I was directed by Smith’s office (TX) to contact Conyers (D Mich) b/c he’s the chair.

I called (as an Obama voter) his office and spoke with a rather rude and smug woman who said that this matter had been put to rest, “not like he had to prove it anyhow.” Cited FactCheck.org, etc.

She became annoyed with me when I persisted and directed me to the judiciary committee hq. The woman who answered there was very nice and polite. Cited FactCheck and I told her that people didn’t buy that b/c Obama was connected to them. She said she would pass on my concerns.

Here’s the problem—she says I was one of the nicest people she’s dealt with on the issue. Most people are calling all pissed off and yelling. That doesn’t help, folks. That pushes you farther into that “fringe” category when we have people out there acting like maniacs.

My suggestion is to use the manners your momma taught you when you deal with these people. It does NOBODY any good to call some poor secretary up and scream and holler.

My kids were making a fuss last time I posted, so I had to hurry. There was more.

Not only did they both cite FactCheck.org, but the woman with Conyer’s office (after I told her my Republican friends had told me about this) laughed and said “well, there’s your problem right there. It’s the people you’re hanging out with.”

She claimed that he HAD shown his BC, and she didn’t know what all this fuss about a “vault” copy was. FactCheck.org got to “see and hold in their hands” a copy of his BC. That should be good enough, according to this woman.

The woman from the judiciary committee office was very kind, but assured me (as I claimed to be an Obama voter) that it was an internet fringe who persisted with these claims.
