CHICAGO (Reuters) U.S. President-elect Barack Obama is leaning toward selecting retired Gen. James Jones as White House national security adviser, ABC News reported on Thursday.
Jones is among several candidates under consideration for the job, which coordinates foreign policy throughout the administration.
James Steinberg, who was deputy national security adviser in Bill Clinton's administration, is also a candidate for the job.
The ABC report said Jones had emerged as the leading candidate for Obama, who is said to value his advice and likes the idea of hiring someone for the job with more than four decades of active military experience.
ABC also said that retired Adm. Dennis Blair was the top candidate to be the director of national intelligence.

LOL Oh boy. Grape Kool aid for all.
It comes full circle...
Just a few days ago I was comparing Hussein to Jim Jones. Now Hussein appoints him to a cabinet position.
There’s bound to be trouble when Jones starts calling us out for the White nights.

They have a lot in common, they were/are both Marxists community leaders, who pretended to be Christians and started cults of personality dedicated to their own worship.
(FYI: For those of you not up on Nicaraguan history, there is a good reason why the Nicas laughed their a-ses off when they heard that "William Walker" was being sent by the Americans: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Walker_(soldier))
Why isn’t Obama hiring that Suck Up Pro, Gen Wesley Clark.
Ole Wes, just can’t seem to get a break
OMG, lol. I thought this was satire when I read the title.
It was Flavor-Aid, you philistine
A quick scan of his bio reveals nothing too alarming. With Obama, I would have expected Calypso Louie as the NSA. At least he picked someone credible. Does anyone know anything about this man which makes him unacceptable?
I had to do a double take.
LAO (Life After Obama)
I'll panic when we have national Kool-Aid drinking day.
Seriously no, I don’t see anything alarming about the guy but I do wonder what takes him to the top of the list. After all, Weasley Clark looks good on paper.

I believe he opposed the surge.
But IMO he’s about as good as you can get with Obama. He’s certainly preferable to Clark or McPeak, or someone like Samantha Power.
Considering the fact that the white nights were nothing more than suicide drills, panic would be a good thing.
I thought he died at Jonestown.
Looking into William Walker sent me into reading up on John Norvell the namesake of the town I live in.
You might find the correspondence between Norvell and Thomas Jefferson about newspapers kind of interesting.
Too funny, kind of...I was wondering what flavor this Kool Aid is.
Well, can you blame The One? How can he pass up the opportunity to have the messianic, marxist kool-aide drinking Jim Jones be a part of his historic administration? It’s so, like, karmic.
Senator, if you’re in a Cabinet meeting, and the General yells, “Come to me, my babies! Let me quell your pain!”...be very afraid.
Wesley Clark is being saved the SecDEF position by Obama.
“Bummer of a birthmark, Hal.”
