A contractor providing services to the U.S. military in Iraq and Afghanistan has committed serious violations of its contract, mainly by conducting inadequate inspections of electrical wiring and grounding at American bases, according to Pentagon sources.
The Pentagon findings on Houston, Texas-based KBR stem from the widely publicized death of Sgt. Ryan Maseth, a highly decorated 24-year-old Green Beret from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Maseth was electrocuted while taking a shower at his base in Baghdad.
His January 2 death was just one of many deaths now believed to be linked to shoddy electrical work done at U.S. bases, managed by U.S. contractors, according to Pentagon sources.
The Pentagon's Defense Contract Management Agency recently gave KBR a "Level III Corrective Action Request" -- issued only when a contractor is found in "serious noncompliance" and just one step below the possibility of suspending or terminating a contract, Pentagon officials said....

And look to the nitwits sent over there to oversee the contractors efforts. Those idiots seem to believe that see means look so they overlooked what the contractor was doing rather than oversee the contractor’s actions.

Shoddy and disgusting, The “Sea Bees” (Navy’s Construction Batallion) have higher standards, I’ve never even heard of one complaint out of thier work. and would most certainly have done that job right.
The dolts responsible for this mismanagement and shoddy ethics/workmanship must stand trial. Anything less is unacceptable.
The Sea Bees don’t have a profit motive to subcontract it out, this probably got subcontracted 17 times so that the person actually doing the work is getting paid so low they cut corners to make a profit.
Agreed houston1, the CB’s have far more than profit at stake, Personal Integrity, Pride, and Professionalism. No sub sub sub contractor will ever compare.

it would almost be funny but since it has cost people their lives someone should be going away for a long time (I can always dream but it probably won’t happen)
Something (I dunno what) will happen, If the military is still like anything I remember, blame will be found. The military is far better at finding blame than fixing problems. I hope they get better at both.
Old story. The one I read is that the contractor is doing the same thing they do in the States: hire inexperienced workers at no pay. I think they were hiring Iraqis to do the actual work; Iraqis who had no idea what they were doing.
