On April 7, 1964, a 26-year-old detective in the New Orleans Police Department skipped up the steps into the Old Civil Courts building in New Orleans and presented himself to the Warren Commission investigating the assassination of President Kennedy.
Id always known my father had been acquainted with Oswald. They had not only grown up half a block away from each other, but had shared homerooms at school. Sitting alphabetically, my old man Fred sat in front of Oswald for years. OSullivan next to Oswald.
Sifting through my Dads papers I came upon a letter from Jacqueline Kennedy thanking my father for appearing before the commission. It wasnt something he spoke of often just a tidbit of information in a life that went on to greater adventures. ...

Read Bugliosi’s book about the assassination (”Reclaiming History). Oswald was one strange individual.
But just before he passed away, I summoned up the courage to ask him: Who killed JFK? As if he personally held the secret to the Holy Grail of Americas most puzzling enigma.
Just Lee, he said. By himself.
___________
Yup, there is just as much evidence against Oswald as there is O.J. Simpson, many people just choose to ignore it.
The crime of the century has been solved 100 times over, there is no mystery.
bttt
Hmmmmm!
Well said.
“Read Bugliosis book...”
Meant to say, “I read Bugliosi’s book...”
>> Just Lee, he said. By himself.
Of course. No “conspirator” with half a brain would add a guy like Oswald to the operation, even as a patsy. Plots need to be carried out by regular, predictable people.
A senior CIA official while slightly inebriated one night made the following statement while looking off in the distance: I wonder how the American people would take it if they knew one president had another president killed. One knew to just listen and not ask any questions..but there was only one president killed in modern times..and only two possible presidents who could have had a reason..either Nixon or LBJ. I would bet on LBJ, it was the only way he would ever have made it to the oval office. The first name of the man who made the statement was Noel I hope he tells the rest of the story while he is still alive. The American people deserve to know.
Great point, Oswald was a deluded fame seeker as evidenced by his debate appearance defending Marxist-Leninism, he was a loose cannon and one of the LAST people anyone could trust to be part of a conspiracy.
Maybe Oswald shot Kennedy by himself but how did he know the route of the president’s motorcade the day before? He took his rifle to work that morning. I think he shot JFK but I think he had inside information from people who had much to gain from JFK’s death.
in agreement.
After watching Stone's movie JFK, I was hung up on the magic bullet theory. It wasn't until I heard Bugliosi describe Kennedy and Connally's seating arrangment (Connally on a jump seat a few inches left and lower than Kennedy's seat) that I saw that the shot which hit both was nearly a straight line.
LBJ did seem happy when taking the oath of office on Air Force One.
If I remember correctly the route was previously posted in the local newspaper.
The motorcade route was printed in the paper, you know it was a public event, like a parade with people lining the route to wave and take pictures, not some last second secret. Millions had the “inside” information to know where the President would be that day.
I’ve always felt that the reason for all the suppression that opened up so many conspiracy theories had more to do with the “how,” rather than the who. As Oswald had access to the CIA for a time, I wonder if he used a prototype semi-automatic and the bolt action was planted to cover up the Agency’s mistake.
Does that book discuss his Russian language studies funded by the U.S. military?
Didn’t the final shot that killed Kennedy enter from the front?
The route was announced a few days beforehand.
Dallas Morning News November 19, 1963
Dallas Times-Herald November 19, 1963
All included the jog onto Elm right past the Schoolbook Depository.
I found this info on http://mcadams.posc.mu.edu/route.htm
Well, somebody’s gotta ask:
:)
So, if the first shot by Oswald was from the right rear, how is it Jackie Kennedy crawls over the back seat to the rear of the trunk to retrieve Kennedy’s brains which had fallen to the rear of the limo?
Watching the film the first shot seems to come from the fight front, not from the right rear. From the right rear, the scalp piece should have gone into the front seat. But it doesn’t. And Jackie goes immediately over the back seat to grab the disconnected part of Jack’s head. Gruesome, to be sure, but that’s what happens.
The limo didn’t speed up that fast initially or she would have been thrown over the trunk onto the road. And then the second (?) shot goes through Kennedy’s neck.
(don’t know if that was actually the first shot, BTW).
I thought it was interesting in the June speech from Muammur Khadafi he mentions Obama is a muslim.....then launches into JFK, assassination and the Israelis..... ;)

I always preferred Seinfeld’s one magic lugi theory.
LBJ govt incredibly richer off the Vietnam War. He was a major shareholder in Brown & Root construction which build many bases in SE Asia. Many defense contractors were also in TX. He probably made out alright from the space program too.
Brown & Root became KBR which was spun off from Halliburton.
Nixon? He was almost broke when he was forced out of office.
Joe Pesci’s over the top David Ferrie in the movie was good. JFK did have a great cast. John Candy as the creepy attorney amd Gary Oldman as Oswald.
No.
All the answers are available if you’re willing to read, it’s not very complicated what happened, we have the rifle, we have the killer, we know where he shot from.
Most all the performances in JFK were classic, I LOVE that movie, if viewed as a paranoid black comedy farce it’s one of the greatest movies ever.
Oswald did it, OK? Jeeze. Lots of people wanted Kennedy dead, but Oswald did it.
Some very good performances. I was watching it for a while the other night on cable. JFK is a saint, Texans are gun nuts, military is evil, Kevin Bacon as a gay jail bird foaming at the mouth anti-communist - the standard left wing Oliver Stone agenda.
Pesci going nuts as David Ferrie was great. Bill Murray’s brother as Jack Ruby. Gary Oldman is great but I do not get him mumbling as Oswald but I do not think I have ever heard Oswald speak.

Wait...a third possibility! George W. Bush! That’s it, Bush is to blame! Where was he in November 1963?
Motorcade routes were routinely published back then. As a young kid I remember people lining the streets along the way.
If the route hadn’t been published we wouldn’t have the Zapruder film.
Thanks. Yeah LBJ left office as the wealthiest President with the exception of maybe Geo Washington. Washington inflation adjusted was supposedly a billionaire.
What is weird is after he left office the family almost disappeared off the radar.
I believe Oswald shot Kennedy. I don’t believe that alone means that there weren’t other assassins or a conspiracy to kill him. Did they exist? I don’t know, but just assuming Oswald was guilty doesn’t completely invalidate the idea that other assassins were present and may or may not have acted.
Pesci was incredible, Tommy Lee Jones was great too, Candy is great, Gary Oldman is one of my favorite actors and Coppala’s Dracula is one of my favorite movies.
I believe I read that the newspapers ran the route in their papers the day before so folks could turn out.

Great because you did it!

How can we get in touch with him?
Bugliosi is a strange individual too. He concocted an elaborate conspiracy theory about Charles Manson and the Beatles to pin a “murder” charge on Charlie who did not commit the murders himself.
Bugliosi has also concocted a new conspiracy theory to charge President Bush with murder.
Bugliosi is a strange individual.
Gary Oldman in the Professional (aka Leon) or Romeo is Bleeding. so many good ones with Oldman.
I was suprised how restrained Tommy Lee Jones was because he usually is yelling. I do not like Oliver Stone but the cast saved him on JFK. Vincent D’fornio from the TV cop show early on as a witness in Dallas. Saw that the other night.
Stone is a jerk but he also wrote the screenplay for Scarface another great over the top black comedy/cartoon.
Joe Pesci plays great psychopaths. Saw him on the Golf Channel. He is a nice old guy now and golf nut.
The one thing (of many) that sticks in my craw was how did Oswald get off three shots in the alloted time - at a moving target - with THAT rifle. The Carcano, as I recall, was notorious for jamming/not locking.
Why would Oswald put his faith in the Carcano, when he was trained on the infinitely better M-1 Garand? Even FBI agents could not make that shot on the first try with the Carcano! And they were much better shots than Oswald.
I'm pretty certain the motorcade route was published in the paper the day before.
Did you ever think to yourself how the thousands of other witnesses to JFK’s murder in Dealey Plaza knew the route of the motorcade before you hit the ‘post’ button?
There were two shooters. It’s the only logical conclusion. It is said two motorcycle officers to the left rear of the limo were splattered with blood and brains (I’d have to check to confirm that).
It was not apparently the first shot as I said earlier; that is a mistake.
The first shot appears to be a miss which Connolly (sp) reacts to.
The second, from the Jennings video above (animation) pierce’s Kennedy’s back and exits below the right nipple.
The third pierces Kennedy’s neck, causing him to raise his arms up awkwardly and continues on into John Connolly.
Then Kennedy is hit with a final shot, which had to come from the right front because the brain matter is sent to the left-rear. Jackie is able to turn around, crawl slightly onto the trunk, retrieve the brains and then turn around and sit back down in her seat, where she proceeds to show the brains and remark to Mrs. Connolly.
I don’t know that there is a “conspiracy”, though I have my personal thoughts. However, two shooters, one of which is apparently Oswald from the Repository, is quite reasonable and supported by the film evidence.
causing him to fall backwards and accidentally fire his weapon”
Wow.
That’d be a pretty big $%*$& up.
They might on occasion still do that today, but you'll notice the pres is behind several inches of ballistic glass and armor, and the limo drivers don't dally, and SS snipers will be lining the route scanning windows and other places.
Lessons learned.
