You are a traditional and conservative person. You value the past, and change frightens you. You are very loyal, especially to your family. You prefer a low-key life, with lots of time spent at home.
You like soup because it's easy, quick, and cheap. You tend to have a favorite soup you stick to. Why change a good thing? |

I’m Clam Chowder:
You are cynical and a bit provincial. You don’t trust what’s new or trendy.
You are also indulgent and hedonistic. You like rich foods, and you would never count calories.
You are not a big cooker - or a big foodie. Food is not complicated for you.
You eat what’s comfortable. And what’s from a box or can. You’re very low maintenance.

You are a spontaneous person. You don't make or follow rules. You just go with your gut. You're eager to go wherever life takes you. If something doesn't work out, at least you've learned.
Nutrition and eating healthy is very important to you. You eat your veggies. That being said, you're not a picky eater. You like all foods. |

You are open minded and curious about the world. You can help but learn as much as you can about things. You are introverted, intellectual, and introspective. In other words, you have a big brain... and you use it.
You are a bit of a culinary expert, and you are an excellent cook. You know how to balance delicate flavors well and can whip up a mean bowl of soup. |
I was hoping for a bit more of excitement in my soup.

| You Are Miso Soup |
You are worldly and well traveled. You have lived a lot of life, and you know there is a lot more too see! You are very interested in new experiences, especially new literary and cultural experiences.
You have a refined palate and love many exotic tastes. You get used to "acquired tastes" fairly easily. For you, soup doesn't have to be a meal. You can appreciate a simple soup any time. |

Expectations
My earnest expectation and hope [is] that . . . Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. Philippians 1:20
Expectations! We all have them. We expect that people will be nice to us, that well have good health, great marriages, faithful friends, successful careers. But what do we do when life doesnt live up to our expectations? In Philippians 1, Paul shows us the way. He faced broken expectations of place, people, and the future, yet he remained surprisingly upbeat.
Paul was stuck in prisonnot a great place to be! When we get stuck in a tough marriage, an unrewarding job, or a challenging neighborhood, its easy to get discouraged. But Paul was wonderfully positive. He said that his suffering helped to advance the gospel (Phil. 1:12).
Maybe people havent lived up to our expectations. Paul likely expected other believers to encourage him. Instead, some were actually glad he was in jail and were preaching out of envy and strife (v.15). Pauls response? Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice (v.18).
Maybe its an uncertain futurethe loss of a spouse, a job transfer, or a health crisis. Paul knew that at any moment Nero might give the order for his execution, yet he declared, For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain (v.21).
Adopt Pauls only expectationfor Christ to be honored no matter what!
In all I think and say and do,
I long, O God, to honor You;
But may my highest motive be
To love the Christ who died for me. D. De Haan
