I don’t think citizens of countries that are permanent members of the security council are eligible for UN General Secretary. But the rules never applied to the Clintons anyway.

She has always been very vocal on supporting the war against terrorism.

Ask General Petraeus what he thinks

She would have had far more power in the Senate. Now, she’s doing Obama’s bidding.

Not so fast there, State is already stuffed with clinton zombies from eight years ago. And the clinton people already calling the shots with the staff make me suspect the reverse. At least thats how it looks like it's shaking out.

That’s going to leave a mark. But, hey, who’s keeping track anyway? It’s a new day.

I’m from Arizona and am proud to say IF/WHEN Janet Napolitano accepts the Director for Homeland Security slot, our Secretary of State, Jan Brewer, will be Governor—she’s REPUBLICAN!!!!

OK, I figured this was a bad move for Hillary because Obama was sure to be tested and he could easily point to a failure of diplomacy and that would be Hillary's portfolio. But after further review, I see that she is COUNTING on Obama getting tested.

[Start Bill Clinton voice] "Honey, you just know that boy is going to be tested early on in his term, and you will have only been SecState for a short while. But that will be the opportunity you have been waiting for. Remember after 9-11 we were so sad that it didn't happen on our watch? Well, this is our chance at redemption! You can commandeer Air Force One and do that shuttle diplomacy thing. You have Israel to trade as a bargaining chip. Look, you and I both know that with Israel gone, the Middle East will be calm for about 5 years before they're at each other's throats again. By that time you will be in the White House on the strength of your diplomatic victory." [stop, for God's sake, the Bill Clinton voice]

I don’t get it. It seems really stupid on her part as well as obambi’s.

IT could have been much worse! We all know Obama was not going to appoint a republican to the post. I see her as the lesser of MANY evils!

I thought that was an “informal” rule....kinda like the one that the SecGen must speak fluent English AND French!

Strategically bad move for her.

Maybe, but at least she's not on the list for SCOTUS.

Besides, much as it pains me to say it, she's not the worst choice by far. Could you imagine Kerry or Pelosi as SOS?

I think she was really looking forward to those 3 am phone calls. Obama promised that he would put his phone on call forwarding to her after midnight.

America is so fortunate to have as SOS, HRH Hillary Rodham Clinton!

She is a stateswoman of gigantic proportions.

Huma is happy too.

This is known as “pre-emptive” strike. Obama made sure Hillary won’t run against him in 2012. What next? Bobby Jindal as Secretary of Minority Development? ..LOL

Then she can appoint real conservative to take McCain’s seat when zero appoints him to something.

LOL. You knew she would end up somewhere. I can't imagine she'll be that much worse than Rice, frankly.

I'd hate to be an unborn baby in a 3rd world country over the next 4 years, though.

I don’t see this as a bad move for “us”. God forbid it could have been Kerry. She has always been very vocal on supporting the war against terrorism. At one point she stated, if Iran attacks Israel they would be obliterated. She will be okay in this job I think.

The best thing about Hillary as SoS is that she will have no official link to domestic policy.

Why 8 years?

The $600M in campaign contributions will not be subject to any audit. It can be assumed that a part of it was foreign, a part of it was from the unions, most of it from bundles, and some was ported to scumbag outfits like ACORN and others to fix elections and voter registrations.

There will be NO members of the media that will do any investigative reporting close to a "Watergate" expose', the media is both silent and deaf on the status of Barry's citizenship (not just the COLB), silent and deaf as to Barry's college years, silent and deaf regarding Barry's Illinois Senate run, and silent and deaf regarding Larry Sinclair (the plain facts on public record, not the scummy rumors).

Thusfar, he has successfully silenced the courts on his birth records - and may even silence the SCOTUS.

This administration will make Travelgate and Filegate look like tiddly-winks. Rahm Emanuel will be a much better gate-keeper than any previous COS in history - he plays dirty and for keeps.

Yes, EIGHT years.

In this election season, nothing is the way it seems. Think of the motives of the people wo got BO elected, then it might start to make sense. Who benefits from this decision? I don't think BO has much to say one way or the other.
