New Senate to get major global warming bill
AFP ^ | Nov. 21, 2008 | AFP

Posted on 11/21/2008 10:33:25 PM PST by FocusNexus

The US Senate will take up two sweeping global warming bills in January, in the latest sign that Barack Obama's election could quickly reverse years of US footdragging on climate change.

Boxer, chairwoman of the Senate Environment and Public Works committee, said one bill would combat harmful gas emissions by providing 15 billion dollars a year to spur clean energy innovation and the development of advanced biofuels.

The other piece of legislation will direct the US Environmental Protection Agency to set up a cap-and-trade system to stem greenhouse gas emissions.

Just what we need in an economic crisis... not to mention that there is mounting evidence that there is no global warming, or if there it is not caused by human activities, but any excuse is good enough for Democrats to finish destroying the US and its economy.

Global warming ping

“Obama has called for annual targets that would aim to reduce emission levels to 1990 levels by 2020 and then by an addition 80 percent by 2050.”

The Obama and Dem plan should be named “How to finish killing the US economy”

then by an addition 80 percent by 2050.

They won't be able to achieve those goals without emitting other gasses.... like Zyklon B.

That kind of reduction can only be achieved with a massively smaller population living without heat, transportation or technology.

I thought virtually every country has failed to meet their targets so far.

This is absolute madness to be even considering something like this especially during an economic downturn.

Precisely the case that someone should be making, but nobody has the ability or the balls to make on the national stage. For once, it's actually true: this is a tax that hits the poorest people the hardest.

In the meantime, global warming, if there is such a thing, would allow us access to much more energy, but the enviro-idiots wants us to go back to the stone ages instead.

Global warming could lead to more Arctic energy

Global Warming Predictions Are Overestimated, Suggests Study On Black Carbon

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/11/081119120155.htm

A detailed analysis of black carbon — the residue of burned organic matter — in computer climate models suggests that those models may be overestimating global warming predictions.

“That would result in a final amount equaling 16% of the original, or 84% total reduction.”

So where will that leave the economy — especially since the Dems refuse to use nuclear energy to provide energy without CO2 emission. Their real goal is to reduce the US to a third world country.

We had better hope for an extreme cooling period like the Younger Dryas (around 10,000BC; the Earth’s mean temp dropped up to 30 degrees in as little as a year).

Not that it would convince any of those morons that there is no global warming, but there’s some hope they’d freeze to death and Washington DC would be under a mile of ice.

Obama is already screwed. The nation is broke. There are no oil com[any profits, for him to steal now that oil prices are tumbling to the break even point.

There is no money for all his promises, health care, free tuition.

He WILL achieve tax cuts however. Only because more "middle class will loose their jobs, hence pay less taxes, others will see wage roll backs, reduced hours of work, and paying less taxes, and businesses will be on the verge of bankruptcy, paying less taxes.

There is nowhere for Obama to steal money from. Anything these clowns do will have a profound negative effect on the economy.

We are in for a rough turbulant ride, better be ready and hang on.

That's why wall street is very nervous, and gold is going up, the dollar down. Soon as those presses start, it's going to torpedo down.

I ask my fellow lurkers and Freepers to support the bottled water industry and sign the petition at bottledwatermatters.com

Freep this Petition! I just heard the House of Representative banned bottled water in PET bottles in their cafeteria. Unreal! PET is totally safe and bottle water is a healthy high quality alternative beverage to sugar beverages. Hello any beverage in a plastic bottle and all kinds of food products are packaged in PET.

Bottled Water has been unfairly targeted. One of the few home grown business that can’t be farmed out to the Chinese. The government might as well crush tens of thousands of American jobs so the left can buy filters to do a substandard job of cleaning up what they insist is great quality tap water. Hundred year old pipes help to make it that way!

And also let’s not forget save the planet which is BS. Truth is municipal water systems and many private water systems are heavily Unionized big surprise.

The plan here too is to ban anything made from carbon based product such as bottles. Even reusable bottles that make over fifty trips before being recycled are being targeted.

Guess what product gets to every natural disaster first? You got it! Bottled water! Katrina had no drinking water for weeks the area survived on bottled water and a large chunk of it was donated by the industry itself.

These company’s are comprised of hard working American’s providing a safe, necessary beverage that people really want. It is heart breaking what the government will do to US business in the name of Climate Change (Hoax of the century)

Bottled Water is the shot across the bow wait until the next great enviro scam comes out “THE WATER FOOTPRINT” Wait until you all find out how much water it takes to raise beef and meat, make beer and soda, water golf courses, The vegans are behind this move as well.

Dairy and Meat are in the cross hairs. Hell with the jobs and what Americans want to eat Pelosi is making up the menu right now and it ain’t gonna be pretty or tasty!
Please help and stop them here!

You are an optimist.

They are more likely to take over the power plants, staff them with workers from the recipient class and order them to provide a maximum of 6 hrs a day of power.

Comparing nothing to something, people will be thankful for the pittance. Congress will attempt to trumpet how they saved everyone, however, with minimum power, most folks will not be able to watch TV. So, in their infinite wisdom, they will subsidize one channel radios for all, carrying only Congressional propaganda.

I wish I was being sarcastic.
