German boar hunters are reporting one of their best seasons since World War II as moderate weather and plentiful food have led to a wild pig population boom.
The German Hunters' Association said Wednesday between April 2007 and March 2008 hunters killed 477,500 wild boar - 66 percent more than the previous year.

Years ago I went a wild meat roast held by a couple friends of my parents. Among other things, they had a whole wild boar roasted on the spit.
To this day, I have never had any pork that was as tender and tasty as that sucker was.
The stewed bear was pretty good too. ;)

Oh yeah...when I was in the Army in Germany back under Ronaldus Magnus, I was invited to spend Christmas Eve with a German family. They fed me dinner, which consisted of boar stew. It was downright tasty! I’d never had boar before.
It turns out the dad of the family was a forest manager and he had taken down the boar himself.
