Barack Obama facing his first defeat as Sarah Palin hits Georgia campaign trail
telegraph.co.uk ^ | Nov. 28, 2008 | Gerald Warner

Posted on 11/28/2008 9:28:39 AM PST by Al B.

"Please join me... on Tuesday, December 2, and head to the polls just one more time this year." That plea came from Barack Obama in a recent radio advertisement supporting Jim Martin, the Democrat candidate in next Tuesday's run-off election in Georgia for the state's Senate seat. If you thought the US elections were over - think again. Barack Obama knows they are not. He also knows he is facing probable defeat next Tuesday, in what will be the first major setback for his fledgling administration.

The Republicans, on 40, need just one more seat to mount a filibuster in the Senate against contentious Obama legislation. And there will be plenty of that, not least his Freedom of Choice Bill mandating unlimited abortion across every state of the Union. Obama's hit-the-ground-running, brook-no-opposition instincts demand a filibuster-free Senate.

As a matter of fact, I’m making that my new tagline.

“I’m sure some RINO like Arlen Specter would fill in for the missing votes.”

If he doesn’t, I’m sure McPain will gladly provide the vote in support or “in memory of his friend Teddy.”

Being pro 2nd amendment and pro ANWR isn’t enough. The new senator from Alaska is going to caucus with the democrats, putting them in control of what gets voted on. So even if he votes a certain way it will still be voted on and RINO’s go along with it. If 2 years from now the republicans got 49 seats the rats would still be in control and passing liberal legislation thanks to senators like the new one from Alaska caucusing with democrats.

you really have to ask yourself, if Obama had been honest and open about his cabinet picks in the primary if he would have won?

if he had said he’d keep Gates at defense, have Hillary at state, bring back retreads like Daschle at HHS, all the other Clinton retreads like Emanuel, Summers, Holder, Rice, etc...

would all the hope and change liberals and the media still have been all over him? as it was he lost big once the Wright tapes surfaced. I’ll never understand how Billary let that happen. They had to know about them, or at least someone on their staff had to know about Wright. If they had released those tapes or brought them to the media’s attention before IA or even before Super Tuesday it would have been over. I bet Hillary has been up nights asking herself how come she never made an issue of Wright earlier.

The newest dem senator from Alaska is quite conservative. Pro 2nd. amendment Pro ANWR drilling He seems hardly likely to go along with harry and nancy.

Begich goes along with Reid and Obama on Iraq, Health Care, prescription drugs, Global warming, taxes and abortion.

Begich is better described as a liberal with a gun.

“He seems hardly likely to go along with harry and nancy.”

The music for this thought with apologies to Satchmo is “Dream a Little Dream” with me.

Barack Obooboo is going to face a much bigger defeat in 2010, and he will be lucky if he isn’t shipped back to his home country of Kenya before 2012. That said, between now and 2010, the Democrats will make a rule change to get beyond filibusters, and they will have the usual RINO suspects kissing their behinds. Conservative Republicans can forget having an impact on legislation, but they can act like an opposition party, and oppose the leftnut lunacy, making the conservative case to anyone who will listen.

I don’t think Matthews has the courage to actually put himself on the line. People like him like to throw darts at other people under the guise of the free press cover. He certainly will never place himself in a position where he could actually be held accountable for something.

How can you get a filibuster with McClame and his gang in there?

Far as I’m concerned, Chrissie made clear he is running months ago. He is still on the air only because MSNBO has no journalistic ethics whatsoever.

Matthews is a coward and a moron. There is no way he would make it on the hill. I’m willing to bet money after all the garbage he spewed at Palin he would be reduced to mush if he ever had a face to face with her.

I don’t think you’ll get any, except maybe on something like card check or something else really outrageous. Too many RINO’s.

Rus had piced up on the acceptance speach.

Instead of saying now we can have change Hussein said “iT may take years”

Rush said people started to go slack jawed with bewildered expressions on their faces. As in “What, what, what do you mean no change now?”

As an aside

The old song was “Brother, can you spare me a dime”
the response should be “Sorry, Obama took all my change”

Matthews has lived in Maryland for how many years now? But he’s willing to set up residence in PA to run there? I can’t see Specter running again and PA seems to have turned hopelessly blue .. but will Dems in PA go along with him as their candidate? Aren’t there people in the state democrat party who’ve waited their turn and might not appreciate Matthews coming back only to run for Senate? I’m also wondering if Dems in VA will accept Terri McAuliffe who seems to want to run for governor here.

IF Matthews runs it will be the call to his ego. He’s made himself famous and made enough money, so now it’s all about the ego trip.
