The symptoms described do not sound like someone who is in need of “saying his goodbyes”. Going downhill, yes. But I think this article from the “trusty” Enquirer is trying to play up the emotion side way too much.
Yes, it is always sad to me to see someone waste away with cancer like this.
And one other piece of mind in a short prayer for Mr. Swayze - Dear Lord, Please help Mr. Swayze prepare for his end - first and foremost by accepting you as his personal Lord and Savior for the forgiveness of your sins. And LORD, if he has already taken this step, then please give him comfort that in his last days he will not be consumed with fear or anxiety over his eternity, that he would instead rest firmly in your comforting embrace. And finally LORD, that you would help us all see your divine hand in all of this. In your Son Jesus’s most Precious name - Amen.
“Swayze has been undergoing pioneering Cyberknife radiotherapy at California’s Stamford University Medical Centre, and had been making a steady recovery from the illness.”
I just picked up their brochure at a health fair; their website is”

“
I saw a vid clip about him being in a new show and wondered how he
could do that in his condition. Its sad.
“
I’m not a doctor...but I suspect his intestinal fortitude, backed up
by therapuetics (including painkillers) maybe eased his last year.
And allowed him to finish at least his part of the show.
He must have been signed to do the production well before the cancer
was detected or obviously affecting him.
Hollywood, despite the liberal banter about compassion, doesn’t like
to sign a star that may not make it through filming of movie or
years of series on TV/cable.
Richard Roundtree (of the “Shaft” movie fame) was IIRC, sick with
some sort of lung problem and kept it secret from all his bosses,
coworkers and crew in order to keep his job.
(Not on “Shaft” but some sort of production he did maybe 15 years ago.)
Poor man...love Patrick. Really nice guy. Best roles obviously Red Dawn and Roadhouse.

“Pain don’t hurt”
Urich, I liked him as well. Prayers for him and the family and prayers for a cure.
crap. He always seemed like a pretty good guy and I never heard bad thing about him. Prayers for him, his friends, and his family.
I wish this fine man well and comfort, best of luck Patrick
Hey, do ya’ll remember the SNL skit with Patrick and Chris Farley? That was Funny! The Chippendale dancer skit? Man, that would be something to see right now! I just thought about that, after thinking about DD. What a twist.
And also, Swayze and his gorgeous wife dancing on SNL. Now that was pretty cool as well. Yeah, I guess I had a man-crush/jealousy thing going for him. WOLVERINES!!!!!!!!!!!!
Prayers My Brother...
I guess The Lord needs ya....
Big C eventually wins, victory lies in the postponement which can be a long time though not often with pancreatic.
Godspeed hoss.
Prayers up
That’s a real shame. I’m really sorry to hear that. I read just a couple of days ago that he was doing good and even referred to himself as a “miracle.”
~Prayers~
I’m so sorry to hear how his condition has worsened. And so sorry to scroll down and read of the FReepers who’ve lost loved ones to cancer. I lost my dad last year to the very rare eyelet cell cancer, which originates in the pancreas, but is not technically pancreatic cancer. As one FReeper mentioned, once the cancer hits the liver...
What a horrible way to go. My prayers are with Mr. Swayze and his family. What a wonderful, Southern gentleman he’s always seemed to be. My cousins have Polaroids of him from about 20 years ago that they took at the Houston Rodeo (IIRC). They were sitting on the row right behind him and said that he was just as nice as could be.
Loved him in North and South!
I loved him in The North and the South as well!
My Dad had pancreatic cancer. Diagnosed in October, had surgery and died in March. It usually takes about 6 months to ravage the body. Such a shame, I hope the very best for him.
“No, Uncommon Valor is my favorite.”
Wow...me too...no one EVER agrees with me~
It’s one of my all time favorite movies..
(but I’m a sap)...
Prayers for his family and friends..
Pancreatic Cancer took my mom when I was 16...
It is NOT a good disease to get..
