Augusta — Several thousand people stood in the cold Monday morning for the chance to get inside the James Brown Arena to see Alaska Gov. — and new Republican star — Sarah Palin.
Palin was in Augusta to start a four-city campaign swing for incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, who is locked in a hotly contested runoff with Democrat Jim Martin. The race will be decided Tuesday, and Palin’s appearance is part of Chambliss’s effort to get conservative voters to the polls.

If Saxby doesn’t win, there will be a fillibuster proof Senate. We cannot afford to lose!!! So learn his name - and get others to vote for him too - yeah, it’s that important! I affects every state, NOT JUST GEORGIA!
For years my mother could not understand why I voted party, as opposed to voting for person. This is why!!!

Those people that see through the lies and media spin flock to Sarah Palin because not only does she have the "she's one of us" thing down pat, but people sense something special about her, the ability to lead and inspire. It's the kind of appeal that makes you want to run through a brick wall for her.
You see those special characteristics in outstanding military leaders, great business people and legendary athletic coaches but in far too few of our political leaders and that's sad.
Ronald Reagan was that kind of leader and I believe she just could be cut from the same cloth. That doesn't make her Reagan but it makes her a special kind of politician, one that the country needs badly. If this nation has any chance to have its course changed back towards its guiding principles, it will take special leaders like her. JMO.

I agree. She has “it”.
Some of the sniveling political-advisor types would have advised her to stay away from coming in as a ‘closer’ to a campaign that’s not a sure thing. But that’s not her style, much to her credit.
I know exactly what you mean. I remember a conversation I had with a friend some years ago. We were discussing Joan of Arc, and my friend said that she must have been an extraordinary woman for men to decide to follow her in battle. Imagine a 17 year old girl inspiring thousands of men to risk their lives and charge into battle behind her banner. That, my fried said, is true leadership.
Perhaps it's not for nothing that the Anchorage Daily News dubbed Sarah Palin "Alaska's Joan of Arc".
BTW, I just heard Palin's third stump speech for Saxby. She's amazing. She totally freelances off the text with each of her speeches. She knows how to work a crowd and deliver a stump speech better than any politician I've ever seen.

I noticed that as well. She was also speaking much more quickly and freely. It really seems like she “free” of the McCain closet and is really being herself now.
So, I thought the libs and media said she couldn’t speak without a teleprompter? I bet she could do almost any speech without one. That is where her journalism experience really helps her.

She is surrounded by minders whose lot is to control her. She doesn't speak freely. She hunkers down with the only three who make her feel comfortable - Kris Perry, who ran her gubernatorial run, Penny Owen, her Alaska friend from high school who helps with the children, and the Husband. I went to hear George Will speak here in September....lots of old baseball stories, half of which we've all heard a dozen times before......acted like he was bored with the significance of the election.
My "take away":
Voting doesn't matter...democracy doesn't matter...George Will doesn't matter.

The only sane thing McCain did during that entire campaign was pick Sarah Palin.
Right on. I found it funny how when Palin mentioned McCain's name at the rallies today, the applause was noticeably more muted.
Truth be told, without her there as our future it would really be a nightmare to contemplate the next 4 yrs with Bo in the White House. But she gives us something to hang on for.

I hope that she can really influence this election. Again, the massive decline today in the net worth of millions of Americans and I am sure many Georgians is not going to help Chambliss.
I remember a coach yrs ago saying there are two kinds of speeches a coach can make before a game.....the first one the players say, "Boy, that was a great speech" and the second one they say,"Outta my way I want to kick some ass today"! Knute Rockne comes to mind for the second. And as a political speaker, SP is the second also.

It's just one anecdote but I think Sarah needs to get in front of as many live audiences as she can in the next couple of years. Problem is how to do that. She's really getting sniped at by Alaska Democrats and the MSM for this political trip. Other politicians make trips and speeches all the time without this kind of heat (Barry...cough, cough), but Sarah takes the heat. She's going to have to figure out how to deal with this.

Most are still stewing in the fact that their RINO relic would have lost even worse had it bot been for Sara.
Knute Rockne was certainly one of those people. At the risk of drawing the ire of the Coach K haters, I would cite him as a recent example in sports as our Olympic basketball coach. He took a bunch of selfish, egocentric NBA stars and molded them into an awesome team, one that displayed all-out effort and teamwork in reclaiming the gold medal for the USA. As a basketball fan, it was a joy to watch and to a man, these heretofore prima donnas were gushing about him.
Of course, Coach K is a West Point grad and might know a thing or two about leadership. :)
SP has already demonstrated this kind of leadership at the state level. I hope she and others like her get the chance at the national level. They're going to have to rally people to a cause that may be unnatural for them if there is any chance to reclaim our country. I think we're in pretty desperate shape but I'm certainly willing to give people like Sarah a shot.
My advice to Palin would be for her to stay in AK next year and work on the budget. With the poor economy, many states are going to have serious budget problems. AK is also going to have issues regarding oil. The biggest hurdle for Palin is proving herself to be competent problem solver. If she can handle budget and energy issues successfully, then her Presidential stock will sour.
