Something is happening of historic proportions

I am a student of history. Professionally. I have written 15 books in six languages, and have studied it all my life. I think there is something monumentally large afoot, and I do not believe it is just a banking crisis, or a mortgage crisis, or a credit crisis. Yes these exist, but they are merely single facets on a very large gemstone that is only now coming into a sharper focus.

Something of historic proportions is happening. I can sense it because I know how it feels, smells, what it looks like, and how people react to it. Yes, a perfect storm may be brewing, but there is something happening within our country that has been evolving for about ten - fifteen years. The pace has dramatically quickened in the past two.

We demand and then codify into law the requirement that our banks make massive loans to people we know they can never pay back? Why?

We learn just days ago that the Federal Reserve, which has little or no real oversight by anyone, has “loaned” two trillion dollars (that is $2,000,000,000,000) over the past few months, but will not tell us to whom or why or disclose the terms. That is our money. Yours and mine. And that is three times the 700B we all argued about so strenuously just this past September. Who has this money? Why do they have it? Why are the terms unavailable to us? Who asked for it? Who authorized it? I thought this was a government of “we the people,” who loaned our powers to our elected leaders. Apparently not.

We have spent two or more decades intentionally de-industrializing our economy. Why?

We have intentionally dumbed down our schools, ignored our history, and no longer teach our founding documents, why we are exceptional, and why we are worth preserving. Students by and large cannot write, think critically, read, or articulate. Parents are not revolting, teachers are not picketing, school boards continue to back mediocrity. Why?

We have now established the precedent of protesting every close election (now violently in California over a proposition that is so controversial that it wants marriage to remain between one man and one woman. Did you ever think such a thing possible just a decade ago?). We have corrupted our sacred political process by allowing unelected judges to write laws that radically change our way of life, and then mainstream Marxist groups like ACORN and others to turn our voting system into a banana republic. To what purpose?

Now our mortgage industry is collapsing, housing prices are in free fall, major industries are failing, our banking system is on the verge of collapse, social security is nearly bankrupt, as is medicare and our entire government, our education system is worse than a joke (I teach college and know precisely what I am talking about)–the list is staggering in its length, breadth, and depth. It is potentially 1929 x ten. And we are at war with an enemy we cannot name for fear of offending people of the same religion, who cannot wait to slit the throats of your children if they have the opportunity to do so.

And now we have elected a man no one knows anything about, who has never run so much as a Dairy Queen, let alone a town as big as Wasilla, Alaska. All of his associations and alliances are with real radicals in their chosen fields of employment, and everything we learn about him, drip by drip, is unsettling if not downright scary (Surely you have heard him speak about his idea to create and fund a mandatory civilian defense force stronger than our military for use inside our borders? No? Oh of course. The media would never play that for you over and over and then demand he answer it. Sarah Palin’s pregnant daughter and $150,000 wardrobe is more imporant.)

Mr. Obama’s winning platform can be boiled down to one word: change.

Why?

I have never been so afraid for my country and for my children as I am now.

This man campaigned on bringing people together, something he has never, ever done in his professional life. In my assessment, Obama will divide us along philosophical lines, push us apart, and then try to realign the pieces into a new and different power structure. Change is indeed coming. And when it comes, you will never see the same nation again.

And that is only the beginning.

And I thought I would never be able to experience what the ordinary, moral German felt in the mid-1930s. In those times, the savior was a former smooth-talking rabble-rouser from the streets, about whom the average German knew next to nothing. What they did know was that he was associated with groups that shouted, shoved, and pushed around people with whom they disagreed; he edged his way onto the political stage through great oratory and promises. Economic times were tough, people were losing jobs, and he was a great speaker. And he smiled and waved a lot. And people, even newspapers, were afraid to speak out for fear that his “brown shirts” would bully them into submission. And then, he was duly elected to office, a full-throttled economic crisis at hand [the Great Depression]. Slowly but surely he seized the controls of government power, department by department, person by person, bureaucracy by bureaucracy. The kids joined a Youth Movement in his name, where they were taught what to think. How did he get the people on his side? He did it promising jobs to the jobless, money to the moneyless, and goodies for the military-industrial complex. He did it by indoctrinating the children, advocating gun control, health care for all, better wages, better jobs, and promising to re-instill pride once again in the country, across Europe, and across the world.

He did it with a compliant media–did you know that? And he did this all in the name of justice and . . . change. And the people surely got what they voted for.

(Look it up if you think I am exaggerating.)

Read your history books. Many people objected in 1933 and were shouted down, called names, laughed at, and made fun of. When Winston Churchill pointed out the obvious in the late 1930s while seated in the House of Lords in England (he was not yet Prime Minister), he was booed into his seat and called a crazy troublemaker. He was right, though.

Don’t forget that Germany was the most educated, cultured country in Europe. It was full of music, art, museums, hospitals, laboratories, and universities. And in less than six years–a shorter time span than just two terms of the U. S. presidency–it was rounding up its own citizens, killing others, abrogating its laws, turning children against parents, and neighbors against neighbors. All with the best of intentions, of course. The road to Hell is paved with them.

As a practical thinker, one not overly prone to emotional decisions, I have a choice: I can either believe what the objective pieces of evidence tell me (even if they make me cringe with disgust); I can believe what history is shouting to me from across the chasm of seven decades; or I can hope I am wrong by closing my eyes, having another latte, and ignoring what is transpiring around me.

Some people scoff at me, others laugh, or think I am foolish, naive, or both. Perhaps I am. But I have never been afraid to look people in the eye and tell them exactly what I believe–and why I believe it.

I pray I am wrong. I do not think I am.

Great column. I’ve been having many of the same thoughts.

Thank God we are able to homeschool our children. I was thinking today, I will be much prouder of them if they turn out to be Christian community college graduates versus Harvard-educated elite atheists.

You are so right. I, like many others, are scared too as to what is ahead for my kids and grand-kids. Some are just too stupid not to be scared or concerned for the sovereignty of the US.

This is exactly what the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution was written for. You can sit around around and wring your hands while the congress critters party on our tax money and sell us down the river, or you can get right and refuse to take their BS. At this point they are domestic enemies. They don’t do a damn thing with thoughts of service to the electorate in mind. The current crop of Congress is an absolute stain on the hollowed body of Legislative branch of our government. Granted, we have had some bad ones in the past but these folks are completely beyond the pale and only serve themselves. Constituitonly, they work for us and if they can’t do the job we should fire them and I was looking forward to the election two years from now. The problem is, they don’t want anyone showing ID at the polls to prove that they are actually Americans voting and they want as many illegal aliens as possible invading the country to help them stay in office. Let’s see, I’m an illegal immigrant, don’t have to show any ID at the polls, and the commie dems are promising me free goodies at the expense of legal working Americans...damn, I’m voting Dem!!!! The only way we’ll get rid of them is torches and pitch forks.

"The rich folks, the plantation massahs want the rest of us dead. (With the exception of a few mendicants to serve them.)"

You really don't have a clue do you? Rich folks, nice catch phrase, but it doesn't quite make any sense the "rich folks" as you call them have as much as the rest of us to lose, by virtue of investing in businesses opening plants and making jobs if your savior actually impliments what he wants in his socialist dream.

Our enemy is apathy, allowing our ruling class in Washington to change what is America, unabated and unchallenged.

After watching the mass hysteria at an Obama rally on TV, I’m convinced that he could get many of his supporters to strap on suicide belts.

Read your history books.

Two remarks:

1) What are you? Rosie O'donnell? "Look it up..."

2) When it comes to reading your history books "physician heal thyself". If I may recommended a doubtlessly out-of-print book of about 30 years ago entitled "The Captains and the Kings Depart". It deals, in depth, the country, the people and politics of Germany from the closing years of WWI to the establishment of Nazi party (c.1918-1934).

The difference between Germany then and America now is the difference between the lightening bolt and a lightening bug.

>> Some people scoff at me, others laugh, or think I am foolish, naive, or both.

Symptoms, anecdotes, and fear can do more to paralyze than foretell - yet, a fool would ignore the signs.

For the love of America’s children, find the way for as long as it takes.

Who wants us dead are the greenies, they want to save the world and if that means killing off people, so what, unless it is them.

You must not be from America if you don’t know why our wages are so high. We need our big screen TVs..and we won’t work for scraps anymore. We already did that with the agricultural and industrial revolutions. We have evolved. We have MTV and Hollywood celebrities now, and what a jackpot of wisdom those folks are..small dogs and big diamonds, and shallow relationships..what more could you want?

Actually, Chinese wages are now getting too high. You can get the same work done in Vietnam for 40 cents an hour or less.

What most Americans perceive as a hostile and aggressive environment is simply an environment in which they no longer matter as a workforce. The economics involved with the American worker just don’t make sense.

The economics involved in public education no longer make sense for most folks. Education is expensive, why not just draw from the pool of young people whose parents could afford a good education or hire someone from another country where a ton of money is poured into public education?

If you want to know what’s happening to America, it’s simple: a large percentage of the population is simply irrelevant in today’s world.

There is not a doubt in my old head that demonic powers are loose in our land, that satanic brilliance is at work on Barack Obama's behalf. How can I be so sure? ... Mesmerized crowds are not enough to be sure, but Obama's past behaviors tell us what we need to know.

While in the Illinois legislature, while a member and then chairman of the judicial review committee, Barack Obama worked to block bills which would have extended medical treatment to alive children forced by an abortionist to be born prematurely. When asked about this past work, Barack Obama's campaign--and even he specifically--tried to characterize these efforts as 'seeking to protect Roe v Wade'. [That was the Supreme Court decision allowing abortion in all fifty states, which, when coupled with the soon issued Doe v Bolton ruling, swept away any states' authority to limit abortion killing.]

Why is Barack Obama's effort to protect killing by forced premature birth then neglect of the struggling child so important in understanding the man? ... Because what Obama was seeking to do was protect a particulary demonic way abortionists were killing alive children. And it was a growing national disgrace, as evidenced by the United States Congress eventually passing a bill to stop it!

The forced premature birth then killing by neglect method of terminating pregnancy was becoming popular, particularly in abortuaries where a fetal tissue harvester was working to 'collect' tissues for research programs!

Hearings at which this demonic method of aborting alive babies was discussed focused upon two reasons for the move to abort using this infanticide methodology:

1) the not yet born but very much alive child is not killed in the pregnant female's body then extracted--hopefully getting all the parts--so the abortionists isn't sued for 'malpractice' (odd that, attaching mal to murderers and calling it 'practice');
2) by birthing the preemies at age 18 to 30 weeks then allowing them to struggle and die unattended, alone, the tissues of these just murdered children are more 'pristine for research' ... the methods to slaughter alive children in their mother's womb tend to scald, dismember, or poison the child in order to kill them in utero, and that 'degrades the fetal tissue'.

Think about Barack Obama's pleading when first asked about his work to block Born Alive Infant Protection bills: he stated in so many words that he felt allowing such personhood recognition of these prematurely delivered children would end abortion, then he corrected himself somewhat and stated that allowing these bills to be passed would severely weaken Roe v Wade and perhaps end a woman's right to choose!

What he told us with that pleading was: he is more than willing to defend infanticide--because that's precisely what this method of killing newborns is, infanticide, murder of newborns--as a means to empower himself politically! THAT is demonic. THAT is the overt face of evil in our midst!

Is Barack Obama the anti-christ? ... I would say no, he's not yet powerful enough nor has the world deteriorated sufficiently for him to be 'The' anti-christ. BUT his eager service to evil where it can empower him IS the active, working spirit of anti-christ.

Barack Obama is a very dangerous man and by some unseen influence his zeitgeist is numbing the rational attention of Americans able to vote him into ultimate power over America. Barack Obama's rise to prominence has demonic empowerment written all over it, and the hypnotic effect he has on otherwise rational people is a frightening evidence of the demonic empowerment of this man who is more than willing to protect killing newborn children as but another form of 'a woman's right to choose' ... choose murder of an alive child. [Now where have we read about such demonically inspired behavior, the sacrificing of alive children to a demonic spirit? ... Moloch ring any bells?]

A question. If these kids are so well educated why are so many bright Asian kids sitting in front of me in my class in Woodside? My class has 17 Aisian kids with less than 4 months in the USA. You would think people satisfied with their kids education wouldn’t be eager to move 12000 miles to a place that’s as strange to them as the Moon.
