Who did Romney help get elected? (Hoekstra, Risch, Bachmann, Olson and 38 others)

Who did Romney helped get elected?

Mitt Romney worked with his Free and Strong America PAC to help the GOP win in key races. Unfortunately the $20 million Romney raised for the ticket didn’t put McCain/Palin over the top. However, he did help hold back the tide of sweeping socialism this election cycle personally funding and campaigning for more wins than losses in a tough year. In the primaries he was unafraid to hit Obama (and Hilary) and communicate to the American people the key problems with their policies. Looking down the list of GOP winners here and what they are known for gives hope for conservatism. We have a deep bench of highly qualified individuals who won on the ground this go around.

As a side note the brightest spot in this election cycle is that even in the liberal bastion of Commufornia voters rejected gay marriage. As one of the earliest and most vocal supporters of a Federal Marriage Amendment Romney has been on message during the entire process in support of the voice of the American people on this matter.

Romney is still working on the Coleman and Chambliss battle. He is continuing to campaign and donate for Chambliss and is donating to Coleman’s Legal Defense fund to keep the recount honest.

A few of my favorites are two I met in Iowa during the primaries

Rep. Pete Hoekstra - MI- (Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, former Fortune 500 business executive)

Sen. Jim Risch - Idaho’s 31st Governor holding onto a key Senate seat

Reading over the list I have come to know many good conservatives who represent the best of America.

Rep. Michele Bachmann - MN - 98% from Club for Growth, a perfect score from the American Conservative Union, and an NTU Taxpayers' Friend Award in her first year in Congress)

Rep. Pete Olson– TX- decorated Naval Aviator, Chief of Staff for Senator John Cornyn

Here is Romney’s Free and Strong America PAC with pics and information about the candidates as well as the ongoing fight for the last two races on the homepage.

Here are the from election results from Wikipedia. United States Senate elections, 2008 and United States House of Representatives elections, 2008 - complete list

Uh, Pete Hoekstra would have won if he was found in bed with Larry Craig. He is from the most conservative part of West Michigan and has had no problems bring re-elected to his office. Of course, I’m sure it helped that Pete endorsed Mitt. Nonetheless...

Mitt Romney is putting his money and time where your mouth is.

Take some time and look down the list. Some of the best conservatives like Rep. Michele Bachmann thank Mitt for help holding back the Obama/Socialist tide in the House and Senate.

If Romney wants to work behind the scenes helping *conservatives*, let him do that. But by blowing his own horn on this, he just looks like he's collecting chits to be called in later.

Yes, he did pitch in and help with funding these races, which is to his credit. But he also helped to screw up the primary contests and enabled McCain to win. In particular, he helped shut out the only conservative candidates, Thompson and Hunter.

I think that Thompson might have had a chance at winning, if he had run. He is VERY effective on TV, unlike the hapless McCain.

Romney had the lead throughout much of the primary campaign, and hogged almost all the media attention until Huckabee jumped in and grabbed a share of it. That enabled the media to ignore Fred.

But in spite of his money and media advantages, Romney never managed to get his numbers up to winning levels, in spite of hogging most of the attention. That, as well as problems with his political record, is why he must not be considered for another run. McCain got a second shot as his consolation prize, and look what came of that.

Yes and no. If the economy goes down the toilet I expect to see Romney in 2012. But I don't really want the economy to go down the toilet. Of course if it doesn't go down the toilet chances are Obambi might win re-eleaction. I hope to see Palin in 2012 as well as she is a fiscal conservative.

This go around I spent plenty of time Bashing Huck. But today I have to admit that I'd give just about anything to have even a Pres. Elect Huckabee taking over this January in place of a Pres. Elect Obama (or even Pres. Paul or Pres. Keyes). Lets just say I learneed my lesson about bashing in the primaries while the Communists march into the White House.

The candidacy shouldn’t be a consolation prize. Romney doesn’t deserve it in the first place, but aside from that, it never works. Giving the candidacy to Dole and McCain, regardless of their years of service, was completely idiotic. We don’t need to do this again. But they were both possessed by an old man’s vanity, and a weak leadership let them go ahead with it.

I nominate Willard to take the fall in ‘12. The msm has so much invested in 0bama, they will give him credit for everything and continue to blame W for everything. All 0bama has to do in foreign policy is make some progress in Afgan. and start taking troops out of Iraq pursuant to an agreemen and he will be proclaimed was the greatest war president since Lincon. If unemployment remains at the current level in ‘12 and the DJA is in the 10 range, he will be proclaimed as an economic genius.

Until Sarah in ‘16, we need to concentrate on state house, gubernatorial and congressional races.

Huckabee never stood a chance of winning. The media gave him a lot of free publicity because they hoped he WOULD win. Then they would have turned on him and ridiculed him. He would have been a much weaker candidate than McCain.

We also gave Reagan and HW Bush a second shot, and look how the 80’ and 88’ elections turned out. Ot sll depends on the quality of the candidate. Fact of the matter is Romney woild have won the FL primary, and very likely would have went on to win the 08’ nomination if it were not for the open primaries. Many Democrats crossed over to vote McCain because they knew he would be the weakest GOP candidate.

Are you NUTS... the GOP in Mass was dead before he was governor. Mass, like RI, has a Republican Party that is based in the small towns. (In Connecticut, the GOP is in the small towns but in some small cities, too). In New England the state that will rebuild the GOP will be New Hampshire, Maine and Connecticut - if the GOP - wants a Fiscal Conservative/Social LIBERTARIAN in the GOP.

The GOP may have done so, but that apparently didnt prevent Romney’s PAC from helping her directly itself.

I’m not all that pro-Mitt. He was ahead of McCain or Rudy on my list,(but behind some others), but if he’s helping elect people more conservative than he is, I think I can forgive that ;).

I’d rather see Palin,Jindal, or a player-to-be-named later running in ‘12,though.

I hope to see Palin in 2012 as well as she is a fiscal conservative.

Given her spending record as governor and mayor, that's a pretty tough case to make.

Before you jump on the Sarah Palin bandwagon, step back and ask yourself why you like her. I submit to you that when evaluated calmly and objectively, there really isn't all that much there for a conservative to like.

What I find interesting are those that make the argument the MSM is for Romney.

He was in first place in the primaries for a month and they never even mentioned it. The DNC and the MSM have been the source of daily hit pieces on Romney since his days as Governor. Hugh Hewwit details the DNC hits back in 2004 in his book. SC went to liberals McCain and Huck over THompson and Romney. That same day Romney won more delgates in NV than in SC. The conservative vote time and again went to Romney in the actual vote results. He got 74.9% support here on FR the day before Super Tuesday. Sure it was after Fred and Duncan had dropped out but IMO, a bronze medal finish on FR is something to be bragged about.

He is from the most conservative part of West Michigan and has had no problems bring re-elected to his office.

Yeah, Ottawa County isn't exactly a swing area. I would be more impressed if Mitt had helped Walberg win in district 7.

OTOH, Mitt's support was definitely helpful in the Pete Olson race (that was for Delay's old seat). The big Soros money was behind the incumbent and they came closer than many thought. In the end, Olson won by about 7 points. That seat shold stay republican for a long time and Olson is pretty conservative. Also, kudos to Mitt for helping Michelle Bachman--she is terrific!

Mitt isn't my favorite, but he does have positives. These positives should be put to use by the party. He's something of a "Johnnie-come-lately" conservative, but he's pulling our way on a lot of issues. On whether Mitt should run again, let him make his case and show where he stands over the next four years.

Their are in areas that elected McCain/Palin...

and they are GOP heroes...

I will gain GOP favor by condemning the attack and
ordering it opposed from our lands in the south.
Whichever way the tide runs, we will rise.

Exactly what you say.

“The Massachusetts Republican Party died last Tuesday.
The cause of death: failed leadership.
The party is survived by a few leftover legislators
and a handful of county officials and grassroots activists
who have been ignored for years.
Services will be public and a mass exodus of taxpayers will follow.
In lieu of flowers, send messages to New Hampshire Republican voters
warning them about a certain presidential candidate named Romney.”

- Boston Herald, 11/12/2006

"In 2006, while Romney was chairman of the National Republican
Governors Association - a group dedicated to electing more
Republican governors - his own hand-picked Republican successor
as governor lost badly to the Democrat, despite the fact that Republicans
have held the governorship in Massachusetts since 1990. Romney largely
ignored the Massachusetts elections and spent most of the time
during the campaign out of state building his presidential campaign.
He came back and publicly campaigned for the Republican candidate
the day before the general election!
“Locally, this is a rebuke to Mitt Romney and checking out within six months
after being elected and having accomplished almost nothing,”
[Jim] Rappaport [former chairman of the state Republican Party]."

- Boston Globe, 11/8/2006
