New laws will come into force this week to help young British women of Asian background who are forced into marriage against their will.
Diplomats rescued one such 15-year-old before it was too late. Standing amid the chickens that peck the courtyard dust of her home in a remote Kashmiri village, Shafaq Malik looks just like the dutiful young Pakistani wife her father wants her to become.
Her pretty features framed by a lace headscarf draped over a maroon gown, she stands out from her aunts and cousins for just thing: the broad Leeds accent that gives away her previous life as an English schoolgirl. Right now, it is also a life to which she may be about to return courtesy of two British diplomats who have come to save her from the wedding which her father wants to force upon her.
The diplomats, who have driven three hours from the British High Commision in Islamabad, are from the "consular assistance" team, better known for helping Britons who have been robbed, arrested, or lost their passports.
Here in rural Pakistan, though, what counts as a Briton in need of assistance can be more complex. In Shafaq's case, as with hundreds of other British-Pakistani women on their files, the High Commission's officials have been tipped off that she is being forced into marriage against her will. A girl's own objections are often little match for the huge social pressure to conform to her family's wishes, or the male relatives who will prevent her running away.

reminds me of this week’s Unit episode.
They’ve been imported here, too. This young lady’s case is particularly sad. She was clearly kidnapped by her father when he and his wife divorced in Britain.
I’ve had acquaintances who have had their children kidnapped by their ex-husbands, Muslims, and taken to Middle Eastern countries. It is nearly impossible to get them back.
At least she was not punished with a child.

God Bless this young lady and the people who help her!
“Diplomats rescued one such 15-year-old before it was too late.”
Armed with briefcases and cell phones, a secret force of special ops diplomats stormed the village where the girl was held and rescued her without international incident. “It was touch and go for a moment...At any time, negotiations could have gone rather poorly.” said one.
[Sorry...it just struck...]
Isn’t multiculturalism wonderful?
I just can’t get over the “cultural relativism” that has taken over centuries of advancement...the crazy thing is the total silence of so called femminists in all this.
The West has lost the will to survive. The insane death cultists will rule Eurabia in our lifetimes.
That’s amazing that they were able to do that, and had something set up to do that. Unfortunately, I’m sure it’s only for 1% of less of the ones who need help from the evil of the false religion of Islam...
Not all of us.
