Assuming they pay for two seats, I agree. The court says they should get 2 seats for the price of 1.

Last time I flew (and it is not often) I had a guy next to me so big his ass was half in my seat. I wish I could have had him pay for half my ticket. Atlanta to San Diego is a long flight in half of a tiny airline seat. I knew there was a problem when he asked for two seat belt extenders.
You take up two seats you pay for two seats.

They sold a passenger a trip on their plane. How ever they choose to dice up their seating is their business. They may want to charge passengers by their weight if they desire and allocate seating by the amount paid. But if they are charging a oassenger for a trip they should provide seating.

There actually ARE airlines which believe that all humans are under 5 tall and 135 lbs and order their aircraft constructed accordingly.I'm not a big guy, 5'10", 185 lb and the last time I flew it felt like spending two hours in an iron maiden. The fella sitting next to me seemed to be in a similar state of discomfort, and he was maybe 6'0" 210. You know, I'll pay more for some comfort and just fly less frequently.
Flying is now something I truly dread. I'd rather go to the Dr. or Dentist multiple times than endure a three hour flight.

“Well airlines are charging based on the weight of luggage, its only logical they should also charge each passenger per pound over a certain amount.”
But Wait!!!
If say I should weigh X amount for my height, but weigh -X, shouldn’t that be taken off the weight of my luggage?

They may want to charge passengers by their weight if they desire and allocate seating by the amount paid. But if they are charging a oassenger for a trip they should provide seating. The passenger knows the seat sizes when they buy a ticket. Why should the airline be forced to cut their fare/seat in half for a select group of people? Should a restaurant be forced to provide double the portions for the same price as a normal meal just because someone "requires" more food?

This is simply socialism by another name (welfare).
The physical laws of the universe dictate that a 400-pound person cannot be transported from point A to Point B at the same cost as a 150-pounder.
So who pays the difference in cost?
Other passengers, in the form of ticket prices.
I am amazed that the airlines haven't consider the obvious neutral option: price tickets by the pound, for the passenger and all accompanying baggage, including carryons.
Everybody wins.

You have to laugh. What else can you do? At least this isn't as bad as condemning children to be raised by two homosexuals or two lesbians.

I guess Canadian sumo wrestler conventions are going to hit their airlines pretty hard.

One obese lady was somewhat obnoxious to the flight attendant. The flight attendant invited the person sitting next to her to move to first class! I love quick-thinking Solomon types!
