Who made 9/11 the “biggest event in American history”? Not Pearl Harbor Day, Yorktown, Midway? If you want the one day the most Americans died in war (by any definition), that would be the first day of the Battle of Sharpsburg.

Thinking American History started “the day I turned 18” is a big part of the problem.

Over the course of a week, it would have to be the Seven Days (ending w/ the Battle of Malvern Hill) that very same year, 1862.

And I bet I can guess which part of the country you live when you say "Sharpsburg" instead of "Antietam". :)
