This is a canard. He’s backing down on the smaller issues to look moderate. It will not change his attitude toward his march to marxism.

Why doesn’t he do this on his second day in office, like Bill Clinton tried to do? If one is liberal, and sees this as a civil rights issue, then there can be no debate, right?
And when don’t ask/don’t tell is abolished, will the city of S.F. welcome the military back? Will the marines open a recruiting office in The Castro and be welcomed there?? Since gays have targeted the military about don’t ask/don’t tell, will there be big numbers eager to join when that ban ends?
I agree, he hasn’t changed his views. It will be interesting to see how the loony left reacts to some of this “moderation” though...

Right now I am sorry I didn’t follow the One’s campaign. Maybe somebody that did could present a list of his campaign promises.
He had to run to the left to win the nomination and he had to run to the center-right to win the presidency. He has been willing to say anything to anyone to get elected. I think that people know about as much about his views as they do about his background......nothing.

I had to laugh the day after the election. The local lib paper had a headline that read: "Obama: Don't Get Your Hopes Up".
The point was that he had a lot of work to do but oh, the irony.

0bama has only one issue - ‘12. He is perfectly willing to let the market tank until his SOTU address. Then he will announce that he is not going to raise taxes, but will proceed with his middle class tax cuts (handouts).
If the market sees that his admin will not be a total Marxist take-over, it will start to comeback-and he will get credit simply for not jumping off the cliff.
He will also announce that there is an agreement to leave Iraq and thus pick up a cheap save like a relief pitcher who throws the ninth inning in a blow out.
Finally he hooks up the union goons with card check and auto-bailout.
Spends the next three and half years shooting hoops and destoying evidence of his birth.
