a state. If he had intentions of running after 2010, Huckabee should have entered the fray anew pledging to not to criticize any Republican until at least the primaries. To indirectly criticize Sarah in 2008 is foolish. Sarah may not run in 2010-2012 or she may not be as popular in 2010. Mike, why didn’t you just wait for the universe to unfold. Even in the worst possible scenario that Sarah was still overwhelmingly popular in 2010 and most likely to win the nomination you would still probably have 2016 to run again and not waste your money on 2012. That’s the problem with a person with an oversize ego-religious or secular-it triumphs reason and leads one down the path of ruin.

Gee, wouldn’t a McCain-Huckabee ticket have been a killer! Just think of the dozens and even hundreds of people who would have attended the rallies.

Of course the odds the media will assign him to us (as they did this time with McCain) are very high.

“What John McCain did for her was to give her the capacity to sort of leapfrog over the process and get right to the center stage,” he said

Wow! Like that's never happened with a VP nominee before.

I'm not sure where you are getting your data, but I think you are confusing first choice with favorability ratings. My data on favorability ratings came from an internal survey before Super Tuesday when Fred and Mitt were both in the low 70's. Sarah Palin was not even on the radar screen at that time.

Both Fred and Mitt play better to the economic conservatives, but are respectful of the evangelical conservatives. Huck pisses on the former, but is respected by the later. Sarah Palin is loved by both factions and is, therefore, the best choice.

Let's face it: The presidential contest has become a dumbed-down version of American Idol. Sarah outshines any of the guys out there with the possible exception of Bobby Jindal. She would, however, be wise to put one of the older guys on the ticket for the maturity and experience factor. Either Fred or Mitt would be good for roughly the same reasons-- both are decent speakers and debaters and both have been out of Washington long enough (or never been their in Mitt's case) as to be seen as a clean break from the past.

Since Huck is the topic of the thread, I just don't see what he has to offer. Economic conservatives despise him (and the feeling is mutual). Evangelical conservatives simply don't support him in large enough numbers to win any region outside the southern base. He adds a little in area of experience, but nothing in the area of maturity.

Outdated data, in other words. Next slide, please. ;)

If Huckabee wants an audience, he needs to not slam the people in it.

Slamming Sarah = slamming those who view her as a bright light contrasting stratospherically with the dark reign of the demon of death, known to the electorate as Obama.

The next slide is that Fred and Mitt both bowed out graciously, backed McCain and campaigned for him, while Huck continued to pontificate, stayed in the race as the sole serious McCain alternative and managed to win a single caucus in Kansas after Super Tuesday.

Now, he has the audacity to bash his opponents and Sarah Palin who at least help keep the race competitive against all odds.

Huck needs to run for the senate in Arkansas, go back to preaching or selling snake oil. Not clutter up the presidential stage for 2012!

The biggest problem with American Christianity right now is we have too many Huckabees and not nearly enough Billy Sunday or Richard Wurmbrand types.

Congratulations! Best summary yet!
