Alan Colmes leaving “Hannity & Colmes”
Hot Air ^ | November 24, 2008 | ALLAHPUNDIT

Posted on 11/24/2008 12:08:28 PM PST by RobinMasters

Broken by Radio Equalizer, confirmed by Fox News.

In announcing his decision, Colmes said, “I approached Bill Shine (FNC’s Senior Vice President of Programming) earlier this year about wanting to move on after 12 years to develop new and challenging ways to contribute to the growth of the network. Although it’s bittersweet to leave one of the longest marriages on cable news, I’m proud that both Sean (Hannity) and I remained unharmed after sitting side by side, night after night for so many years.”

Colmes will continue to have a presence on FNC as he will serve as a liberal commentator on a variety of FOX News programming, including Foxnews.com’s The Strategy Room and continue hosting his radio program, The Alan Colmes Show on FOX Talk, a division of FOX News Radio. He will also begin developing a weekend program…

Hannity added, “Not only has Alan been a remarkable co-host, he’s been a great friend which is rare in this industry. I’ll genuinely miss sparring with such a skillful debate partner.”

I’m with MM - Hannity and Carville would be a riot!

It is common for one of us to use the mute button every time Colmes or any of his Democrat friends start talking.

Don’t let the door hit you on the way out. This could be the result of a major re-tooling of the show following the new multi million dollar Hannity contract. I can’t believe that he ever brought enough to the show to merit his staying. As of late, he seems genuinely annoyed with Sean and the barbs thrown at him by Coulter, Gingrich etc.

If "Skullface" is to become a "liberal" voice on OTHER Fox News shows it will be harder to watch the network without risking seeing/hearing him.

Wayne, I gave it up when Britt Hume's Special Report appeared in the tank for Obama at the last debate. My wife (who's far more tolerant than I) noticed it too, and has far less viewing time in since then as a result. I haven't watched since the election was over. And before that it was sparingly. I get my news here.

Dick Morris took Colmes to task during the campaign, but it appeared to me that Colmes had problems when having to defend abortion, which came up frequently during the campaign. Not that I think he has a problem per se with abortion in general, but it seemed to me that the use of terms like "the killing of babies" or "infanticide" troubled him. That's when he really seemed to show emotion beyond the usual mask. He didn't like being reminded of the truth behind the issue.

I wonder if he’s physicall ill. He doesn’t look too healthy.

The way it's come out, it doesn't sound like that, but who knows? He's been beaten up on a number of issues lately, and I suspect he's looking for a "safer" environment. By that I mean where he has more control over the content and guests. But, that's just my opinion.

He’s been backtalking and uppity since Nov. 4, wincing his scrincey face into laughs.

You'd think he'd be all smiles and giddy. His community organizer took the throne.

People are acting weird lately. Not happy weird. It's more like confused or "irritated" weird. They all act like ate something bad.

The FULL quote is:

I'm pretty sure he was making a joke.

Who’s going to replace him? Bob Beckel or Kristen Powers?

James Carville? Juan Williams? Mort Kondracke? Susan Estrich? Nina Easton?

Powers would be the easiest on the eyes but the greenest potential co-host.

Who’s going to replace him? Bob Beckel or Kristen Powers? I’m hoping the latter.

I immediately thought of Kirstin Powers. I think she started on O'Reilly and improved drastically over a short time. She doesn't really annoy me.
